Hey everybody, Welcome to Long Beach and this wonderful little mom-and-pop Lafayette Liquors. Walking inside this little neighborhood liquor store I was immediately impressed by the vastness and depth of the wine selection here. This little store is exactly the type of hidden Jewel that I love to find. These little locally owned places have all sorts of rare and long since sold out vintages waiting in their back rooms. Walking inside I could see that there were thousands of bottles of wine in this little store. You couldn't NOT find what you were looking for. and the folks here were really so nice helping me and answering my questions. Not only was I able to easily find my favorite Ruffino Reserva Gold Label Chianti, still wrapped in Ruffino's emblem embossed tissue paper. But unwrapping it I happily discovered it was a sweet vintage 2010. @$43..A wonderful rare find indeed. This vintage and label will stand up next to the finest of Wines in its category. This will make a most fitting toast to enjoy with my wife and moon cakes. I thought it was adorable that the little place was husband and wife owned and I loved seeing them working here together. I really prefer to support local family-owned businesses exactly like this place. I would certainly prefer to pay a few dollars more here then patronize the big box bullies. So ..take the train & phone in your orders as you're on the way.. or park in the Free parking Rite Aid shopping center across the street and just walk across. And what's not to love?? A liquor store that DELIVERS ..in case you're running low at your party I'll be back again real soon as it's a convenient little spot I know that I'll be greeted with a smile and I'll always get what I need. Park Ave and Edwards Blvd, asking for a wine donation to our upcoming fundraiser. The owner of the store stated he did not support law enforcement organizations, nor did he care that Long Beach would be hosting the families of injured officers to our beautiful city... read more

Would love to give review but disappointed with establishment's attitude with Law Enforcement. I definitely will take all my future business elsewhere and will recommend you do same. I hope he never needs the assistance of Law enforcement in the future. read more

Low quality products and overpriced. Shop elsewhere. Unfriendly service. Not many selections.

I tend to be the five-star guy or at least the four-star guy but I encountered the height of rudeness at this poor excuse for a business. Here on yelp this store is billed as selling beer but it doesn't and the owner (?) got angry when I asked. Seems I'd interrupted his dinner. I asked if he sold beer. He barked at me No beer! I don't live in Long Beach so I asked where I could get beer. It seems like a perfectly reasonable question. Again he barked, Across the street. That was no help. A@@hole. read more

Being that girl who rarely imbibes, I must giggle at myself a little bit for reviewing a liquor store. However, there are a few essential pleasures in life, and enjoying a bottle or two of $4.99 screw-top Negro Gato red wine on the beach with friends IS one of them. A stone's throw away from Long Beach, Lafayette provides many fine wines and liquors (all at decent prices) to make your beach trip just a little bit more pleasant...and perhaps a little delightfully fuzzy. (Don't worry. A roast beef sandwich from Brand's Deli will cure that. I am speaking from experience here, people...) read more

Not only is the selection very minimal, but there's bottles everywhere nothing is organized and they're completely overpriced and very rude! I got three bottles of in expensive wines that would have probably cost me 38-42 anywhere also cost be $51. When he first rung it up he was trying to charge me $56 when I questioned he got nasty n said these are chilled! I said no actually they aren't I took them off the floor (literally) and he rolled his eyes in aggregation! Normally I would choose to go to any other place but happens to be I was around the corner so I stopped in. My second time here I should've learned my lesson the first time! read more

I picked up a bottle of red wine tonight to enjoy at Wild Feast, Long Beach's new 5 star restaurant. It's just around the corner from Lafayette Wine and Liquor. The cashier at Lafayette Wine and Liquor recommended the bottle. He was all smiles as he took the cash I gave him. At the dinner table, the cork was crumbling when I opened the bottle and unfortunately the wine wasn't drinkable. Fortunately, I was just around the corner! I brought the bottle back to the cashier at Lafayette Wine and Liquor. He appears to be the owner. I asked him to exchange the bottle. He insinuated that I was returning the wine because I didn't like it. I showed him the cork which you can see in the photo taken at his counter. I patiently explained that he sold me a product that was bad and I politely asked him to exchange it for a different wine. He outright refused to exchange the wine. He pointed to a sign under the counter "No Refunds". I wasn't asking for a refund. What's that voice I hear coming from behind him? A woman seated behind the counter, in a dimly lit space, is now chiming in and stating that they will not give me a new bottle of wine. She appears to be his wife. Where am I? Is this Long Beach, NY? Who are these people? This isn't how we do business in this country and we don't treat customers with such disrespect. Please consider this review and purchase your wine elsewhere. read more

This is my go to liquor store in Long Beach. It is a "mom and pop" store. Very friendly. Always well stocked. Excellent wine selection for a small store. Walkable from train and beach. I find the owners to be knowledgeable and courtesy. They also deliver. read more

owners are RUDE followed my friends and I around acting like we were going to steal or something? then the woman yells at us for not scratching off the code on the scratch offs.... when that's her job to do so. my friend buys a bottle pays and everything then the woman asks for her ID as were about to leave... horrible customer service, they both had attitudes. I am on vacation and came to this establishment and was very displease with the services when my family and I walked in an employee followed us the whole time after gathering our items we showed proper identification and when it came time to pay the man said " I'd rather you all pay with cash" now we are an African American family however we watched two other customers have not one issue inside the establishment and they both paid with cards. The manager on duty seemed shocked when he found out one of us is a law enforcement officer and tried to change his approach or attitude however at this point we were livid and took our business elsewhere. In my opinion if you are African American you business is not wanted here!!!! read more

My girlfriend and I picked a wine that costs $10.99 and tried to check out but the cashier (owner) stated he only takes credit cards for purchases of more than 15 dollars. I checked my wallet and told him that I unfortunately only have 11 dollars. So he rang me up and the register displayed $10.99. He said no problem just give me the cash. So I gave him the 11 dollars and as he was about to hand me the change I told him to just keep it and we left the store. We walked down the block and waited on the corner to cross the street. About 5 minutes later the cashier came running from behind us yelling. He came right up to my face and shouted "You owe me money!" He said, "You only gave me 11 dollars!" I explained that that was exactly what I told him in the store. He screamed, "You own me a dollar" and that I was stealing from him. He also stated that I should know how much it costs and that it was my fault for not paying him. I assumed that I was transparent about the fact that only had 11 dollars in cash. I also assumed it was the cashier's job to know how much everything costs. Being that he was extremely rude, and becoming confrontational, I gave him the wine back and walked away before things escalated... Therefore I traveled 5 minutes away, right over the Long Beach Bridge, to Liquor Warehouse where there were FREE wine, scotch, and vodka tastings. They were very nice and DID NOT scream in my face. Liquor Warehouse had a sign in the front - "All Sales Are Final" -a big difference from Lafayette Liquor Store which had a sign in front that said "Many Big Sale." ..... Not only did the person at Lafayette Liquor Store make a mistake, but they blamed me for it by making a scene on the corner of Park Ave and Edwards Blvd. It was crazy, rude, and plain wrong! I should also mention that I ended up getting the same exact wine at Liquor Warehouse for 3 dollars cheaper and it was already cold and ready to be imbibed. After this experience I really needed a drink. read more
