I took my Shih Tzu to them for the very first time, had been taking him to PetsMart, but they came up with this nonsense that they had to charge me extra because he weighed more than most Shih Tzus. Mind you, he's almost 5 years old & I've been taking him there since I got him at 4 months old, so this kind of seemed like just another ploy to make pay more money. Anyway, I decided to give Lafayette Groomers a try. I'm so glad I did! They did such a great job with the grooming. They were so friendly & kind to me & my dog. The price was reasonable, too. The only Groomer my fur babies will ever go to. Tina and her staff are amazing. They go above and beyond their job to ensure your pet feels loved and cared for while they get fixed up to look their best. My pommy Pheonix looked forward to going to see the Groomer. I would say " Pheonix needs her nails trimmed and she would waddle her little self to the front door and wait and whimper till we took her out to the car and took her to see Tina. While waiting to tell Tina I wished for her nails to be done and her fur trimmed a bit. Pheonix would try to push out of my arms to get to Tina for kisses and snuggles. It is the best feeling ever, to know your baby feels loved and safe while there to be pampered. Pheonix hated to get her face wet but the staff there held her gently and talked to her in such a loving manner and she would relax and get her nose to tail bath. I wish there were more stars to give this Grooming team. Because I could fill them all up. This team is amazing and I love that they take time to talk, cuddle, snuggle and most of all show how much this in not just work to them, they genuinely care. The most horrible place I have ever took my dogs too! I should have went with my gut instinct when I seen the rude assistant and dirty shop (to say the least). I gave them important information about both dogs that went totally ignored.I was charged more on a dog she was already charging me more on from the agreed price we made before I left them. When I returned ( less than 2 hours for 2 dogs?), they had the door to the area where they keep the dogs locked and my scared fur baby seen me as soon as I walked in the door and was scratching at the Asssitant to pick her up because she was scared to death and wanted her mama! But the assistant kicked at her several times in front of me before I had to yell at her to stop kicking my baby and unlock the freakin door so I can hold her!!!! Unbelievable! She was more concerned about getting the money ( that was higher than we agreed upon in the first place with the owner) and when I questioned her she was very rude and unprofessional and that's being nice. So I asked the owner while I was on my way out about the over priand I seen her in their little cancer smoking area (right in front of the entrance of the shop for all customers and animals to smell as well) and she told me it was for the dog that she was already charging me more for in the first place! So it was obviously a rip off! When you already agree to a price on two dogs and one dog is charged more in that quote due to some matted areas that she seems to charge you more for for some stupid reason because I know you just shave them off or cut them so that is her job to begin with...?? Very strange! I have never been to a place that up charges me on a few matted areas that they are going to chop off in the first place. And to be charged twice for the matts is unbelievable! Your job is to bathe and groom the dogs and a few matts is just part of it. You don't nickel and dime your customers for things you are supposed to do anyway!!! 45$ a dog and done in less than 2 hours is obviously an easy dog to groom. I have never picked both of my animals up that quickly so it's obvious that they ignored and rushed thru my animals without any care at all. Especially when I found cuts on the back of my male dog after I had already told her to watch out for these particular miles when she shaved him down. Plus not giving a crap that I had also told her my female was very timid and scared of loud noises, strange people and animals so her assistant sat and kicked at her when she was trying to get to me with all her might when she seen me and she totally ignored her request and cared more about getting paid before she gave her to me. She's very lucky I didn't call the police in her for abusing and kicking at my dog just because she trying to get out of those inhumane conditions. The owner is very knowledgeable and kind but her staff is very unprofessional and the owner did rip me off on the agreed price beforehand. Who knows what kind of products they used on them and if they were even cleaned and used correctly seeing how quickly they got both of them done. Plus the owner mentioned that my male dog might get an ear infection in his ear and for me to watch out for it. Well.... I'm sorry but I clean and baby both of my dogs ears and everything else that has to do with me my dogs and they have never had an infected ear. So unless you sprayed water in his ear without protecting it correctly because you were rushing thru the grooming or unless you used unclean instruments when you cleaned his ears or unless you just ripped the hair out of his ears without any care if it hurt him or not then there shouldn't be an infection and why would you even say that if there wasn't some kind of mis- care to his ears that you knew would cause trauma to his ears in the first place. I check my dogs ears daily and I clean them weekly so I know he had no infection when I left him at your filthy shop and I am still beating myself up over leaving them with you. I never pay that much for my dogs and I always have to wait at least a half of a day before I pick them from their normal groomers that are ten times more trained, cleaner, profesional and care about my fur babies. I only brought them because I had to get them done quick and I had took my older male there 7 yrs ago and I didn't experience any of this but I did remember you weren't as clean as others but you did do a good job and my older dog likes anyone. But my female doesn't and she was there this time and things were completely different so I will never be back! Warning! Please take your animals were they are trained and don't kick at your babies when they are trying to get to you and scared out of their wits! I feel so awful that I left them and trusted my most prized posesiones to you. No one wants to smell second hand smoke when the walk into your place of business and they definitely want to be quoted the same price they agreed upon from the start.
