LaBelle's is not the same since Dawn sold it several years ago. The quality of merchandise has fallen off as have the vendors. Items seem haphazardly grouped and it wasn't as clean as before. While we were there the new owner ( I presumed it was the owner) spent the entire time on speakerphone loudly explaining how the consignment worked. You could hear it all through the store. Her store,her rules but I don't think we all needed to hear the other side of the conversation and the haggling. Merchandise seems high for what it was. Floors could use a good vacuuming. This used to be our favorite antique place. Sadly, we won't be back. Wish I had better things to say. read more

Great place with an amazing selection! There's so much to look through and I've been able to find great items on multiple occasions.

It was nasty when Dawn owned it & it's more so now. Wife took in several bins of items for sale, saw Dawn hold up the vintage cameras she had in the bin & ask that guy she was working with if he'd be interested in them. Not wanting to hover while they were going thru her stuff, she walked around the store to kill time. That was a BIG mistake!! When she got home & went thru the stuff Dawn didn't buy, all the vintage cameras (that belonged to her aunt) were gone & they were NOT among the items Dawn bought. When she called the store (nicely suggesting this was an oversight) Dawn wavered between saying she hadn't seen them, she didn't know what she was talking about to, she'd have to check in the back & see. This went on for several days with Dawn finally screaming at her on the phone..."Are you accusing me of stealing!!!" (Well, based on the evidence that's exactly what happened!!!!) My wife ended up just giving her aunt the $$ she found out the cameras were worth (a total of $225!) instead of telling her what happened & getting HER all upset. read more

This used to be my favorite antique store in the entire region, but I'm disappointed in the curation by the new owner. Sure, she seems nicer than the last owner, but it doesn't matter when she's bringing in garbage like crappy modern dolls and 90s cat art. I'm heartbroken to see it go downhill like this. I'm rating it 3 stars because a few of the original dealers are still hanging on and their stuff is always great, but I can see where this place is headed. If you bring crap into the store, the quality dealers will leave (I've seen this happen time and time again). A lot of reviewers seem to take issue with the previous ownership, which I don't understand. When I'm antiquing, I'm looking for 2 things: quality antiques and great deals - the previous owner provided both of these things. I'm not out to make friends and I could care less if an employee is rude to me if I still get an amazing deal out of it. To the new owner, please focus on actual ANTIQUES or you'll start losing clientele fast. read more

Overpriced junk. No antiques. Poor displays. Used to be a great place. New owner doesn't have a clue what is an antique.

I love this store. I have always loved the curation, and that hasn't changed with the new owner in my opinion. She is very nice and makes you feel at home while you shop! Definitely one of my favorite antique stores in the area and I'll be back. read more

I'm on the fence with this review. I've been going to this antique shop for the past couple years and it's always been my favorite in the area. The store is organized, clean, and they have a great selection of antiques. However, yesterday a staff member (presumably the owner) had a very poor attitude. I made an offer on a piece and she snickered and sort of had a "fine, whatever" response. I honestly would have rather her just politely decline my offer. She also misunderstood a question I had about the piece and got all flustered. It was really uncomfortable, and now I had a bad taste in my mouth. It's really unfortunate because I love the store, but I will probably hesitate to shop there again. The staff is friendly, the items are displayed beautifully and the prices are great. I know some people that go in every day just to see what's new. I always find something cool and unique when I go. Would give zero stars if I could. Both my parents passed away and we sold their house of 50 years. Had some of their things thought an antique dealer but be interested in. I sent pictures to the owner to see if she would be interested in any of the items as I was informed to do. After two weeks of no response from the owner I called the store. I was told she was out and would be another two weeks before she could get to them. Another two weeks went by and no response. I called again and the owner answered this time. She asked for my phone number and said she would look at the pictures that I had texted her and call me back. She never called me back and it has been several weeks now. I used to do business with the previous owner Dawn. I will no longer do business with this store again as long as they are under the current management and I recommend you don't either. We don't need businesses like this in St Clair Shores. read more

The shop itself rates 5 stars. It's clean, well stocked, well organized, and prices are reasonable. The owner, Dawn, is another story. I selected several items and left them with the clerk at the counter. After browsing the rest of the store, I returned to the counter with additional items have my merchandised totaled. One of the items I left earlier had been removed from my "pile". I was informed by Dawn that the item was mistakenly put out on the sales floor and wasn't for sale because she wanted it. Her attitude was aggressive. A simple "I'm sorry, that was put out by mistake" was all that would have been necessary. She accused me of being rude after I said that she has poor business practices. In the end, she refused to sell me anything and told me to keep my opinions to myself. I quietly gave her my last opinion, turned and left. This is the second time that she has acted in an unprofessional manner to me. The first was several years ago when I suggested she have a chair or 2 near the counter for older people to sit while waiting their turn. I will never again set foot in her store. read more

Owner Dawn is shockingly rude, and I'm a repeat customer who comes in every month or so and spends around $500 each time. Only reason I keep going back is because there is always a great inventory, beautiful quality items reasonably priced, not highly marked up junk like the case is for a lot of antique stores these days. Staff often have masks hanging under chin so make sure to double mask and keep your distance. Last time I went- and bare in mind I was already spending several hundred dollars - I had picked up a top that had two price tags. Of course I only noticed the tag that said $28, not the one that said $40. Upon noticing the second tag when writing me up, she refused to honor the lower price and insisted on charging $40. I politely said if that was the case, I'd like to leave it, and she huffed and made a huge show about crossing it out and having to put it back and 'Now I have to write a new slip' she couldn't just cross it out? No she made me wait as she wrote out a whole new one just to prove a point. read more

Clean and neat place with a wide variety of vintage Americana at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other reviewer on here. The owner has a shockingly poor business acumen. After my purchase, I was honest with her and confronted her about unobligingly saying something under her breath to her assistant about me as if I wouldn't see it. It was because I am a decorator and earmarked over $100 in merchandise at the counter, but wasn't ready for her to begin writing me up until I was finished shopping. She said "If that's the kind of customer you are, then I won't miss you." I was floored by that response and can't imagine returning. read more

I do enjoy the variety of items and the way the store is organized and displayed. However, I have also gotten "attitude" from "employees" when asking questions about an item (as if they were being bothered) and the lack of friendliness when checking out. My feelings aren't easily hurt so although I am a bit taken back at the lack of "customer service" it won't stop me from shopping there as long as they have what I like with reasonable prices. read more

I wrote my original review about Labelle Antiques in September 2014, but for some reason, it is not currently recommended. I am new to yelp, so I may have pushed the wrong button. So here it goes again: I love this place, the inventory is always changing. Great selection of everything from art deco, mid century modern, french provincial, and primitive. I have referred friends and relatives to Dawn, and she has always accomodated them. I am a local artist and she sets aside items (the rusty, crusty stuff that won't sell) and saves them for me. We used Dawn when we needed to get rid of things left at my grandmothers house. She drove almost 2 hours, and we went through the house with her. I already knew the general value of what things were worth, and I did catch her trying to lowball us on some old kids toys, and glass resistor caps from old electrical wires. She was very polite to me, and paid us cash on the spot for what she bought. She is an antique broker, she is going to haggle and try to get the best deal. However, she was totally open to haggling back. Also I had some items that she suggested I hold onto, because the value of them was down, but it was coming back up. Sure enough a few months down the line I got a lot more money out of them on EBay. I will use Dawn again, but as a customer you have to be knowledgable of what you are buying or selling. read more

The owner, Dawn agreed to purchase and remove our late Uncle's furniture back in late February/early March. She was very friendly and we were grateful that she could help us out. We gave her our address so she could send us the check. Fast forward to late May...NO CHECK, NOTHING! Very dishonest person. She should be ashamed of herself.
