There are multiple North Park Produce in San Diego. Noticed that each one is independent of the other and they have different weekly ads. This location has a small parking lot but they also acquired additional space across the street behind the dentistry. This location is smaller than Poway and that's because the Mediterranean hot food stand is inside along with the bakery items. The center of the store has someone making fresh tortillas. This store was recommended by Baron's Market. What a great grocer! I was on the hunt for Kataifi to re-create Dubai Chocolate Strawberries. I called ahead to check that they stock the item. A friendly gentleman answered my call and confirmed that indeed they do. Upon arrival there was plenty of parking for a late Friday afternoon. Don't be fooled by the storefront, it opens up to aisles and aisles of goodies. Plenty of produce, dairy, meat, bakery items and hot food bar. The sweet clerk walked me over to the Kataifi (probably the same one who answered my call). I quickly looked through the aisles to peek at their offerings. Friendly staff, variety of items and clean store. Will definitely be back knowing they are so close to me now. read more

We have been shopping at North Park Produce for many years. The change in ownership has resulted in many positive updates to the store. The prepared food section is bigger with a wider selection. The store is also much cleaner and brighter than it was in the past. A recent great addition is an area and a machine for making fresh corn tortillas. Super nice because it's taking over tortilla production since Pancho Villa's closed. North Park Produce has an awesome selection of olives, oils and grains as well as fresh produce. Produce is excellent and reasonable. Kind of like a Farmers Market, with both great stuff that have competive pricing mainstay staples that aren't worth it. They have Mexican, Arabic, Mediterranean, Italian, and Greek staples. I usually get my pita bread here and recently my produce. Also, bulk goods are good pricing. Ever since Pancho Villa closed, North Park Produce on El Cajon Blvd., seems to have taken advantage of the lack of competition by dramatically increasing their prices. Their deli prices for prepared foods are outrageous, their Mexican salsas are ridiculously expensive, and even the feta cheese I used to buy there has become unaffordable. The prices of their spices don't make sense either. Sadly, it's not the same store anymore. Every time I shop there, I notice another price increase. Another thing that doesn't make sense is that they keep many of their potato varieties in refrigerated coolers. By the time I bring them home, the moisture causes them to spoil quickly, and they don't even last a couple of days in my basket. It's really disappointing because North Park Produce used to be one of my favorite places to shop but not anymore! read more

First time at this particular location and it's basically your friendly neighborhood international market with a side of chaos in the parking lot. Pro tip: say a prayer before backing out. I had a close call! Eek! They've got a solid selection of produce, baked breads, canned goods, hot food, grains, and premade meals. I scored a melon, red onions on sale, and a bucket of hummus because that stuff is my drug! Living my best dip life! The salad bar looks decent and fresh, the corn tortillas look legit and authentic! Looks like the tortilla machine is working it's magic! If you're into olives, teas, or Middle Eastern pantry finds, then this place is your jam! Also spotted some tabouli and baba ghanoush. Another pro tip: Check out their weekly flyer for good deals! Downsides? Prices can be a bit on the high end depending on the product import, such as teas. They also have a variety of dates which seemed higher in cost. So that can be a hit or miss depending on what you're looking for. I find myself coming to NPP more and more. My main reasons are fresh herbs, such as green onions, parsley, and cilantro. Good quality, and very good prices. NPP has a lot more than that, though, especially now that they have taken over tortilla making from the late Pancho Villa. They have a house brand and other brands, too, like Tortilleria Lily, plus sopes, huaraches, tostadas, etc. They even have takeout favorites like tacos and chilis rellenos. Of course, they still have the usual restaurant menu, and some items, like falafel, appear to be vegan. Best middle eastern dishes and fresh produce! The location is always clean and tidy.

I have shopped here for many years and the fruit and vegetables are almost always cheaper than a large supermarket. I buy some of their Mid-Eastern jarred and canned goods, also very good. Plus the bread they make in that special oven and the different varieties of feta cheese are delish! They've added a lot of Mexican food that I haven't tried but looks great. Came here for a plater they offered online on tiktok meat and rice 21.99 went to the store to order it at 5 pm they didn't have it he said I have the meat but not the rice and I'm not making anymore rice. Ok maybe I'm too late so 2pm the following day I call because I said let me call in this order when I get on the phone with the kitchen I tell him what I wanted to order and he said I don't know what that is but I have rice and I have meat. I feel like if this is a special or something let the people know so it's easier to order because it seems like a good deal. The crazy part of this is this place ready hot food section is much different than the same place in el Cajun city . I do not recommend to eat or take out from this place when comes to middle eastern food . Shawarma it's in the plate instead of been like gyro grill and the hummus in the Togo plate is super watery . They are a little pricey so if it's something you really need and can't get it from other places this place will more than likely have it. They have a fresh open intentional salad bar which looked really good. Their bakery section could use some help but when it comes to a variety of international teas this place has got you covered. It's a great place to go for Mediterranean food and Halalel items if you eat that way. However, I was underwhelmed by this place. Some of the produce was very fresh and reasonably priced, but others were not. Their shelves have many Goya food/beans, which I love, and some interesting Middle Eastern items. I also loved that they have a lot of different sauerkraut; I may go back and get a jar of that next time. Parking lot is challenging to get in and out of, I bet it's a pain on the weekends. Anyhow, it's not bad, but it's not great either. I love Pancho Villas. It offers fresh food, and it's clean inside, with ample parking. However, I'm not sure I'll be back here. Note: I am a vegan. Walking into the store, you're immediately hit with this amazing, warm, and comforting scent of food cooking and the way I like to come home. There are so many reasons to like this store, especially for someone not native to anywhere close to the Middle East. Here are a few: 1. Fresh baked bread in a stone/clay oven - nothing comes close. 2. Huge selection of pickles, olives, and olive oil, with good prices. 3. The mini restaurant in the back of the store - the beef shawarma by itself - is worth the trip. 4. Freshly made hummus, baba ganoush, and tabouli. 5. Excellent and reasonably priced spices and dried herbs - make this your first stop the next time you need to refill your supply. I seem to find myself getting lost in here every time I go because there's so much to discover and learn. This time, I was able to find chai tea in a tea bag - no added sugar. I can't wait to try it! The jewel of today's visit was definitely Nowar (sp?), the sweetest and hard-working lady who took the "restaurant's" orders, served hot bar items, and answered the phone for pickup orders. I visited here about a year ago and tried the lab chops. They were a solid 10/10. I went there Sunday with my wife and ordered lamb shank and beef kababs. The food was far from good- maybe just edible. The beef was leather tough- as tough as it gets with very little flavor. The braised shank was also dry and lacking much flavor. Tons of rice that served only to disappoint. The stars are given for the salad, which was good. I don't know who is cooking there but I would highly recommend you taste your food before putting it out to sell. The pre made meals are for people in desperation. I was and I won't go back. The street tacos are cheap if you're willing to wait a while. They're stacked so I'll give them that. This is an elaborate convenience store with everything marked up quite a bit. The hot food kinda sits there so manage your expectations. I would like to get canned food and sweets that you don't found in other stores but the products are often expired, opened or damaged. You have to check items before you buy. I don't know how they are able to sell opened containers of food with the seal broken. Really disappointing. Produce seems fine but prefer to get produce and meat elsewhere. It's been a long time since I've been here. I stopped by to get some French feta cheese for a dish I will be making for a potluck. I also picked up some prepared foods - the red cabbage salad, pita bread, and meze platter (which included baba ghanoush, tabbouli, tzatziki, and grape leaves). Overall, I found the food to be delicious. I did not see labneh in the prepared food section and I hope they add this item. I can't rate the the quality of other items in the store since I only come here for specific foods and don't shop here regularly. read more

Honestly one of my favorite places to grocery shop. I love how I can get items from other countries here. And their vegetables and meats are always very fresh! I come here all the time for their Greek Imported Feta because I refuse to buy feta anywhere else. The staff is also very friendly every time I come, which is something I always appreciate in a store. The only downside is some of the items that you can find at another store are way more expensive here. I try to always go somewhere else for any basic household or grocery item unless it's an emergency. read more
