I am not a fan of doctors and spent decades steering clear (home remedies, duct tape on bad wounds etc.) of them until I had my first visit (she came highly recommended from a podiatrist) due to extreme gout pain I had been dealing with for years, A dr. who actually talks to you getting to know you and your issue(s) and explaining the different ways you can attack to cure/treat. This is how it should be done. EVERY dr. in this country should be booking a visit as a patient with Dr. G and learning this is what patients deserve. I would go to the ends of the earth for these two women due to how much better I feel today both physically and how that has made me feel mentally. I was tested before coming in and found that I have extreme candida overgrowth. So I assumed the infection I had was a yeast infection(I had every single symptom of a yeast infection). The doctor said it was instead BV and prescribed me antibiotics. I had had the infection for a full week before coming in. I'm now a full 2 weeks in and still desperate for relief. I took the antibiotics for 5 days twice a day (morning and night) and it made my infection WORSE. So I called to see if I would be okay to get off of the antibiotics early to see if my symptoms cleared up. Today is the next day--they aren't completely gone but much better. Then I started to bleed. Rectal and vaginally (I had my period 2 weeks ago and I am very regular so it's not that) but mostly rectal. I have had cramping in my uterus area for 24 hours. I take OPKs to test for ovulation and my LH has not yet peaked as it should have days ago. The antibiotic they put me on severely messed with my body. If I continue to bleed into tomorrow I'm looking at an emergency room visit. When I was there I felt like the nurse wanted to be doing anything else and the doctor was aloof. Claire Donnelly (FNP) has been absolutely wonderful. In fact, I probably owe my life to her. She is kind, considerate, listens well, works with the patients and extremely knowledgeable. I had been to many doctors over a period of 10+ years, but none seemed concerned about my high iron count. Claire put together a plan of action based on mutual feedback between her and I.
