    Italian sub
    Elizabeth F.

I was finally nearby for lunch and decided to stop in. The menu options included subs and soups from 10-4. There are daily specials and the Tuesday sub option was meatball, a bit too heavy for me for lunch. I choose the Italian combo with lettuce, tomato, and peppers. I walked around the shop to look at other offerings. It's definitely a lot cleaner with the new ownership. There are frozen gnocchi and pasta options that look great. It's helpful to know and find when I'm in need for dinner to make at home. The sub was ready and there are salt, pepper, and mayo packets available. I left the sub as is and that was a good choice. There is good flavor with the ham and salami and the peppers added a nice flare. I'll definitely try it again. They're friendly and the food is tasty and reasonable.

It was a stuffed pasta, although I couldn't be certain if it was a ravioli or an oversized tortellini.

Getting a spot in a class is very hard since they are limited to 6-8 people, but if you get the chance I absolutely recommend it. The classes are 2 hours long each and are extremely intimate. Bryan and Justin will meet you at the door and will introduce you to their workshop. There is a spread of antipasto to snack on which was curated very well. Each person gets to make 4 (four!!) dozen raviolis each. The class is extremely informative and fun. I personally haven't ordered any of their ravioli drops before, but from eating the batch I personally made, I know I will in the future. Highly recommend ordering their raviolis online or taking the class if it's available.

To prepare it, simply drop into boiling water, then after it floats to the top, wait a few minutes. I also ordered the Marinara sauce which was delicious. The owner friendly and helpful. He noticed that this was my first order, so he took some time to explain a few things and answer questions. Parking is on the street, and I had no problems finding a spot. It's a fun experience and I will definitely do it again.

I opted for the cavatappi and marinara sauce. It came with 2 meatballs and a generous slice of bread. This was probably the best meal I've had in a long time. Seriously, it was SO good. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce was just acidic & sweet enough, the meatballs were incredible and the bread was out of this world. The best part? It was only $13.99! I took it to go and saved it for lunch the next day so my pic is not as pretty as it was freshly served. Would totally recommend trying this spot out!

Their ravioli are available in beef, chicken, spinach-ricotta, and potato-cheese. Their sauces include marinara, boscaiola, bolognese, arrabbiata, and pesto. Examples of their baked goods are cinnamon rolls, brownies, and macarons. Their other foods include arancini, gnocchi, and sandwiches. Currently, customers may order these foods either in person or online (e.g., Market Wagon, Toast, DoorDash, Slice, and Uber Eats). Catering is available. Through Market Wagon's website, I have placed a few orders for Soul Pasta's foods. Here are my opinions about the individual foods: Pastas: The bigoli noodles were very thick, and the mafalde noodles were very long ribbons. These two pastas were very fresh, consisted of several serving sizes, and were a much higher quality than what you can purchase from a grocery store. Sauces: The four sauces--marinara, boscaiola (mushroom), bolognese (ground meat), and arrabiata (moderately spicy)--tasted delicious. Desserts: I ordered the cinnamon rolls twice. The first time, they had no icing on top, but they did have icing the second time. They were little (a couple bites in size) and contained the right amount of cinnamon. The chocolate brownies were also little, and they were moist and very chocolate-y. The macarons arrived smashed, but I enjoyed the flavors of their fillings.

I made a reservation for two about a month in advance for a birthday dinner and chose the lounge over the dining room based on reviews about the different vibes. Since we had an early reservation, they were also able to accommodate our request to sit at the bar. We shared the spaetzle and fries with house-made ketchup. I ordered the grilled branzino and appreciated the instructions on how to tackle a whole fish. The dulse butter was interesting but a little too overpowering for me, and the vegetable side was a bit underwhelming. My husband enjoyed his roast half chicken and gave it good marks. We also loved the house cream soda and would recommend it for anyone looking for a nonalcoholic drink. Overall, a great birthday night out and a fun chance to expand our palates.

It's definitely a special place in Pittsburgh and they do take their menu and dishes very seriously. However, the flavor palette that they chose to showcase is not necessarily my preference. The experience is definitely elevated with a very professional and attentive wait staff. The decor in the longe is definitely a positive feature of this restaurant. Nestled throughout the nooks and crannies of the lounge are an interesting array of Nordic themed things to admire. I ordered the chicken for my entree and it was definitely not boring. It had a thick and flavorful glaze all over it and they incorporated lingonberry. Lingonberry is a theme throughout the menu. I also enjoyed a refreshing lingonberry mocktail to add another element of that flavor. Overall, a very nice restaurant in Pittsburgh worthy of a night out.

The venue is beautifully decorated and though it's small, they do a nice job with spacing of the tables for all the guests they can accommodate at once. They are also BYOB, but offer a QR code for a neighboring wine shop who will deliver any bottle you select and pay for via the QR code at your table - This is great because they don't charge a corking fee when you do this, but if you do bring your own, they charge a modest corking fee, I think $8. Their menu is excellent... it's filled with so many appetizing options! We started with their stuffed peppers - OMG, EXCELLENT!! Any time I'm in the Pittsburgh area I need to try a few things, this being one of them. These were probably some of the best I've ever had! The sauce was finely ground and really flavorful. The peppers were perfectly cooked to keep their beauty and texture and they were spicy too! We also requested a large order of their table bread and asked for a side of EVOO with it. I sprinkled grated pecorino and freshly ground red chili flakes into the EVOO to make an incredible dipping sauce which worked perfectly with that bread! For my entrée I enjoyed their amazing Spinach Tagliatelle which came perfectly presented and tasted amazing! The spinach was perfectly cooked to the proper texture and the sauce was so good I didn't mind it having eggplant in it (which I hate). Save room for dessert, their panna cotta was great! Overall, the entire experience was very nice, I'd definitely return!

They have an awesome joint deal with the winery next door called Grapperia where if you buy a bottle, they'll waive the $8 corkage fee. It's a nice place to try new wine at dinner. We got the smoked gouda and nduja pizza & scallop mezzaluna (with the latter as part of their new year menu). Honestly, the pizza was way better than I expected, I'd say the best of these two dishes. It was thin but well flavored with the gouda, tad spiciness (or rather kick) from the salami, and creaminess of the roasted squash. I don't normally like white pizza nor squash on my pizza(?), but this tasted rather good and unique! The scallop mezzaluna was as if the scallop was a ravioli filling. So the dish came with 9 half moonish pasta/raviolis served in a very simple sauce of lemon and processo. It was okay, my first time trying something like this but I wish there was more or had an oomph to it. I'd love to come back here and try more of their pizzas!
