The employees all value each customer and are more than ready to help, chat, and make you part of the family for your excursion. Don't sleep on their prepared foods. I grabbed a Prosciutto and Turkey Panini. The deli team sliced the meat fresh and spent time making this a delectable sandwich. You will be inspired by the rows upon rows of selections - pastas, sauces, sodas, peppers, biscotti, cookies. Yes, the aisles are tight but it is because they have so many items for you to choose from. When we checked out with 250 meatballs and quarts of sauce, the wonderful ladies at checkout gladly boxed it up and made it simple to carry our load of Italian goods to our car. read more

We love Labriola's Italian Market! My parents would take me sometimes. They've got most things one would wish for! This trip I got some Labriola's own brand jarred sauce, imported tomato paste, cannula shells, big container of ricotta for filling, some cheeses, decaf espresso, all kinds of things like THE spiciest hot horseradish The store is well stocked without feeling cramped and has a nice sized parking lot for the space. I came in here yesterday briefly just to check it out and see what they had. It was pretty tight in there so it was hard to maneuver with other people in the store. I didn't buy any prepared food because I had leftovers waiting for me but as soon as I walked in I wanted to it because it smelled so good. I bought a loaf of Mancini's bread and a salad dressing that seemed interesting and left. The employees seemed nice enough although I didn't have much interaction with them. I love Labriola's. Their stores are packed full of Italian staples and goodies and it has the smells to prove it! Their deli is impressive and of the best I've seen in Pittsburgh. They serve Boar's Head which is always a plus for me. There's typically a line at the deli, but it moves fast and the staff is very helpful. The frozen aisle is stocked with homemade classics and every flavor of ravioli you could ever imagine. I love their cheese and red pepper raviolis as well as the stuffed shells. They also have every cut of pasta possible, every variation of canned tomato and olive oil, and they keep a large selection of deli/sandwich accoutrements (mustard, vinegar, peppers, etc.) The aisles are tight, so I usually try to go during off-peak times. read more

This place smells so good!!!! You have to go just for the smell. It made me want to buy everything in there. They have a super wide selection of Italian dishes you can buy, fresh deli meats and cheeses, anti-pastas, breads and more. It's a smaller space but it's packed to brim with good finds. I love this store, I love the workers, and I looooove their prepared foods in the back! YUM! Got some potato salad, boars head lunch meats and cheeses, and a nice heap of their eggplant parm! They don't understand how time works. If you advertise that you are open until 5 p.m. then you should allow customers in until 5 p.m. I got there with 4 minutes to spare, knew exactly what I needed and they were all standing around the door with it locked. I love coming here whenever I am in the neighborhood. They have such a great selection when it comes to all things Italian. I am able to get all of the spices and ingredients that were often found in my Nana's kitchen, without having to make multiple stops at different stores. They have it all here under one roof. This place is the best. I hope it never changes. They pack it full of specialty products. It smells amazing inside. They have a lot of great items. If you're in a pinch sometimes you can find a fresh tomato, but this is mainly for deli, bread, canned goods etc. The workers have always been friendly to me. I have come here off and on for many years. They have a great selection of pasta, canned tomatoes, frozen food, cheeses, a deli counter, etc. all adequate to feed Italian food to your family. It's all packed in a tiny space. Isles are narrow so it's not a good idea to push around a cart. And the deli is always busy making it difficult to navigate around the store. Staff is generally nice and helpful. Things they can improve, and this relates to the size of the store, is that their fresh produce section is tiny. Another thing that I noticed just a few weeks ago is that pasta prices are not indicated on the package or on the shelf. I also wish they carried guanciale. Overall, I'll give 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5. read more

An Italian foodie paradise in Aspinwall! Walk into this tiny shop and you're immediately bombarded with shelves stacked to the sky with Italian pantry goodies -- jars of every kind of tomato sauce imaginable, dozens of different types of pasta for any appetite. Work your way the back of the store and you'll find their deli counter, chock full of fresh deli meats, cold salads, cheeses, antipasti, and pre-cooked Italian classics. I'm a sucker for their chicken parm, chicken romano, and stuffed eggplant, while my hubby loves their Italian sausage and peppers, crab cakes, and Italian meatballs. They also make sandwiches on site and have killer pizzas (try their tomato and herb pizza -- it's like bruschetta in pizza form -- heavenly!!) The leftmost side of the store contains their magical freezer section o' goodness. Anything and everything you could possibly want to serve a quick and fast Italian meal is found here. Garlic bread, raviolis of all different flavors, pasta fagioli, cannelloni, gnocchi, pasta sauce, lasagna, pizzas, mozzarella sticks -- it's all sitting here, frozen in time, waiting for you to pick it up, thaw it out, and have an amazing Italian meal in no time. And if all of that was not enough, Labriola's also sells a fantastic array of baked goods and sweets, both Italian (pizzelles, gelato, tiramisu) and not (apple pie, cookies). They also carry a small selection of non-Italian grocery items (soda, butter, milk, canned goods, ice cream, etc.) to help round you out if you forgot something during your regular grocery shopping trip. So while it obviously isn't a one-stop shop for all of your grocery needs, it can definitely help you avoid a one-off trip back to the wretched Giant Eagle (grrrr...) if you need something fairly basic. This is an old, family-run specialty store, and as such I always see the same employees here. The service I've received is what I have come to know as very "old school" Pittsburgh -- everyone is very helpful and nice enough, but also a little steely and stoic. I like to think that the employees are very much like the bread that they sell here -- somewhat crusty on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. I stopped it to pick up a quick sandwich for lunch. Not a bad little store, a lot of specialty Italian foods and a few other goodies. For the price, I found the sandwich was a little skimpy on the meats and cheeses. I guess you could compare it to a very small "fund raiser type" hoagie. Great specialty store that's full of surprises. All the Italian favorites are here. If you're looking for olive oil, the choices are astounding. There are equally great pasta choices. Meats and cheeses are sliced to order and prepared foods are delicious and reasonably priced. Don't forget to look up. There are treasures all around. Everyone is pleasant and helpful and the experience is how shopping is supposed to feel. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, my in-person shopping experiences have not felt safe as the store has tight aisles and no apparent system to manage safe distancing (i.e. waiting to check out), sanitize carts, etc. However, we are happy to continue shopping curbside or go in less busy hours because the food options are much more interesting than a big grocery store chain. read more

New Year's Eve, 1/2 hour before close, I shopped at this store in Warrendale, PA. Register line was long. I checked out and drove to my home nearly an hour away. I unloaded groceries as usual and then checked my receipt to be sure all was right. I was over-charged $105.99. The store was closed until Monday, so I had to wait until then to rectify situation. On Monday, I called and told the young Lady who answered the phone that I was overcharged and that I would make trip there to get the credit and to shop more. To my surprise, when I entered the store and indicated I talked to someone that morning at the store about an overcharge, the young lady who approached me had a lot of negative attitude. Her attitude made me feel like I did something wrong but I thought I was crazy and did a little shopping. All I said was that I was here for the over-charge. As I shopped, she disappeared and returned with a copy of my receipt. I thought, "how does she know as busy as that store was which receipt to pull because I gave her no info except that I was overcharged on NY's Eve. At the checkout, the Lady said she had something to tell me, and she rubbed her hands along both sides of the visa machine and said, "Do you see this machine? As a consumer you entered your card in this machine, thus you have agreed to pay." She further said, "you also have an obligation to look at your receipt before leaving the store." I replied that it was NY's Eve and there was a lot of commotion and stress at checkout which was true. I got very angry with her and did yell. I asked, "do you intend not to reimburse me the $105.99 that you over-charged me?" I was so angry with her attitude that I asked to talk to the manager. At that point she threw up her hand and waived toward a young man and said, 'he's the owner." She had no respect for her manager! And if I owned that store, she would have been fired for not treating a customer with respect. The owner said a few times, "you don't need to be so angry." I said that his employee put me on the defensive inferring that this was my fault that I was overcharged. He said his machine misfunctioned; and I replied that the exact same thing happened to me two year's prior when I visited this store. I won't return to this store. However, he did reimburse me and I do believe he had every intention to reimburse me. Also, he was very polite. Please look at your receipt before leaving the store. read more

This is a great specialty store that has every product you could possibly need to make great Italian food. You'll likely find a lot of items you didn't know you needed, as they only stock the store with the best of the best. Their Parmesan cheese is a personal favorite--way better than anything you'll get at Giant Eagle. I also recommend their homemade dishes, some of which you can buy frozen and eat at your leisure. Their style of food will remind you of what your Italian-American grandparents used to lovingly make, so don't expect gourmet pizzas or fancy pasta dishes. And that being said, I'd gladly eat here every day. They're not open long hours, and they're not shy about telling you when they're about to close, but as a family-owned store, you have to respect that they try to have lives. Their prices are on the high side; one gets the feeling that customers are supposed to be grateful for the privilege of shopping here. The lines at the deli counter are always long; the lines at the cash register during holiday seasons can stretch around the store (and there is only one cash register!) Worse, the level of food sanitation should bring down the wrath of the county inspectors. As I waited in the long holiday line, I noticed the following violations: worker eating her lunch in the food prep area; workers in the kitchen area not wearing hair-nets, hats or aprons; and, most disgustingly, a worker handling baked goods (pies) without wearing plastic gloves. (You are always supposed to handle cooked foods with utensils or gloved hands.) The worker who was scooping shredded cheese from a large pan managed to drag her sweatshirt sleeve through the cheese. ICK. Buy packaged food here, if you don't mind the inflated prices; don't, under any circumstances, buy anything they have cooked or repackaged. read more

I received a Labriolas gift card for $40 for a wedding present last year. I am not a native PGH person and I had never heard of this store but I drove by this location and decided to use my gift card up. When I got to the register to pay, they said "it's empty" (the gift card). No one accused me of trying to pull anything over on them but I stood there explaining it was a gift, and I was asked...are you sure you didn't use it at another location? "no, i've never been to any of your stores before" so we all just looked at each other, and so as not to look chintzy or like I was trying to scam them, I paid for the items I got (which I didn't need at all, just trying to use 'the gift'. Before I left a lady there did ask for my Name & # and said she could look up the card & call me. She called the next day or so explaining that the card had been purchased in 2013, and told me the specific days its was used, where, and for what $ amount. Ok, so that made it look even more like I was trying to pull something over, but I swear it was a gift. I'm sure the person who gave it made a mistake and maybe threw out an old card and instead threw out the one for me, but I don't know. I know it couldn't have been intentional. Anyway, if there had been any offer of 'we're so sorry, we will give you half of the value' or a % off discount or any offer of good faith towards me, a piece of cake,,,whatever, I would probably go back in there next time I drive by. But since they felt so intent on proving that I was wrong and I almost felt like they thought I was trying to scam them, I will likely never go back. read more

I wish I could give this place more credit. I am from Pittsburgh originally and LOVE going there when I come for the weekends. I usually stop there and shop for my Bubba en route to see her. It is always such a great place to find unique foods. However, yesterday my experience was less than poor-fair.... it was AWFUL! As I was checking out a product was mis-marked, so the cashier and I went back to double check and all of this product was mis-marked, so I was concerned because they were all mis-marked but I was being charged DOUBLE. When I asked to speak to a manager, he became very aggressive and rude, stating that "needed to take it or leave it" at the price "really" was. I was so taken aback by his rude tone and personal space invasion! Then he added "You knew it was marked wrong anyway, you KNEW it was suppose to be more." I could not believe it! I think I was treated terribly for a mistake that was not mine! After being a long time customer, I WILL NOT BE going back here EVER again read more

As a loyal customer for years to Labriola's, these past couple of months have been one bad experience after the other. One of the owners of the store (woman with short grey hair & glasses) who checks people out, is horribly rude. She has no patience for children, and told me that I had "little brats", they did NOTHING in her store. Today was the last straw, she screamed in my face because she thought my daughter touched her credit card machine. When I tried to explained she didn't, she screamed louder at me. It's a shame that such a terrible women in such a wonderful Italian grocery store. I would BEWARE if you have child when you visit. read more

I have been to Labriola's since I was a kid...and even though I live across the river I still make a point to stop there whenever I am in the area. Not only do they have great food, lunch meat, desserts and more, but they are extremely helpful and thoughtful too. Today I was there with my 2 young kids under 3 ( which every parent knows it is not easy to take the kiddos out shopping). Luckily they were being kept happy munching on some of their great pizzelles. After heading to the car with my shopping cart and bags of food and the kids, the one woman who works there followed out after me to put my groceries in the car for me and take the cart back for me so that I could just handle the kids . It was such a small gesture but greatly appreciated. This is a fantastic little Italian market! read more
