My family and I came to Cape Coral for a trip over this thanksgiving! We also wanted to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday. I researched for a bakery, and am so so glad I found LadyCakes! I sent an email and was responded back to very quickly! It was such a smooth process ordering the cake as well. The website is very user friendly, and I loved looking at the gallery of the other cakes that have been made! My mom loves to crochet, and I knew I wanted to cake to look like a basket with yarn on top. LadyCakes did such an amazing job! I could not stop smiling when I picked the cake up, and everyone absolutely loved it! We chose the marble cake with vanilla buttercream on the inside and the basket was made with chocolate buttercream. Everyone thought the cake was absolutely delicious, and it's gone now haha. The detail of the yarn was so amazing as well. Those were styrofoam balls covered I think in fondant. I wonder if they could be made with Rice Krispie treat as well and then literally everything would have been edible. LadyCakes did the cake for my baby shower. My mom worked so hard to plan for this party. It was at 2pm. We picked up the cake at 9:45AM. A 15-person cake cost $150. The reason I am leaving this review at 1 star is because of the lack of forethought from this vendor and lack of accountability and responsibility. 1. When we were given the cake NO special instructions were given 2. We picked up the cake & drove straight home (I had it on my lap). I set it on the baby shower table. It looked perfect. 1 hour later it bubbled (see before and after photos). Temp was set at 74 degrees inside the house. 3. I immediately put the cake inside of the fridge. 4. Called the owner and she said: "this isn't my fault", "weather is unpredictable", "you can pop a hole on the fondant to let the air out" Ok, this kind of crappy and entitled customer service may be acceptable in Cape Coral where cake places are less common but not in cities with more competitive markets. My mother called today (post party) because she forgot to present her $10 coupon and the owner didn't accept it. My mother and friends have purchased other cakes from this establishment before but they should avoid it and so should you. Can you imagine your wedding cake being this kind of disaster? The cause of this issue was that the owner did not provide proper care instructions and made the fondant elephant too heavy. Update: Based on LadyCakes' reply-- Asking a customer to come back to get something fixed (day-off the party) does not equate to good customer service. Also, bad performance will not drive customer retention. To reiterate: no special instructions were provided whatsoever for the cake and the house was set to 74 degrees. A party usually does Not consist of having a centerpiece cake inside the fridge 100% of the time. This flawed argument makes me wish there was a 0 star review. That I had to pick up 1 dozen cupcakes. I was so irritated I just came in, got a dozen and gave them to my neighbor Have not been back since. Really short sighted on their business practices. They'd rather keep a few bucks than trying to retain customers Anyway I LOVE Publix cakes so no loss This is in follow-up to ladycakes response. Again I gave a full week notice and I was buying a selection of the daily cupcakes. Your policy penalizes people who are ethical and are trying to work with you Other businesses do have Cancellation policies that are reasonable i.e. "cancellation 48 hours prior to delivery no refund. ". But your blanket policy of absolutely no refunds is ridiculous Where in your store does it say that My suggestion is that you do some research and look at other businesses similar to yours to see what their policies are. If you want to grow your business you need to look at customer retention. They had a unique theme to the wedding and the owner acted like she plugged in and understood everything they wanted. When the day came the flavors were nothing like what we sampled, the decoration was just a plain naked cake- which was never discussed or ordered and the cake was extremely small and very unimpressive. We also purchased the size based on her recommendation. She took our business from another bakery with her many undelivered promises- we definitely made the wrong choice.
