We are in the basketball league (YBL) right now through open gym premier, and using this facility. The gym is large, able to hold so many games at once and has a mini food court! You need to come early if you want to snag parking next to the gym, if not you are parking across the street. It's very clean, spacious bathrooms and the second level is where they play games. There is no parking fee. You only pay on weekends for tournaments for club and high school teams. We've had a great experience so far and looking forward to coming back next season. read more

This place used to be a great place for kids to start learning basketball and hone their skills. Now the admin only cares how many kids they can get through in a night to collect fees. Teams are able to play dirty and cheat constantly because the referees are instructed to keep the games moving and not make calls. There is no consequence for cheating, rough play, or bad coaching, and you can go straight to the admin and they don't care at all. If you're looking for a league for your kids to learn basketball and sportsmanship it is not here. read more

This place is a total scam and they nickel and dime the parents to see their child play against other teams. First of all they charge the parents $25 to park ( this is Ladera Ranch and not Los Angeles or San Francisco where you see paid parking around the community). I decided not to follow the rules and parked down the street from the facility; even though they even though they had signs telling you they would tow your car away if you parked somewhere else. These losers even had security available to bully the parents about it. Now, on to scam number 2 they charged me and my wife $15 a piece to see my son's basketball game. Third scam is they would not allow outside food and they have a limited/ expensive food menu. I feel a company like this should be ashamed of themselves. Low quality events, had our 10am game canceled after making the drive down from L.A., the team we were scheduled to play forfeited both games the day before, btw this is their own OGP teams so they could have let us know now we're waiting around for our second game until 1pm, we did get our entrance fee refunded but time is worth more than money. The gym obviously made a deal with the town so you are not allowed to park there and are forced to pay $20 to park in their garage. If you frequent travel basketball teams you may notice that many of the spots they hold them in are hella hot . LSC had great airflow thank goodness and perfect lightening for your videos . I attended a big basketball tournament that utilized all their basketball courts. This place should get shut down because how HOT it was in the gym during this past weekend. The sweat from all the players on the court is a huge hazard. So many player slipped because of how HOT it was inside the building. Just sitting and watching the games you were sweating. Plenty parking at a price. Admission fee. Everything no cash. First visit here, not much difference than any other facility. Maybe cleaner than average gym, as courts are very clean. (No dust gathering in the corners). Metal bleachers or cushioned chairs with backs. Do not know if they allow stadium seats? Did not visit the small snack bar, with ample seating. Men's restroom clean. Women's restroom ok. (Per OP). All in all a good place. Court side seats are real close to the court boundaries. Older spectators, may want to opt for the 2nd row of the bleachers to stay out of harms way. read more

Is it Ladera Sports Center? Or is it Open Gym Premiere? Not sure. The facility is very new and really nice. This gym charges parents $20 per person per day to watch their kids play in tournaments. While that on its own is a lot they also charge you $25 per day for the convenience of parking there. That's $90 per day per parent. Not only that but you can't bring in your own food. You have to buy the food they have available. I write this review as a really pissed off parent from a completely emotional response. I go to every single game my kid plays in. I drive hundreds of miles a year to go to my child's sports activities. No problem! These facilities are fleecing parents to make money. Nothing wrong with making money...I make money. We all make money. But this is a gross overcharge...conservatively let's look at some numbers shall we: I don't know what they charge the teams for participating. I don't know if they charge the coaches & referees for parking. Their website says they serve 75,000 players annually. That's a lot of fees collected, right. But let's assume for giggles that we are just talking a weekend 2 day tournament. 6 teams with 10 players each with the assumption that each kid has one parent in attendance. That's 60 parents or guardians. 60 x $90 = $5400 Let's say you only hold these tournaments 26 out of the 52 weekends a year. 26 x $5400 = $140,400 If a second parent comes for half of the players add an another $1200 per weekend to that total. 26 x $1200 = $31,200 Nevermind siblings and grandparents. That's at least $171,600 for half a year of tournaments. The number of weekends is probably low since you are running all seasons. Add to that total that you are running leagues, camps and classes all year. Also add what you are making on food to that. In an already overinflated California economy you can't see it to charge parents maybe a $10 parking fee. Shame on you. read more

OGP Ladera's YBL (kids program) is pretty low-level. Most of these dad-coaches don't know how to teach the game, especially defense. So if your kid is good offensively, the other kids get frustrated and just tackle him. The refs hardly ever call fouls, and even if they do, no one fouls out, so these dad-coaches just tell their teams to keep fouling. As the better kids start realizing there's no development and games are clusterf***s, their families leave OGP YBL and move onto club ball. read more

The facility is actually quite good. Clean, good courts. The operation however is silly and basically what is wrong with AAU and kids sports. It's $25 to park with virtually no options for public parking anywhere. It is $25 per person to get in. The tournament fees have become so inflated because of OGP. They don't let any outside snacks or food in so the only options for hungry kids is junk food, or gas station quality sandwiches. Overall you are easily spending $300 for a basketball tournament, before eating or anything else. I am sure that some people will just say "don't go if you can't afford it!" But the result is just a bunch of low quality games played with only the small segment of families that can drop the money regularly. read more

Wow, what a nice place! Air conditioned, Padded seats and quite roomy between courts. Can't believe we didn't have to haul our own seats around to cushions our Butts from the bleachers. I'm here for a 3 day tournament. I do a lot of sports travel around the state and this place by far is the worst when it comes to their fees. Food is overpriced as well. Staff is rude. Courts are nice. I want to also add that they guaranteed at least 3 games each day with a 2 game on 3rd. So far it's been one game each day. Came here for a boys volleyball tournament. Very modern facility with six courts. Which isn't that many when it comes to tournaments. Overall good experience with a few unpleasantries... they do not allow outside food, but then don't have the capacity to feed a full house at peak lunch time. 50 min. Wait for a pizza when you only have 30 min. break doesn't work. I drove to the nearby mall and got Panda Express to eat in my car instead. So did many other parents in the same predicament. I would suggest to management that they buy a boatload of Dominoes pizzas, keep them warm, rebox them and mark them up. Win win. Sell them by the slice. Have food premade to handle peak times. Don't sell a salad that has only lettuce (WTF?). A bit more ventilation would be nice in a gym full of sweaty pubescent men. $20 parking during weekend volleyball tournament. Multiple electric vehicle chargers at $0.35 per kWh and four hour limit. Standard ChargePoint 30KW level-2 J-1772 chargers. My son has played at many sports centers, but this one is top notch. I was very impressed with their cleanness and overall care of their facility. The caretakers do a great job of cleaning up. The restroom are always clean. The courts are clean and well presented. There is plenty of room to watch the games. Beautiful, new Sports Center! Free parking and plenty of spaces! There are only about 8-10 tables, so if you're coming for a volleyball tournament make sure to get here early if you want one for your team! Each court has seating, so no need to bring chairs. And the curtain-type things that separate the courts are SO much nicer than the floor-to-ceiling nets everywhere else. A smaller venue than ASC or MMTSC, but so much cleaner/nicer/quieter! And there's a small snack bar w/reasonably priced drinks & snacks if you forget yours! read more

A brand new sports facility in the southern OC / Mission Viejo area with some extra perks to offer. I recently went to a SCVA Volleyball tournament and the experience was great! Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised that they offered FREE parking for the event. A second plus was that the parking is directly under the sports center courts at street level. It was pouring rain so it was great not to get all soaked or have to hike a block away like at some other places. Also admission wasn't too bad - $7 for adults. Doors opened promptly at 7 sharp. Of course players always come early but they were accommodating by letting players and coaches enter from another door than the parents and spectators to keep things moving. They also had separate debit and cash lines to help organize and speed thing up. Inside the 8 courts are gorgeous - nothin like that fresh court smell and shiny paint. Immaculate floors and nets. Scoreboards were all electronic, for volleyball this is unheard of. Very nice and easy to see for the spectators. Large LCD screens all over the walls advertising for local eateries. Kind of distracting at the courts but I get that they are trying to help cover the cost of the venue. Seating was average. Some bleachers only 2 rows high and about a dozen fold up chairs on each side of the net. People still had to stand so maybe another set of bleachers would be a better addition in place of the chairs. Each court had nice transparent curtain dividers which not only looked good but were safer than the netted ones. Players sometimes slip on the netted dividers when going for balls. Since these don't go all the way to the floor this is avoided. A really nice amenity for our event was that all the courts were being live streamed on the Ladera Ranch Sports Center website!! Super cool. Friends and family were able to watch the matches at home! I really liked that. Hope this is a trend for these sports complexes. The All Star Cafe snack area was nice. Not huge but offered a reasonable amount of choices for food. Sandwiches, Baja Fresh, Domino's Pizza, baked goods, drinks, coffee and more. Note the Baja Fresh and Domino's are delivered in so selection is what it is and it arrives AFTER 10:30. Breakfast burritos were available for breakfast hours. Although there were signs for "no outside food and drink allowed" we saw some teams bringing in plenty of food. I wouldn't risk relying on it being allowed all the time however. Camping was clearly not allowed but some set up anyways. If you have a break and looking for more food there are Starbucks, Blk Burger, Jerrys Wood Fired Dogs among other places all within walking distance. Also available onsite was the well loved Acai Super Bowls, a fav among the athletes. The seating area near the All Star Cafe was decent for a normal event, but with each court hosting 4 teams there is always 1 team off resting and that means 8 full teams plus parents and coaches to sit somewhere. The design was fine if it were just a place to eat your food and go but when it becomes a waiting area it gets crammed. Along with this the entrance to the courts is the same corner as the entrance to the restrooms on that level, so this is a high traffic area. Restrooms get crowded but am told that there are more on the first level too. Overall a well run and clean facility. The website is great and the staff was very nice and considerate. I am a fan! Besides the drive down, I look forward to playing more tournaments here. read more

This basketball facility is incredible. My son has been playing there for about a year now. There are many options at varying skill level. I like how many kids come from all over. I have only been to a few other courts and have not seen any as up-to-date and well kept as this one. Additional fees not included in league package be prepared for additional costs. read more

What a difference a year makes! The first time I came to this venue last year I was blown away. Really fantastic facilities and eight beautiful basketball courts with score boards visible for each. Fast forward to this year and another basketball tournament. This time however they've made some unfortunate changes. Parking is no longer free! They nickel and dime you and take $10 to park in their lot per day. Surrounding businesses have had to fight off people looking to park elsewhere for free by posting signs saying "no sports complex parking: violators will be towed". Thus, you are forced to pay the fee. The other unfortunate "injustice" is a new blanket rule preventing tripods from being used of any kind... This includes mono pods... EVEN if they are going to be rested on the bleacher bench instead of the court floor. I understand wanting to protect the courts, however whoever created these rules must not be aware of rubber feet on the bottom of tripods/monopods. If they believe that those rubber feet will damage their courts, they should reevaluate the folding chairs they have along every single court sideline: they have rubber feet made of the same material and hold people weighing hundreds of pounds more than a camera. If the concern is the spread of the legs and the danger of tripping (which I know it isn't) then at least limit the van two tripods and not mono pods. It's a hypocritical blanket ban that makes it very difficult for someone like me from the media to be able to capture quality material across multiple games throughout the day. Great facilities but unfortunately not media friendly. read more

We were here for a volleyball tournament. They charged $20 or $25 for parking and $20 for each parent. Then they charged $10 for kids 5-12 to watch their sibling pay. A lot of other volleyball gyms do not charge for kids 5-12 because they know it is greedy and too over the top. Ladera Sports Center aka Open Gym Premier Ladera Ranch needs to stop charging for kids 5-12. I will reluctantly accept the $20 parking charge ($25 is too high) and $20 per parent charge as I know why you have to charge it, but you have gone too far with the charge for the children. By trying to extract too much money from parents, you are splitting up families by some staying at home to save on the outrageous fees. read more

We've been here for many basketball tournaments. Nice facility but this will be our last even if our program continues to participate in their tournaments. It will cost you $20 to get in (parking + gate fee). But that's not the big deal. The big deal is the point in the tournament when you play one of the many many many Nikos teams who make up half of the teams playing in the tournament. This is their home facility. DUH! Suddenly the game changes when playing a Nikos team an you realize you're playing the Nikos AND the refs who are clearly local, have the contract with these guys, know everyone and all the calls go their way. I mean they will literally make sure Nikos wins. It's crazy. Adios Ladera. It's too fishy in there. Update: the business owner can say my experience is untrue all he wants but I have no motive other than accountability and looking out for others who are not interested in that kind of experience. My time and money and my kid's experience is valuable to me. And to be clear, this is not my first rodeo. I'm on my third son who has come up through AAU basketball, I've been to Ladera for at least 5 tournaments, I've been to upwards of 30 tournaments across 3 states over the last 8 years, I ref AAU basketball every week and this is the second negative review I've posted in my life. Beware! Don't eat there at the All Star Cafe! I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and it had MOLD on the cheese. I saw it on the cheese immediately when it was served to me. Gross! I gave it back. The old guy who made it and was in charge took it back and didn't even say sorry. He went to the back and was going to make me a new one. I had to call him back and tell him I didn't want any salad. I ended up ordering an açaí bowl. Also the bathroom facilities were not in service. There was something wrong with their pipes. This is our 2nd tournament this year and probably our last at this facility. It is a very nice facility however, they charge for everything. There is no discount if you purchase a 2 or 3 day pass. Most events at least offer a $5 or $10 discount for purchasing a 2 or 3 day pass. It's understandable that the facility needs to maintain the upkeep but they charge for every single thing. read more

Be AWARE, during COVID when you walk into this facility, there is no enforcement of masks, no one controlling the flow and number of people entering, no social distancing, no controlled seating for spectators so that there is distance in between. We have experienced other sports facilities that enforce all of the above, control the number of people in the building and even spray down the spectator seating areas in between games. Excellent sports venue to play basketball and volleyball. The facility was superbly maintained with plenty of spectator seating. What is not such a good thing is that they charge $10 a day for parking. You can take your chances and park a few blocks away in the shopping center, but then you may risk receiving a parking citation and having your vehicle towed by the city.
