My daughter was driving home from CMU when her car experienced engine failure. This was the closet facility to have the car towed to. It was a blown engine (rod, cylinder, bearing, who knows the cause at this point). Spoke with the owner Charles who was fantastic and filled with integrity. The mechanic Gareth replaced the engine and had the car back in a week (there were other issues as a result of shrapnel shooting out of the block). 600 miles on the 76k used engine and so far no issues. Mr. Hoover (Charles) also let me know, and I trust him, if there's an issue he will make it right. I did consult a couple of other mechanics and they said that the work was being done at a very reasonable price (one said it was cheaper than he could do, especially the price of the engine). Most people need to realize cars a crap shoot. Quality integrity and workmanship is a skill though. read more

I had my mom's car serviced here and despite some negative reviews and the owners respond to the reviews, I still decided to do business here. I always like to support local business but will never take a car here again. I was given different prices, the owner attempted to charge me multiple times for the same services, including towing. Even upon completion he stated I could have the car towed home. After well over $2,000 in repairs I refuse to have to tow a car that should be working properly when it leave the repair shop. I do not wish to go back and forward with the owner via social media but have all my receipts, including all estimates from the Hoover & Sons that I am more than happy to post if there is any denial by the owner. This post is to give potential customers all the information so they can make their own informed decision before doing business with Charles "Chuck". I have not lived in Michigan in over 10 years but my mom does and I was hoping to still be able to support local business for the care of her 1959 Ford Fairlane. Again, this is not to go back and forward with Chuck. I paid every dime you charged me and am not happy with your service that's all. You have questionable business ethics, poor customer relations and inflate your costs once you get the customer. After calling 10-12 different shops that refused to help or wanted money upfront before even finding the problem because my car was flooded out Mr Hoover got me covered! While also being the nicest people I've dealt with in the auto industry. Not only will I only be using this shop from here on I also highly recommend it! read more

I took my truck in 4 1/2 years ago for fuel line replacement. The fuel lines are now rotting out. The mechanic told me no way were the lines replaced 4 1/2 years ago. They just replaced your line filter, then changed you $800.00. Total rip. read more

My clutch went out, they kept my car just under 2 weeks and charged me $1480. Had the car home 5 days, driven 3 days and it's down again for the same issue. They towed it back to their shop, have had my car 2 full business days and have not yet even looked at my car. If I could give a lower score, I would. I took my truck in on 2-5-18 to have a wiper motor changed. I was told an hour or so. I ended up waiting for my truck 6 hours later. When I got home, the covers for the wipers were not put back on and they cracked my windshield. The next morning when confronted, the mechanic admitted my windshield was NOT broken. The mechanic seems to be decent. The owner is a jerk who wouldn't take responsibility. The owner stepped up to the plate and apologized then took care of all of the issues, including a new windshield. read more

Chuck Hoover is a THIEF!! He told me my car needed a new engine. He charged me over $500.00 to tell me this. I declined the repairs and had my vehicle towed to a different garage. They told me all I needed was an A/C compressor. The compressor seized up and the starter would not turn the motor over. They charged me for a starter I didn't need and MISDIAGNOSED the car completely. Tried to rip me off over three thousand dollars for a new motor. The other shop fixed my car for $347.00.
