I recently found out about this place from a friend's Instagram story when they went. So I made…read moresure to plan a hike here for when I had time. I was able to come here in the middle of the week around noon. The GPS made this place easy to find. There is plenty of parking here at pena adobe park and lagoon valley park. The hike is located at lagoon valley park, so don't mix those up. You do have to pay $5 for parking, and the machine kiosk was broken when I went, but you can still pay through the park mobile app, which is what I did. The hike is listed as moderate, but felt borderline difficult to me (maybe I'm just out of shape). There is a lot of up hill when you first start, and because there wasn't a lot of shade combined with me going on the hottest day of the week (low 80 degrees), it did make it feel more difficult. After I parked, I was a bit confused on where to go so had to ask someone finishing up their hike for the direction. I was instructed to go up the main trail past the gate for the main trail to the lighthouse at the top. There are lots of trails here, but the one to the top of the hill is the most popular, and probably the most difficult). Once you park in the lot by the lake/pond, you cross the road to the grassy side and follow that trail to the gate that keeps the cows inside. There is another easier hike/walk your can take around the lake/pond, which is mostly flat. The views on this hike are great. Despite it being a little warmer, the breeze helped a lot. I liked the views and made it to the top after about 1 and a half hours. In total, it took me about 2 hours to finish the hike. And that's with a 20 minute break halfway going uphill. Going downhill is a lot faster. I'll be back for one of the other trails and how to bring family and friends to join.

This place is great right now late January. I think it's probably hot as heck in the summer. My…read morekids and I went for a walk around the lagoon, it took us about 50 minutes. Nice walk on a dry day. Would be super muddy in the rain. Seems like a place that's only good during a particular weather/season. Parking is $5+. Lots of picnic tables, some bathrooms and a playground available. We'll probably be back if we find ourselves in the area.

Meh, I've definitely played better but arguably this could have been the worst. As far as the hike…read moreaspect of it it's great - challenging, great views. This is NOT a beginner course! Almost every hole is a blind throw from the tee (which to some extent is expected but this was a special level of nonsense), poorly marked holes and none existent support to next tees. I felt the overall course was poorly maintained. The only assistance I noticed were white poles that seemed to be markers that you are on the right path like a cairn. This could be confusing depending on holes that overlapped each other on course though. The terrain is wild long grass with poison oak scattered everywhere. There are potholes all over the course with very little well trodden paths to follow around. To some extent the wild portion of the terrain is what it is, so of course this is just FYI cause I don't expect rangers to be maintaining the whole hillside/mountain area. I didn't expect it to be easy; but as a newbie it was more than challenging and a bummer. Even my mister who's a great player found the course disappointing overall. For this area it is not where I'd recommend someone go.

Easy access, well maintained trails and paved pathways for all levels of athleticism. Bathrooms are clean and located at two points on the loop. Fun for the whole family and pets. Pretty nice and relaxing stroll/jog with a water feature if one doesn't want anything too strenuous…read morewith incline. It is basically several trails that go around a reservoir (Spring Lake). The circumference of the lake is about a 2 mile flat loop. Upon entering the park felt very bizarre. You leave a nice neighborhood with nice homes then in a blink of an eye, you are surrounded by bare trees covered in moss surrounded by tons of small flat boulders. It was so bare and quiet that it felt like this portion of the earth had died. Very bizarre. You'll eventually find the parking lots which all connect together in some form. There's an $8 fee here. You can't see the lake from much of the parking lot, maybe in a few spots like where a boat ramp might be. I had to use a map in my hiking app to find which direction the lake was at. Once at the lake there are pretty much 2 trails that go around the same lake. 1 is at lake level and is a dirt trail. So it has a more hiking feel as the trail is rough with lots of heavy brush on the sides. Even tho lake level you'll only get a glimpse of the lake in only a few spots. That's because the brush is so thick and over grown that it'll block views to the water since you are at lake level. The second trail is a paved trail that is above lake level, so from most spots you are looking down on the lake. This is the trail to take if you want to take pics or just admire the water views. Also the trail to take if you want to bike or jog as it is a wider and smoother trail than the dirt one at lake level. I saw a separate swimming lagoon on one of the corners. It wasn't in operation in October when I went but looks like it could be a popular spot during the warm summer Santa Rosa months. This area of the lake is also the most landscaped as I saw lawn areas with picnic benches and nicer trees alongside the lake, even some very pretty small redwoods. I enjoyed my views most on this side of the lake. You can also add length to your route by connecting this loop with other trails. There's even a loop that connects this loop that goes to another smaller lake, which would make your route now closer to 4 miles. Nice spot may even have to bring a group here someday for a picnic day if ever back in the area.

Found this course while visiting SF. Had no clue it was there and I have visited SF many times…read more Easy course to follow on the front 9. Download U-Disc for a full layout. There are several different pin variations that are called out on the teepads at each hole. The back 9 are a bit trickier to locate so use U-Disc for assistance. Front 9 are fairly simple shots with lots of trees to get you cursing. The back 9 are a bit longer and more open. If you're a skipper, you won't do much here. In between the front and back 9 there is a location where discs are hungup for lost and found. Enjoy the views and watch out for walkers as they can walk right into your drive. This is a (somewhat) hidden gem within Golden Gate Park! It is a full, 18-hole disc golf course…read more Some people call it frisbee golf, however don't show up with a regular frisbee if you don't want to look like a noob. If you are a noob, that's ok. Just be respectful, and know there's a specific etiquette expected while playing. Similar to golf, you tee off with your disc, then keep shooting until you putt into the pin (basket). Grab some discs online or at a local shop before heading out! The course is perfectly nestled inside the park, near Marx Meadow and across from Lindley Meadow. There is a starting point with a hole #1, make sure you don't hop on somewhere in the middle. The course is maintained by the Club, and they do a great job of keeping it up and even adjusting the pins. Each hole has 3-4 potential pin locations, and the current one is marked on the little sign near the tee pad. Some of the pins are hard to see from the tee box, so it's helpful to be familiar with where you're shooting before you lose sight of your disc. It's super easy to lose a disc in the bushes or trees if it goes off path, so make sure you always keep an eye on your disc. Bright colors are always helpful when spotting lost discs. This course holds weekly and annual tournaments. The weekly doubles are on Tuesday, and singles on Sunday morning. People bring adult beverages and partake in the smoking of both cigarettes and cannabis. They recently removed trash receptacles at the holes, so whatever you pack in, plan to pack out. This goes back to being respectful of the course and land, don't litter or destroy anything. The lines can get pretty long if it's a weekend and the weather is nice, so anticipate a wait. If you go early or during non-peak hours, you can make it through the full 18 pretty quickly!
