They used to do dry cleaning, but when I went there, they no longer do dry cleaning. It is still an amazing laundry place and if I didn't have a washer and dryer, this is the place that I would come to do my laundry. They are clean and kind and helpful. If you are in Detroit and need to do some laundry, stop in the Lafayette Laundry. This is by far the cleanest laundry mat I've ever been in. There are a few graffiti murals that brighten the space. There some video games for the kids and sitting space where you can charge your phone. You can either do your laundry yourself or you also the option of a drop off service, which is nice. I wanted to give this place a zero!! I'm posting from my car in disbelief from the treatment I just received from this poor excuse for an establishment. I went to pick up an item for dry cleaning that was scheduled to be back today. It wasn't. So I asked the individual working when it would be ready and I received a shrug and that they should be ready tomorrow. I asked if she could call they because I need the dress tomorrow because Saturday is my parents 50th vow renewal. This woman had the nerves to tell me to be quiet!!! What in the world kind of disrespectful mess is that...I did not cuss or disrespect this lady. The lady had the nerves to stop talking to me!! Like not a single word. I asked for the managers number or someone else to speak to, nothing at all but her continuing to ignore me. So used to love coming here getting all of the laundry done at one time even though I have my own laundry at home.The former owners were awesome, customer service was excellent they sold it recently and boy what a difference came to the laundry at 9:15 the closing time is 11 PM was greeted by a most unpleasant individual who said with the last load have to be in by 930 right that's 15 minutes from now no problem then at 10:30 As I'm finishing up because for some reason the dryer is now take a lot longer he tells me we're closing in 15 minutes and I told him no you're closing in half an hour just all-around rude won't be back and by the way when I come to do my laundry I usually spend about 60 bucks. Since we moved to Detroit about 6 months ago, we've been going to Lafayette Laundry do wash our clothing. With two adults and 3 kids, we potentially generate a lot of dirty stuff, but Lafayette gets us clean and dry quickly! With big machines, big dryers I can get the clothing washing fast. The staff is friendly and the place is fairly clean. My biggest pet peeve is the fact that out of what seems like at least 30 machines in which to wash, there are only 6 single load machines. I wash every weekend and my loads are fairly small. So, there is usually a wait on a machine or two when I go. This really sucks because I have to sometimes do one or two loads at a time instead of doing them all at once. It kind of defeats the purpose of me going to the laundromat because there is one washer and one dryer in my apartment building. To make matters worse, one of the single load washers was broken today. So, they're done to five machines with four people waiting to use them. I asked the attendant if any were going to be added and he said that the owners were actually going to take them out and that they want people to use the double and triple load machines. Well, that doesn't work for single people like me who are new to the area and just need to wash for ourselves and not whole families. The single load machines are already high at 2.50 per load. The machine in my building is only 1.75 per load. I just come here to save time, which I never end up doing here. I refuse to pay 4.00 per load for 6 - 9 items. I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

When in town I use this place to do my laundry. Staff is nice, hours of operation are reliable. Clean and comfortable. For the most part the washers are reliable. The dryer's need a bit more heat. I have small loads and need to add more money to dry my items. Restroom supplies are always low or need replenishing, but that is an easy fix. read more

I'm a business traveler and stay often in the downtown Detroit area. I've been using this laundromat for their wash-and-fold service ($1.25 a pound, 10 pounds minimum) and I love it. I usually drop off my laundry in the morning, and pick it up after work. The laundry is very neatly folded and separated and packaged, which I love because I would never have done that myself. The owner and workers are extremely friendly and recognize my face - recently they've included a handwritten "Thank You" card every time I go pick-up which was a nice gesture. I once dropped off laundry at 7:30 p.m. (an hour before closing) and asked if I could get it the next morning before 8 a.m. (an hour after opening) as I had a flight to catch - the staff said they were really busy that night already but they still guaranteed they'll rush it in time for me and made it happen! I'm here now writing this review... On free wifi. It's a big spacious laundromat. Very clean. There is a kids areas, which is nice for when I absolutely have to bring the rugrats. Today I lucked out and my husband has them. I am sitting in a lounge area with a public library bookshelf, relevant newspapers and flat screen tv's. I kinda don't even want to go home. Went on a busy Sunday and got 3 weeks(don't judge me!) of my laundry done in 90 minutes didn't have to wait for machines at all. TV area with CNN on and wifi seating area. Fully stocked snack machines and some vintage video games. Reasonable cost for machines, I think I spent $17 on washing and drying everything. Sits in a shopping strip with a couple restaurants(Thai I've have that's pretty tasty) and a soul food spot that gets good reviews that I'll probably try out when I go back. Lafayette Laundry is a clean facility. I have high expectations when using laundromats. My laundromat in Ferndale was sold. The new owners were remodeling it. During the height of COVID-19, I did not mind driving miles to the Lafayette Laundry. I met the owner there. He is a sincere person with high expectations for his facility. His attendants wiped down the machines very often. They are helpful and want to make your visit to the facility a pleasant experience. The washing machines and dryers are new and well maintained. The customers were required to wear a face mask while in the facility. They have ample seating, folding tables, several televisions, and vending machines. The laundry is spacious. There is ample parking. It is located in a strip mall on Lafayette Boulevard. I am back at my Ferndale location, but Lafayette Laundry is my emergency place even though it is miles away. read more

I've been using this laundromat on and off since they opened. Typically the staff is very friendly and helpful, however today (around 7:45pm) was an absolute exception. The laundromat was practically empty, and there was no one at the counter. I brought my bedding over to the 8 loader machine near the dryers and put my stuff down. I went to get change, and while it was dispensing the coins, all of a sudden this guy (I don't know his name but he has a facial tattoo) approaches me from no where, while I'm getting my change out of the machine, and abruptly asked me if I'm doing laundry here. I was very taken aback by this, and told him yes hesitantly because I have no idea who he is or where this convo is going. He then tells me only customers are allowed to get change. I again told him I'm doing laundry in the 8 loader machine, and my stuff is over there. He then walks away, turns around, and comes back to me while I'm still getting my $20 worth of quarters, and mutters something while he is approaching me, and then mentions I shouldn't be sarcastic. What?! I looked at him like he had three heads and didn't respond because he clearly doesn't understand the word sarcastic or what sarcasm actually is (see this is written sarcasm right now!) because cautiously hesitant is not the same. Clearly there is an issue with random people wanting to use the machines for change that aren't customers. However, there is nothing on the coin dispensary machines, store windows, doors or even the counter to state this unknown fact--and if there is, and I missed it, then the sign is small and hidden in an array of other stickers or posted signs on tiny window between the sliding doors and the regular swinging door so make it BIGGER!! Secondly, this guy clearly doesn't know how to correctly confront customers/people in a place of business without acting like an inept, uneducated, aggressive jerk. And thirdly, since no one was in the laundromat, he should have been at the counter until 8pm, when the doors get locked and everything gets shut down. This experience with the employee was so off putting and the fact that supplies are almost never in stock, and there seems to be a lack of machines (or people not taking their items out in a timely manner), I'm not coming back to this place again--I can't wait to try the new laundromat over on Mack and Van Dyke run by Macc Development Commons. I'm sure they won't lock up the shop with customers inside of it, while he leaves and goes next door before closing time. Wow.. read more

If you need to drop laundry, this place is great. Large area kept very clean with plenty of machines if you're their to wait and do your own. We left 10 pounds of laundry for $10 and it was washed and folded in 2 hours! Saved us a heap while staying at a hotel downtown. Friendly helpful lady served us. After the recent flooding in my area, I had a huge pile of ski clothes, blankets, sleeping bag, comforter, towels and rugs that I didn't want to throw away but had no way to sanitize or restore. This is a great laundry mat. The building is clean and spacious. The machines work, and are very fast. There are lots of counters to sort and fold on. The people working there are really friendly and helpful. In fact, the other customers are really friendly too, and gave me advise about how many quarters I needed in the dryer. (Not as many as I would have guessed!) THis place even has a nice area for little kids. The prices are very reasonable, and it is the closest laundry mat to down town Detroit and the Ren Center. The vending machines sell detergent and fabric softeners, and others have snacks and beverages. Excellent convenience. read more
