Ventured into the store while walking home from a stroll. Realized I wanted to make some tacos for Taco Tuesday dinner so thought I'd see if I can some ingredients here. Upon walking in I was immediately shaken by the huge variety of items they have for such a small store. They have cleaning supplies, they have sparkling water, they have a big selection of veggies and stored goods. I was able to find my way around the store with ease and I went home happy with my taco night supplies. I am unable to comment on service since I did not ask the store employees for help, but will certainly add more information in the future as I come back in the future for quick grab groceries! Ordered a turkey wrap for $7. The turkey meat was standard but tomatoes were sour. Added a ton of mayonnaise without me asking. Service is good though. One of my favorite NYC delis! I've moved around quite a lot during my 7 years of residence in NY. That means, i've encountered many, many delis during those years. And by far, Gold Street Market is still one of my favorites. I've tried a couple of their sandwhiches, but I will always stop by for the philly cheese steak. Their philly's are super saucy and stuffed with meat, cheese, and whatever else topping you want to add. They really don't try to play you with the amount of food they give. I also occasionally stop by to get smoothies, and they're always spot on and reasonably priced. Although not the largest bodega, they have a solid selection of groceries. The prices for them are standard for bodega grocery prices. I also do like their selection of Asian, mainly Korean instant noodles for when i'm craving some at midnight. read more

Every single time I come here past midnight they try to inflate the prices and charge extra thinking that I won't notice. Every single time I call them out on it and they make up some excuse for it. It's extremely unethical and it's not a proper way to run a business. I live right next door so you would think it's in their best interest to maintain customer loyalty. I live right next door and this place is fantastic! It's open 24/7, the prices are great for what you get at the deli, and the food itself is great too. It's great because I can get things like smoked salmon or chicken salad cheaper than Wegmans or Trader Joe's . The shakes are great but I found out that they put half and half and sugar syrup in it, so I have to stay away from those... although a little indulgence every once in a while doesn't sound like a bad idea. The grocery prices are a bit expensive, but then most bodegas are more expensive compared to wholesale markets. Once you get past that, a midnight snack from here doesn't sound like a bad idea. read more

Gold Street Market offers surprisingly upscale food items (fire-roasted poblanos in a jar? cambozola cheese?) and most items are definitely more expensive than they might be in other stores but that's the premium you pay for convenience and 24/7 access. I asked the counter person to wash his hands before making my smoothie and he refused. I've witnessed the cooks eat the fruit with their hands while chopping it up. food never comes with any condiments and more than 60% of the time the order is incorrect. only reason I still go is because there is no other deli nearby that makes hot food but I barely finish my plates anyway. I asked for oatmeal and got a cup w floating oats in water. the fruit put in the container is spoiled most the time. And the guy who works in the morning is a total dick. read more

Last night I came to Gold Street Market and something I wasn't expecting happened. I ordered two panini sandwiches to go (Chicken Fajita and Tuna Melt). They both came on pita instead of bread! At first I was a little worried because I was really expecting two slices of panini-pressed white, wheat or Italian/French bread. However, once I started eating them, I was impressed! They were both delicious. Perhaps it shouldn't have surprised me as much as it did, but I thought it was worthwhile to update my review so that others know about the pita in case it's not your thing. As an aside, the Chicken Fajita was much better than the Tuna Melt. I tend to like my tuna melts on the cheesier side, and this one just wasn't very cheesy. After having been here well over a dozen times, I can tell you that my favorite sandwich is the FDNY - breaded chicken cutlet, cheese, lettuce and tomato. The first thing I noticed is that the two ladies working behind the cashier are super friendly and greet each and every customer. Highly recommend. After a long week of vacay and eating out there sandwiches made for a simple supper. Had the Brooklyn bridge sandwich and the roll it was served on. Oh my word! Soft and delish. My friend I visited lives right next to this convenience store. I've tried their sandwiches twice. They're good. Not super fantastic. But still respectable food. This last time I ordered their lamb schwarma. They ask if you want it with white and red sauce and what kind of bread. I said sure to the sauces and I wanted it on a pita! Turns out the sauces are like a mayo/yogurt/tzatziki type sauce and hot sauce. Pretty good, pretty good. Though I did get this at 3am. Score for being open 24 hours!
