Eric and Makaela have gone above and beyond dealing with my insurance company and getting my meds. approved. Meanwhile I had to keep calling CVS, was getting mixed information from different employees, would drive all the way across town bc a pharmacist told me it was ready when it wasn't, waited 4 extra days because they "forgot" to call me and tell me that they didn't even have my medication and that they would have to order it. I drove back and forth across town 4 times to CVS because the pharmacy techs and pharmacists weren't communicating with each other or with me. Trust me it's worth the drive to not have to deal with all that stress every time and it's nice to go to a pharmacy where the employees care.

Medications that I had been paying $200+ dollars/month for, due to my insurance not covering the medication, were suddenly available to me for $15/month because the staff at Lagniappe took the time to research my medications and found drug coupons. They did this completely unsolicited...just because they care about customer satisfaction! My prescriptions are ready on time and I get a text notifying me when it is time to pick them up. They gave me very detailed instructions and displacing supplies to help mix and give. I was treated like an individual with meds and not a number. Beginning in December 2025, I was repeatedly told by Ponchatoula Family Pharmacy that no authorization had been received and that my physician had not responded. Based on that information, I contacted my doctor multiple times over several months, only to be reassured that the authorization was already approved and active. Despite this, the pharmacy continued to deny the medication. After months of back-and-forth, I requested that the claim be fully reviewed and reprocessed rather than relying on the initial rejection message. It was then discovered that the prior authorization had been active the entire time. Once properly re-run, it was approved immediately. This was not a physician delay. It was a failure to verify and process an existing authorization. As a former pharmacy technician, I understand that automated rejections require verification with the insurer and appropriate escalation when needed. Those steps were not taken until I pushed for them. As a result, I went months without my prescribed preventive migraine therapy and experienced debilitating migraines while caring for my special-needs child. Preventive migraine treatment directly impacts daily functioning and neurological stability. I ultimately transferred my prescriptions and chose not to continue patronizing this pharmacy. Medication access requires diligence and accurate communication, and this experience did not reflect either. I hope this prompts improved verification procedures so other patients do not experience similar interruptions in care.

My husband went without his much needed medication for 2 weeks as a result! I found him to be condescending and untruthfull in our conversation. When asked for the owners info (which he originally claimed he was) I was told he lived in Canada. I have dates and times provided by the insurance compancy which totally contradict his explanations and whoever is responsible for this travisty should be held accountable. I will find the owners information and enlighten them of what is happening at there place of business (at least on this occasion).

Most of the time, my scripts were called in by the doctor, so by the time I had gotten home, they were done and ready to be picked up! They have small parking lot, but if you really needed something there, you'll find a way to get your goods. The street was not super busy. In fact, it's located pretty deep into a small street that leads right to the Mississippi River levy. The store sold little trinkets and even some hygiene needs.
