Donald R. Really bad experience with Lafontaine Ford of Grand Blanc on Hill Rd. In June of 2025 bought a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica from "Dan" - very nice salesman. Took good care of us, however not there on the day we picked up the vehicle. There were two 2023 Pacificas next to the one we purchased for $22K that were more, we wanted the cheaper one, got it, turned in a Dodge Journey for $4K (neither good nor bad) so $18K difference then paid $5K for bumper-to-bumper warranty. Basically $24K cash out the door. Within 2-3 days my wife noticed cigarette smell inside, called Dan and said we hadn't noticed that, could they remediate it? Sure, bring it back. One trip back, leave it, return to pick it up later - no improvement whatsoever. Another complaint to the Used Car Sales Mgr this time. Told they have someone with an "oxidizer" that can get it out." we're back there, leave it with them again, and this time the smell is gone. Next I notice the instrument panel lights over the drivers head don't work - honestly, it was about 5 of 6 lighted panels, working everything from side doors to rear trunk lid, etc.- simply did not work. I don't know why I had not checked them, I don't know why Dan had not shown them to me, nor did I know WHY they didn't work on a 3-year old van but back we go a third time. Honestly - this was all in the first week or so. Leave it again - this time we're told it's a wiring harness in the front of the vehicle that will be a $1000 and oh, by the way, it's NOT covered by the $5000 bumper to bumper warranty you just purchased. We really raised a fuss then, got two service managers between two different locations bargaining and finally "only" had to pay one third of that I believe. After 10 days my wife simply asked them if we could simply give them the car back for what we paid, purchase one of the other two Pacificas for their asking price, and pay the difference. Oh no, we were told - it's been 10 days - and one thousand miles - we have to have the car re-appraised. Now, it is all of a sudden worth $4000 LESS than we had paid ten days before?!? Were they ripping us off then, or are they ripping us off now?!? We simply left, we were done paying these charlatans money. Sadly, the story doesn't end there, though. I have a company in TX I wanted to purchase the vehicle through, but keep it at our home in MI - was that okay? Sure they responded - they'd send the plates to me. Needless to say, the plates never arrived. 90 days go by, the temporary tags expire, and we have no plates. Countless calls to the dealership, trips to the Secretary of State, back to the Dealership, anther trip to the Sec'y of State - and we did not receive a license plate for the vehicle we paid cash for in June, until November of this year. Literally from Sept. until Nov. we could not drive the van legally. It was not entirely LaFontaine's fault - they simply were too ill-informed when it came to selling a vehicle to an out of state business when the vehicle was going to remain in state, yet all their attempts at reassurance got us nowhere and it was ultimately my wife and I who had to resolve the situation. Again, the salesman was nice, I have NOTHING else good to say about this dealership, and would recommend folks stay away from the used car section at the very least. read more

If I could give a zero review I would, I had a car for sale by owner and I received a call from Renee Gonzalez a sale person from LaFontaine at 2229 W Hill Rd telling me they wanted to buy my car, the car was in very nice shape and for a 2017 it looked like new with only 22,700 miles on it. I made it very clear what I wanted for the car, Renee said she would check with her manager and get back to me. Renee did call me back after talking to her manager Jamie and Renee said they will give me the price I wanted, I asked if she was 100% sure because I was coming a long way and she guaranteed me that when I came in I would get the price I wanted, that was on a Friday, I asked if we could do the deal on Monday and she said yes. On Monday Renee called me back just to make sure I was coming in with the car and again I said are you 100% sure they will give me the price I wanted as I was coming a long ways and Renee said yes. We drove two cars to the dealership about 45 minutes away and when we arrived to the dealership Renee came out and looked at the car and she could not believe how nice the car was, we then sat in her office for about 45 minutes and then Zak came in and said the car was super nice but he could not give me the price that Renee and her manager Jamie promise us. We left very upset and drove both cars back home, so after about 6 hours of our total time we were not very happy. I called Jamie the manager the same day and she blamed it on the computer and then I ask to talk to the general manager and he did call me back but did not do anything to help me even though he agreed that I was 100% correct and did not even offer to pay for the gas in both of our cars. This is a new dealership and I think they put all the money into the building and not into the people they hired. So if they tell you something on the phone do not believe a word they tell you, they just want to get you in so they can play games. (What a big waste of our time.) read more

I had a great experience buying a new truck. Cory and Dan really went above and beyond to help make the deal easy.

Unfortunately I had the worst experience I believe Ive ever had. I reached out to my mom for help because I couldn't get anywhere. We are both completely frustrated. I bought 2012 Jeep Patriot from your location November of last year and have made just two payments on the loan. I have to admit that sales  experience was great. I was made to feel very comfortable and all my questions were answered, while everything was explained to me. My mom was there guiding me, this was my first vehicle that I was financing. A couple of weeks ago my engine light came on and I wanted to make sure nothing was wrong. Based on my buying experience, I thought Id bring the Jeep back to have it checked out. Biggest mistake ever! I made the appointment for Monday the 7th at 8am to drop off my Jeep on Sunday night. Around 2:30 Monday I decided to call the service center because I hadn't herd anything. After several attempts of no one answering, my mom decided to give it a try on her break while at work. She was able to talk to Devante in the service dept,  He claimed my vehicle was not there, they knew nothing about an appointment because they dont make them. After several minutes she became very upset explained to Devante we did exactly what we were told to, park right behind the building, fill out an envelope with the keys inside and drop them in the slot in the door. The keys fell on the floor, there was no box. My mom explained to Devante exactly were we parked the car. Out side the door to the left. He told her, I was just out there and did not see it. She asked him again to look. While they were on the phone, he opened the door and stated, "oh, I see it now. I didnt notice it before." I believe there are only 2 to 3 spots to park outside that door, I dont know how he could of missed it. He then claimed he had no keys, he would have to look for them, so he would call her back in a few minutes. An hour later she called back and he told her he got busy, and still no keys.  About 30 mins later he finally called and stated, " he did find them, someone thought they were for an insurance claim. She was also told Chet must have made her appointment and normally everyone drops off their cars off the night before and they try to get to them with in 24 hours.  She asked if the car would be looked at tomorrow morning, he told her he was writing it up right then and it would be looked at in the morning, this was at 4:38 pm. The following day, Tuesday, she called Devante at 2:30 pm asking what was going on. She was told the Catalytic Converter needed to be replaced. She explained we only had it for 2 months, he told her, don't worry you have the after care package and it will be covered, he just had to call them. He also told her, it should still be under warranty  because of the year and mileage of the vehicle. My mom asked for the code that came up so she could research it and she was given only one. She asked around and it was the converter but after Davante reassured her it was under warranty, we were both upset but it was going to be taken care of. My mothers fiancee is and has been  a mechanic for more than 30 years and  said, the codes were cleared before they sold you that car. We asked around and sure enough, that's standard procedure. My mom called the branch, talked to a man that did make the appointment in the first place for me and stated, " the appointment is right here, Im looking at at."  She asked to speak to Tom our salesman. They did talk, she explained the BS we were being put through. He told her that one man he needed to talk to had the day off but would reach out to him for sure call her by today, the 10th. As you can probably guess, again no call.  Your team has an issue of making promises that can not keep. I got a ride up to the dealership Wednesday to pick up my Jeep. The engine light is still on, after $149, they couldn't even clear that. We did reach out to Devante again. His response was, "He was sorry about the inconvenience. It was his understanding the tech cleared the codes. I can go talk to him about why the codes was not cleared. On Wednesday Devante sent my mom an invoice for over $2800, nothing is covered and now there are 2 codes. The price for labor is outrageous. Your team has completely dropped the ball on this one. We are completely upset and over LaFontaine. I look forward to the survey hoping that it may stop anyone else from going through what we have the past 3 days. I bought the vehicle and my mom got the worst of it. She had 3 days of BS while working at her place of employment. Do you honestly think we would ever consider your place for another vehicle purchase? Also that this experience won't be shared? I initially enjoyed my experience at the dealership. My salesman was a nice guy and did a fairly good job. However, about a few months after buying my used vehicle from them I started noticing a burning smell coming from my car, and my engine oil was low. This concerned me because I was told by the manager that the car had received a recent oil change. If that statement were true my oil wouldn't have been black when I took it in to be serviced. It looked like the oil hadn't been changed in a long while. Hopefully there is no permanent damage to my engine. In all fairness I should have checked the oil myself. However, I will think twice about giving this dealership my business. Sucks for them because I buy lots of cars. read more
