This little corner bodega gets the job done. The fellas running it are friendly and helpful. They did a major renovation about 6 months ago or so, and it's nicely done. They have nice hot breakfast sandwiches and pastry and several coffee options. There is a nice outdoor sitting area where you can enjoy. They also have a really nice craft beer selection. This place reopened and is so much cleaner and nicer than before. They're definitely going upmarket. Got a decent prosciutto sandwich that was definitely not standard bodega fare. read more

I just moved into the area a month ago . Fist off the store smells like cat p1ss , being they have a cat running around the old dirty store. The short cash register dude has to be the one of rudest jerks , I asked for a ham sandwich and they forgot to add the mayo and lettuce ....so he decided to throw an expired packet in the bag...and wrapped some lettuce in tin foil ...are u fn kidn me ??.... I just paid 10 buck to make my old damn sandwich....at that point i was hungry and in a rush...so i just let it go .....as I get home ...the ham has MOLD on it .....I rushed back to the store and to the the register guy who happens to be the owner...he says it's not mold ...sometimes ham has green grey fuzzy spots ....and he said i cant refund me .....u have to be kid me ???...STAY AWAY from this cat , rat disgusting place ...pretty sure they did use gloves either read more

This is my local and i love it. The staff are kind and the sandwiches are great. Always friendly and sitting down outside, you can watch the neighborhood go by. This store has sent me the wrong items multiple times. It is like they don't even look at what I order as the items are so different than what I actually order - it is extremely strange. They don't answer their phone when you try to call them to let them know of their error, and never exchanged my items the last time. The one time they picked up they hung up on me. They claim they have items they clearly don't have and customers don't learn it until they are sent incorrect items they are then stuck with. There are many things you expect to find when you enter a grocery/bodega; drinks (cold water, soda, iced tea, V8 (you better!), beer, etc), derivatives A.K.A junk food (potato chips, cheetos, trans-fat-festival), canned goods (Chicken Vienna Sausages, Campbell's soup, Tuna, SPAM, etc), a variety of Cancer Sticks (Marlboro, Camel, God-forbid-unfiltered Lucky's), fruits, mints, chocolates, bread, and in short; everything you need when you are on the quick, or on the go, or on the red (hint, hint, shopaholics LARCONS "Last-resource-cup-o-noodle" category inferred) What you certainly don't walk in expecting to find is honesty, and this is exactly what I found on Lafayette's Grocery last Thursday. So, have you ever walked through a predominantly residential part of town, where no sign of commerce seems to be present? This particular stretch of Lafayette in Brooklyn is just like that; brownstones upon brownstones, no convenient store for the next 4 blocks or so, and before you scoff away, let me tell you that it can be hell to try to pinpoint a convenient bodega when you just need "that thing" that you are missing in the morning or at night; whether it's milk and OJ, or tobacco and beer; a grocery store sitting *ahem* conveniently in the middle of a residential fiasco can be a heaven sent! And so I went in to buy some stuff, it was crowded and I was in a hurry and I didn't noticed that I gave the dude one Lincoln more than I should have. I was walking away when he literally shouted, and went out of his way to bring this to my attention. I was perplexed at this show of honesty, and thanked him, and I even got an anniversary pen from the guy, which commemorated in simple fonts, Lafayette's Grocery 25 years in business. Oh man, Lafayette Grocery just made my night. I've been looking for a local place that sells hookah coals for a few evenings and assumed that this grocer wouldn't have any. They didn't. But what they didn't have in store they made up for in fantastic advice and pointed me to a halal grocer on Atlantic. Everyone else just looked at me like I was totally ignorant and shook their heads at the request. So there you go. Exceptionally friendly staff and decent prices considering it's a corner grocery in Fort Greene! I come here almost every week and I love their selection of beers and seltzer's but there is one guy in there never wearing a mask. It's terrifying and he doesn't seem to care at all and he's not behind any plastic or glass barrier either. He will also come up really close to customers to ask if they have questions and it makes me so uncomfortable! read more

If you are even in downtown Brooklyn, you need to stop by Lafayete Grocery and Dairy. To start, the staff is very friendly and will help you find whatever you are looking for. The store shelves are fully stocked and over a wide variety of products. Produce is very fresh and offer organic and gluten free products. As I ventured through the store, the aromatic smell coming from the deli caught my attention. They serve anything from Boars head deli meat sub to Middle Eastern Kabobs. The deli is fully stocked but I chose chicken Kabob. It was moist and succulent and the plate was piled with a generous amount of rice and salad. All condiments and dinnerware were easily accessible. Any variety of their freshly squeezed juices would be great but I chose a freshly squeezed cup of orange juice. It was fabulous. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get.
