NorCal has been getting pounded with rain for a week straight. I decided to skip the gym and go outside. Andrews Park is on a hill, so, you have the chance to walk at an incline to get your heart up. Which I love! There's a playground, public bathrooms (enter at your own risk), a flowing creek, benches, and a map of the "fitness trail" to follow around the park for exercise.

My daughter and I have been on a quest to visit new parks lately. We had no idea there were so many…read moreso close to us too! This one ended up being a nice surprise. I initially thought it would be rather small with not much to do, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Like most parks, this one is divided into a section for kids 5 and under and another for the big kids. I was happy to see that this playground has some cool features on top of the things I look for as a parent. The play area was very clean and the grass had just been cut that morning. Lots of room to run around here. There's a tennis court and 2 half basketball courts to the right of the play area too. I like that there's a drinking fountain, even if it's not in the best location (tucked against the tennis court entrance) and that there are plenty of seating options. Unfortunately, none of the benches or tables have any permanent awning over them, but a few will be shaded by trees at the right time of day. My daughter loved playing with the scoop toy and racing me down the blue slides. This playground must get packed after school and during the summer. We'll definitely be back by then to have even more fun!

A basketball court, two playground areas (a smaller toddler one and a "big kid" one), a running path (concrete, 2 laps = 1 mile) with workout stations along the way, and a HUGE grassy area. There are a few picnic tables situated in the park, no more than one close together though. The residents in the area do a wonderful job taking care of the park, not littering and picking up after their furry kids when they take them on outings to this park. Of course after school and on the weekends it can get packed full of kids having fun! A great place to come and run around or relax in the shade of the trees!

A downside here though is that the edges of the grass are often mushy from poor drainage and occasionally some shoes will get muddy. There's often older kids playing basketball here and sometimes they use colorful language. Now, I just drive by if I see them out playing. If you live nearby (and I mean, very nearby) then perhaps this park is worth checking out. Lots of room for kids to run and a trail that leads along the back of the neighborhood if you walk all the way to the far end. Near the playground there's a few picnic tables that are partially covered by slats above. A water fountain is next to the picnic area as well. Drink up! It's the only one around if you decide to go for a walk. Like I said, unless you live nearby, this park isn't worth a special trip.
