Was it under the lids of the serving trays? I knew I wanted more than just lumpia and since they had a sign that said "vegan pancit and lumpia" I just ordered it. They make the lumpia fresh. I needed to wait about 10 minutes and I was OK with that. I ordered to go so when I opened up my container in the car, I took a bite out of the lumpia and it was steamy! But I was hungry!! A PARTY AIN'T A PARTY WITHOUT PANCIT Not all pancit tastes the same! I'm a picky pancit eater and my standards are high: glass noodles only, vegetables must be shredded or cut down to decent size, vegetables has to have a soft but a little crunch texture - no soggy vegetables, choice of protein must be shredded and blended well into pancit, yellow color can't be too dark or too light, cannot be too greasy, and have calamansi available for squirting. And guess what, Lady G's Canteen met my expectation! You can trust this Filipino Elite Yelper. I discovered Lady G's Canteen on Yelp as a result of searching for a good Filipino/pancit catering for a party. Without hesitation (not having a taste prior) I trusted the photos and reviews. After going to many local Filipino eateries and not being fully satisfied with their pancit, I had to trust my instincts. One thing that caught my attention was the calamansi (instead of lemon) in the photos, you don't usually get that offering at other places. 1) Called Lady G's Canteen and a very friendly lady named Jemmalyn coordinated my catering order. They deliver in San Diego proper if you spend over $40. She was kind and accommodating to deliver when my order was only $35. The fee for delivery is $5. In addition, her communication was spot on. I received confirmation and an invoice. They do not take Venmo or PayPal and I paid cash when they delivered. 2) Price to portion - portion to price, was worth every penny spent and then some. I ordered a small tray which estimates feeding 10 people. In reality it could feed probably 20-25 people because the 11 people it fed put less than 1/4 of a dent in the tray so you can imagine the left overs. 3) Delivery presentation had effort. The aluminum tray was nicely fitted and elevated over a cardboard box. This helped with not getting any food grease on me and it kept my hands from feeling the warmth of the tray. Foil covered the top with small holes for ventilation. MY TASTEBUDS WERE DANCING. All the Filipinos who had a serving had said "this is really good pancit" and I agree. Probably the best pancit I've had in San Diego. I miss homecooked meals but this will defiantly do to hit the spot. She is now my go-to person for my Filipino catering needs, especially the pancit. If A-1 Customer Service is a must have for you, then this is the place to be! I first started purchasing food from Lady G's at the farmer's market. They offer both vegan/plant-based and non vegan food. Usually I don't go to places that are vegan options but somehow I got to talking to the owner, Jemmalyn, and discovered she is very conscious and aware of cross contamination so she does not use the same equipment to cook the vegan food. She had just switched to a vegan diet herself and was still offering non-vegan options because that is where her existing client base is! Well okay! Ever since then I have hired her company for many events and she has fed my family on Soul Food Sundays; vegan for me and non-vegan for them! The food is amazing, the presentation is ALWAYS immaculate and the love Jemmalyn and her family give to their customers is showcased in every aspect of their food. Her daughters were helping our right before they closed the Grossmont storefront and they are as loving as their parents. I love their vegan pancit, the presentation is always so beautiful. Any adjustments you need made to the preparation of your food, just ask! Soul Food Sunday is my favorite which I think is now Secret Menu. My favorite is vegan BBQ baked beans, greens and potato salad. My family LOVES the fried fish and my take on the vegan phish is that it is great and the frying of it only gets better! Terrific choices of Filipino food! There's the usual lumpia, and pancit. We like the breakfast bowl; it has the fried rice, longganisa and over easy egg. Also, their veggie lumpia. They hav a refreshing Kalamansi juice- kinda like lemonade. There are other goodies to try. I happen to be in the response in our food court about a month ago and discovered this Filipino place. It was closed at the time it looked like it had been abandoned so I left a voicemail on their phone number and the owner called me back 10 minutes while I was still walking around in Grossmont center she said that they're trying to play with their days to find out what days they want to be open. What day is they want to be closed and they don't know quite when they're going to be open and when they're gonna be closed, I thought that was a bit annoying to be told that but she was very nice so I was very nice back so finally yesterday 12 2222. I had some food there. I went there about 5:30 PM with my friend and all they had left was pancit eggrolls and chicken adobo, so I ordered the pancit with the chicken adobo. It was like $14 for one item with pants. It is a staple, which I think is really overpriced! The chicken adobo is more like just baked chicken. It was really good but it was not chicken adobo usually I think of Tita's kitchen or somewhere down in national city that has really good chicken adobo or up in Rio Mesa but I will definitely say this was not chicken adobo, although it was good, but it was not worth 14 bucks for two pieces of tiny chicken blocks that were not on the bone. The Ponset was very good. Sorry about the misspellings. I'm transcribing it on my phone but I don't think this place is worth it I think if they want to stay in business, they should offer about 20 normal Filipino things that every other Filipino fast food offers and they should lower the prices down to about 10 bucks for two items and seven or eight bucks for one item and give her rice as a staple automatically like every other Filipino restaurant does if they want to be a little more millennial/fusion offered brown rice, but it did not turn me onto want to go there again read more

I have been eating like a G since they were at the El Cajon farmers market. The flavors are always A1 and NEVER disappoint. My favorites are the panict with veggie lumpia as well as the garlic rice. My absolute favorite though is SOUL FOOD SUNDAYS!!! Every Sunday there are fish and vegan physh plates available with choices of Mac and cheese, collard greens and candied yams as side options. A moist cornbread comes with every plate and their banana pudding is the perfect way to end such a great meal or snuggle up at night and end a great day, either way make sure you don't leave without a banana pudding, only on Sundays though. I have been a customer for over 5 years and the wonderful service by the owner and workers have stayed top tier throughout the years. Took me a while to decide on what food to serve at my beach party. I am so glad I decided on Lady G's Canteen for some Filipino food. Communicating with Jemmalyn regarding the menu was so easy. Everyone in our party including the hotel beach staff and lifeguards enjoyed the shanghai lumpia, pansit, veggie lumpia, turon, bbq chicken and most especially, the lechon kawali! Portions were generous. We barely even put a dent in the small order of pansit. Everything tasted authentic! Delivery was prompt and everything was kept warm. Passed by at the farmers market in hillcrest with my girlfriend this past Sunday and the food smelled amazing. We were greeted very friendly by one of the employees and educated on all the options they had. Truthfully we were so hungry it didn't really matter, we knew we were going to order something. But the fact that they took the time to let us know what they had, and offered samples of whatever we wanted really gave an extra sense of hospitality and care. It was a super hot day so most people were grumpy and inattentive that we encountered so this was a breath of fresh air for us.
