The selection of books at this branch is very broad and if you are looking for something that isn't at this particular branch the helpful staff is willing to have the book sent over from another branch. Other than books there are several different things to do at the library. You can rent movies or tv series on DVD. There are computers avaliable for use as well as study rooms for students. Kids classes are avaliable at different times of the month and there is always a calendar to take home to keep track. Many activities for adults as well. The possibilities are endless!

Visiting The Civic Center for a Women's Empowerment Seminar; I was surprised at the grandness of this venue. I'm not sure if this place is newly renovated, but for me, I was quite elated to see this spectacular sight. This is just another testament to the growth of this area. Beaucoup parking... Spacious indoors... Indoor suites vary in size... Modern restroom facilities... No indoor lingering food or nasty carpet smells... Oh and speaking of the carpet; it seems freshly laid... Friendly management staff... I'd love to return for a larger venue & see what they have in store for me.

This is a review of the Lafitte Barataria Museum because the listing for the museum lists it as…read moreclosed, and it isn't. Anyway, I stopped in here just to see what this attraction was all about. Entry is $6 for adults and you get to watch a 30 minute film about the history of Lafitte and take a walk through the museum. There's also a nature trail behind the museum that you can check out. The film was great and actually very up to date and educational. I enjoyed it. If you watch the film, you have to wait until the end for the appearance of a special guest. It's worth the $6 admission- trust me. The museum itself is pretty neat and teaches a bit about the lifestyle and people of Barataria. The nature trail is wonderful and, if I hadn't been here on an unseasonably warm October day, I would have walked the full trail, rather than just a portion of it. Still, I enjoyed it and it was a relaxing stroll.

I emailed asking to schedule a tour and the guide got back to me within an hour or two and we got it scheduled for the next day. Reasonable price, this was more like a conversation about the house and family and how things have changed and evolved. This is unlike most of the other house tours I have done. This seems like they have a pretty nice Fire Station here. That is a good thing. You never know when you might need them. Great place to take your children and grandchildren for a tour/visit. It's always nice to drop off cookies and brownies to the Firemen and women. They are always happy to receive sweet treats.

If so, you may have crossed this bridge. I am a little ashamed that this bridge even has a Yelp listing. It is one of the wimpier bridges on the westbank. I am one of the lucky souls who has never crossed this bridge and been caught by the drawbridge. That's right, it has a drawbridge. It also has an area for pedestrians to walk. There is honestly not much more I can say about this bridge.

I get caught in the up position usually every day, sometimes twice, only because of the nature of my job. I am back and forth all day long. There is some new radar speed indicator signs on the bridge with some fakes ass looking cameras. Those are not speed trap cameras. I know, I have crossed that bridge well above the posted speed limit and never had a problem. :-) I personally know the bridge operator, went to high school with her, hopefully I'll take some cool pics of inside the control house one day :-) I cannot imagine what it was like before they built this bridge in the 70s. Must of sucked serious booty. Im glad its here!! Also, roll up your windows and turn off your AC when passing through in mornings and evenings....stanks really bad. I think its the mud or pipelines.
