Unpredictable. Better in summer season as there are enough trolleys running. Off season is pathetic. GPS sucks, not always working, Trolleys cancel route without notice. Long lunch breaks leaving riders wondering when the route will start up again. Third app city is using (Moovit) has no GPS for Laguna Trolley but wants to pay for that feature anyway. The drivers have all been really nice & patient with riders. However some drive like Hogwarts London Express. But don't we all need a spine realignment sometimes? read more

Such a cute and convenient trolley service. My boyfriend and I were exploring Laguna Beach when we saw the Laguna Beach Trolley stops as we walked around. We had parked a distance away and walked towards the downtown area to wander. When I saw the trolley service parked, I had the idea to hop on and enjoy the ocean side views. Soooo romanticccc, right? Perhaps, if the sun wasn't in my eye when I faced the ocean during that time of day, but still fun. They Laguna Beach Trolley is FREE and you can expect a pick up at each stop once every 20-30 minutes. I really like that they have QR codes you can scan to track where the trolleys are real time so you can see when the next one will come by. If you're a local or frequent visitor of the area, there's also an app you can download to track the trolley. If you're planning a trip you can check their website prior to see if they're operating because they have different summer hours, off-season hours, and holiday schedules you might want to be aware of. The trolley service was especially helpful for my boyfriend and I to get to the Victoria Beach stop, since there was scarce parking around that area. When you are ready to disembark, pull the string along the top edge of the trolley to signal the driver. Overall a fun whimsical experience that was FREE! What's not to like :) read more

This is a fantastic service providing a shuttle to get around town to the art shows and the neighboring community. We parked at the lot for a minimal fee of $5. We took the shuttle initially to the festivals. We took it back to the parking lot to put our purchases in the car. We then took it into town for dinner and caught it back to the lot later at night after dinner. We never had to wait mire than five minutes if that. On the way to dinner there was a group heading to the Pageant. One of the passengers was disabled and needed the lift access. It appeared the driver wasn't too comfortable and he asked the passenger to please wait a moment while he checked something. He called someone and got assistance and handled the situation perfectly and professionally. The joy on the face of the passenger was heartwarming! Upon coming back from dinner we were walking to the trolley stop on a dark empty side street when we saw the trolley passing us. We yelled at him to please wait for us. It was about a block ahead. It was amazing that the driver heard us and pulled over and waited for us with a smile on his face. He indicated it was good that we got his attention as he would not have known we needed a ride. He was happy to take us. I am sorry I didn't get the names of these drivers who provided such outstanding service but thank you to the Laguna Beach Trolley for the outstanding service you provide and the excellent staff who represent you so well! read more

Took the free trolley from Irvine to Laguna Beach. The shuttle departs on the hour and the half hour, with plenty of free parking in the office park lot. The driver was very friendly and the ride through canyon was quite smooth. It was much better than driving to Laguna Beach and having to deal with parking! There are a few different trolley routes, so do check the route/destination. A couple on our trolley back to Irvine neglected to do so until the it was already heading on its way. Upon hearing it was going to Irvine, the woman told her husband, "You can stay on if you want, but I'm getting off." I'm still laughing at the thought of them winding up in Irvine, wondering what happened. It was so easy and convenient, that I think I'll be visiting Laguna Beach more frequently! read more

Want to know where to park to take Coastal trolley. Website not helpful, phoned the office and the info the person had was very disorganized. They couldn't tell me where to park coming from Lake Forest to catch the Coastal trolley. They want everyone to ride the trolley but don't tell you where to leave the damn car to catch it. Found out taking the trolley back to our car that IT DOESN'T STOP AT EVERY STOP. You have to let the driver know either when you board or from your seat that you want to stop at a particular stop. After stopping at the first few stops, we assumed the trolley would stop at every stop. Wrong! When it got to the next stop (ours) it went sailing on by! Then it sailed by the next stop and the next! We finally managed to communicate to the driver that we needed to get off and then we had to stand in the sun for 20-30 minutes waiting for a trolley to take us back in the other direction! We were not happy. Dear Laguna Trolley, please make it clear to passengers that you don't stop at every stop or simply stop at every stop. Thank you. The free trolley was a nice surprise. A trolley arrives every 20 minutes. They dont seem to stop unless someone is standing by the trolley stop sign or someone on the trolley indicates wanting to get off at a particular stop. They weren't busy when i was there. I generally told the driver where i was heading and they were very helpful. Some passengers were wearing masks and some werent . The drivers did seem to wear masks. Definitely download the app. Really appreciate having the free transportation... allowed me to see a lot more and not have to use yelp. I was without a car since my husband had to take the rental to LA for work. Trolley is another reason staying in the area was fantastic. read more

This may be the only way I'll ever get around Laguna! It's one of my favorite cities but the parking is so horrible that I never go. I decided to give this trolley a try and it was perfect!!! I live in Irvine so this was the perfect pick up place. Nice to have someone drive for me, and then literally drive me around all the best spots of the city. The Laguna Beach Trolley runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It runs 4pm to 11 pm on Friday, 11 am to 11 pm on Saturday and 11 am to 8 pm on Sunday. It's free of charge and very convenient. The stops are marked and easy to locate. The trolley is not air conditioned and the seats are all wooden. It is recommended that you download the Visit Laguna Beach App and track the trolley in real time. I cannot believe I've lived here forever and never rode the trolley! SO MUCH FUN!! The parking itself is $10 for all day but the trolley shuttle is free! It travels as far as the Ritz Carlton and Montage (I'm trying to imagine pulling up to the Ritz in a trolley ). It's open (no windows) and therefore you get quite the breeze when it's moving - hold your hat! I would certainly expect you'd want a sweater if riding in the evening. It runs until 11pm and there is a 20 minute wait in between each Trolley. The drivers are cool and friendly in their Hawaiian shirts. Next time you visit Laguna, don't hassle with parking and take the trolley. The kids absolutely love it! read more

When in Laguna, use the free trolley to get around. We start to use it from the parking lot on. On our visits here, we used the trolley to explore the coast Northbound or South. Cute trolleys! Get a map, talk to the drivers, make sure you go in the right direction: Sawdust festival, Pageant of the Masters, Downtown. In downtown you can change and go on the coast North (toward the Art Museum) or South (has lots of stops, toward Dana Point). we never had to wait forever for one to show up. Yes, some drivers are nicer than others, yes, you need to get that map, do your homework, they might not stop where you need. But the stops are close to each other, you can walk. Mix of tourists, beach goers on board. Sometimes a good crowd, sometimes not so. There's some wind, since some have opened parts to them, so your nice hairdo might suffer! But, the trolley saves you a lot of hassle. So, sit back and enjoy the views. Hop on and off. Take advantage of it during the summer! read more

My husband and I spent a weekend in Laguna Beach and took advantage of the free trolley to go to dinner our first night in town. We were staying at The Ranch at Laguna Beach, and we had a Lyft driver cancel on us after making us wait several minutes; we were pissed about it until the valet guys at our hotel mentioned we could catch the trolley instead. The jerk driver saved us money. The Ranch is one of the many stops made by this free trolley, and we were able to flag it down and ride downtown. It was a cute trolley, quaint and cheerful, with plenty of seats. About half of the other riders seemed to be local high school students, who must love having this way to get around. Our driver was super nice. We weren't sure where we were supposed to get off, and when we told him where we were going, he made an unscheduled stop right across the street from our restaurant. Unfortunately, this was the only time we were able to catch the trolley. We tried downloading the app, but that didn't work, and it was pretty hard to figure out the schedule. We waited for it once more, and it didn't come when it was supposed to, or for several minutes after that. I suspect there's an easy enough way to determine the trolley schedule, and that if we'd spent more time here we would've gotten the hang of it. It must be a great resource for locals, and I'm glad we got a taste on our first short visit to Laguna. read more

It's so much fun rolling along PCH with the ocean breeze in your face admiring the gorgeous scenery. When you want to get off be sure to yell at the driver. You might miss your stop. One time an empty trolley pulled up to the stop. The driver apologized that he couldn't take any passengers. The trolley was having mechanical difficulties. "OK, thanks for telling us!" I am currently stranded after attending a Memorial Service at the Festival of the Arts. I was informed to Park in a parking lot (formerly known as Act 5) down the canyon and to take the trolley to the festival grounds. I was also informed that the last pickup would be 3 pm. No one showed up and when I reached out, to dispatch, Oscar just said sorry, we decided to stop the shuttle service early because no one used it (apparently except for myself). What a great benefit we all have living down here in South OC to be able to ride the Free Long or Short Laguna Beach Trolley system . My sister and I live locally but decided let's have a fun play day and we didn't use the other great Dana Point free trolley that connects to this one so we picked this one up at the Ritz location headed South for a fun filled Sat adventure . We met some fun people all of us decided to hang out and go to several locations along the beach for apps and a drink here and there . We were lucky to stop at the Deck - down town - back at the beach and Avila's Mexican rest on the way back . Now if you head home North on a weekend - plan on waiting a bit to hop on a trolley as it gets packed around 5 PM for one heading all the way to the Ritz . It was a fun filled free day and I recommend it for locals and those who want to bring out of town guest . The great drivers will assist with ice chest or surf boards etc . When you have a 3yr old that enjoys train rides, they will also enjoy trolley rides. There are 3 routes. We like the NorthBound Route. Its not that long of a ride and the view is nice. We park off Clifff and Jasmin because there is a nice shaded area and the restrooms are close by. We have taken the SouthBound Route before... it took forever.... not as exciting as NorthBound... The Canyon Route is just going to the parking lots... If you have the opportunity to have Mark as your driver, you might get lucky and have him sing for you. He is our favorite driver!!! Since my last review, our trolley system has initiated additional routes, servicing LB neighborhoods; their BEST idea yet! It is the difference, for us and I assume other LB residents, between enjoying our town or leaving town to eat out/shop, etc. What's more, the service and timing of our neighborhood trolley has been totally reliable. The driver asked us if we were all getting out by the Festival of the Arts, so we didn't need to pull the cord for the stop. The wait is a little bit longer at dark. This is a good alternative to parking across the street from the Pageant of the Masters for $10. There are brochures inside that trace the trolley routes and drivers are patient with people asking questions about directions. We used this because we were waiting at the corner to cross and the trolley driver asked us where we wanted to go. read more

My boyfriend and I rode the entire route up one way and back the other. What a lovely view and great experiences. It made it so convenient for us to just hop off from beach to beach and get a ride back to our car without having to worry about driving in that unimaginable traffic that gives me such anxiety. I loved being able to just relax and people watch with my boyfriend. Writing this review as I sit at The Ritz waiting on the trolly. The trolly is a WONDERFUL free service and we have used it every summer for years. We've steadily watched it get worse and worse over the years but this summer has been awful. We've only found 1 that was actually open air and the rest kept the window panel in this made the heat and stench stifling. I don't understand why they can't pop out the window panels on ALL the trolleys. They seem to have a lot fewer trolleys this summer bc wait times are insane. We have been waiting at Ritz for 43 min now. Then we see the trolleys stacked when we ride. Learn to space them out. Dana Point has a great system with their free trolly so it can't be that hard. Yes it's free but very unorganized. read more

Super convenient (and free!) service - I was relieved when I found out I could park further up Laguna Canyon road in a lot there, pay a few bucks, then take the trolley into town. Almost every driver and trolley employee were fantastic, but there did seem to be a bit of disorganization re: spacing the trolleys out. I understand some of this has to do with the traffic, but when at one stop several pretty much empty trolleys stop by, whereas at another you're waiting almost 30 minutes to try to squeeze onto another, it can be frustrating. I didn't realize at first that the drivers don't necessarily stop at all the stops listed - there's no stop request pull/button anywhere so you apparently need to yell "next stop!" up at the driver. Kind of hard to do if you're not a local and aren't sure exactly where you are (I tried using the online trolley tracker, but it wasn't very accurate). But overall, I was pleased with the service and happy to not have to deal with the hassle of parking! read more

What an amazing service offered to OC locals and tourists alike! I try to use the trolley as much as possible during the summers to hop from beach to beach and see all that Laguna has to offer. The highlights I've experienced to date are Thousand Steps Beach, Victoria Beach, and Woods Cove. both good and negative experiences We took the free trolley from our hotel on N. Coast Hwy to the Festival of the Arts/Pageant of the Masters and return to the hotel afterward. It was pleasant and convenient. The next day we took the trolley to the Sawdust Festival, (you have to walk from the "Depot" stop). Also fine. But getting back was too difficult. At the Depot a driver gave us directions to walk to the stop for the trolley going north on N. Coast Hwy. We walked 3-4 blocks, asked people, but couldn't find it. We had to walk several more blocks north on N. Coast Hwy, uphill to find a stop. One of our group of four seniors has difficulty walking. They need to make it clear and much easier!! read more

We booked the Trolley for our post wedding ceremony picture tour of Laguna. This was such a fun way to transport the wedding party to our photo shoot location! We also had a second trolley take our out of town guests around Laguna for some sight seeing. Trolley Captain Phil was great to work with he suggested the routes for the trolley. I live right across from the main depot. How many years has the city been running the trolleys? It is ridiculous that they can't pull it together. They never are organized. The drivers don't know the routes. They sent this family with 2 babies down the canyon to go south and they had to walk back to the hotel laguna. They waited over an hour. The worst thing is the doors open and everyone rushes in. They need to have a line or a painted line on the cement. The trolleys are always jammed in one location and the drivers lack common sense. 3 trolleys jammed in one spot and just sitting there. I live in Laguna beach and this year is the worst to ride the trolley. To get picked up at Laguna hotel it's a 30 Minute wait sometimes and packed with loud seemingly drunk 15 year olds who are screaming and have no chaperones. We'd rather drive our car and chance any problems with drinking a beer and driving (not really) but don't want to ride the trolley. It's not fun anymore. They need more trolleys. We waited at the stop at Hotel Laguna forever only to watch 3 trolleys stop across the street for pick ups heading North while we waited 30 minutes for one trolley to take us southbound. We are not people who complain or hardly ever write a review on Yelp but this has got to change. And this is not a one time deal this has happened almost every time we made the mistake of taking the free Laguna Beach Trolley. We even called Uber to get us out of there and rescue us off of a cold bench a couple of times. Please remedy if possible Laguna Beach. read more
