DO NOT RENT FROM MISS KITTY!!!! after spending 4 nights over Fourth of July weekend, I feel like people deserve to know what they're walking into. They have trash cans by the stair case that smells terrible with roaches and flies and we have to pass it every time we go into our room. We booked this condo expecting a relaxing beach vacation. Instead, it felt like every day came with a new surprise--and not the good kind. Let's start with the condition of the unit. The walls were literally falling apart, and the bathroom had water leaking through the shower wall from the unit above us. When we reported it, we were told they couldn't do anything because the unit upstairs wasn't managed by them. While I understand that may be true, it doesn't change the fact that we paid for a room with water leaking into the bathroom. The bathroom light also had a mind of its own. Every time you flipped the switch, it took a couple of minutes to turn on, like it was still asleep and needed its morning coffee before deciding to work. The TV wasn't much better. The remote wouldn't change the channels, so if we wanted to watch something, we had to get up every single time and manually change the channel on the cable box. After putting up with all of these issues, we were finally told we could move to another unit--but only on the last night of our 4-night stay. Even then, the replacement unit wasn't ready until around 5:00 p.m., so we spent most of the day waiting. Then we had to pack up every single one of our belongings and move everything ourselves... just to sleep there for one night before checking out the next morning. To make things even worse, the replacement unit didn't even have the pull-out couch that our original unit had. It was just a regular couch, even though we booked a unit that was supposed to accommodate six people. We also spent most of our vacation using only one bathroom, despite paying for a two-bathroom unit. After all of that, no refund, no partial refund, no discount, and no real compensation was offered. Upon my arrival at Laguna Reef for 2 night stay. I was excited to see the view and to sit on the patio for a bit, until I immediately noticed it was very dirty and rusty. Definitely false advertisement from Vrbo and staff. They were very quick to charge my card (Red Flag) I was upset I could not enjoy the beautiful view. Room number is at the end of this review. Chairs are full of rust (nothing like the pictures from Vrbo and staff at Laguna Reef) patio table was very dirty and rusty. The frame from sliding door was also rusty and kind of hard to pull, very dirty. The furniture from the living room are in poor poor condition. Coffee table was wobbly..it felt like it was going to fall apart. The Tv is mounted crooked (necks were hurting) the small table on the wall is also slanted not straight. Drinks were uneven..had to be very careful to not spill anything. The couch is filthy underneath, full of dust and dirt, rug is also dirty. Not good for anyone with allergies. Linen smelled like they have been dirty for a while. I had to buy a blanket and meds for allergies. Not very friendly from staff or locals. My husband and I took a walk on the pier (no rails) very dangerous for little ones. A person from the office walked all the way down to the pier to make sure we were guests. He asked if we were guests and for our room number. Hopefully it wasn't because of our skin color. I definitely will NOT go back. It's too bad, because the bay view is beautiful, but I despise false advertisement. I will not use VRBO or Laguna Reef ever AGAIN. Room#208 read more

There's an old adage that states, "You can never go home again." It seems to apply to vacation destinations, too. Laguna Reef used to be our summer "go-to" in Rockport. It was considered a nice motel at a reasonable price for an included pool/spa and pier. Years ago the motel units were sold as condos, ostensibly to bring in more money to keep the place in good condition. It is unfortunate for condo owners because the now run-down property has definitely not aged well and the warm hospitality has disappeared. The potholed parking lot and dilapidated elevator make poor first impressions. The pool area doesn't open until 10AM (parents be warned your early risers will have to wait!) and has a list of other rules as long as your arm. There are rules for pets, elevator doors, trash disposal, street clothes, etc. On top of that, there is an overall shabbiness and lack of attention to cleanliness and maintenance that speaks volumes. Rusty window AC units, dead plants in planters, peeling paint and failing double-paned windows are in abundance. Trash bags were left by a door on our floor for 5 days and numerous signs inform guests how to dispose of waste. I actually saw housekeepers roll their carts past them and not do anything. Laguna Reef was once a prime destination in the area, but don't expect much here anymore. It's now a mediocre beach hotel with lots of rules, unsatisfactory groundskeepers and less than quality accommodations. read more

Near downtown Rockport which is convenient. The shower was tiny, they forgot to leave sheets for the pull out sofa the first night so we had to make due bc the office closed at 8. The back sliding door lock didn't work and the aluminum security bar didn't actually hold so we had to wedge the coffee table in a way that would secure the sliding door. Although it was the back door, we shared a patio with the neighbors that was separated by a 3 foot tall iron rod gate. I worried about our kids safety every night. The condos are smaller than the pictures make it out to be. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to easily cook for a family of four and a family of three who joined us one night for dinner. Overall, it was just ok. read more

Nice place and enjoy my stays here BUT I think this place has a big problem with the locals coming and enjoying the amenities that we pay for. They seem to not use the guest ID bracelets anymore. I see people come park and unload all their crap and move into the pool area the pier and BBQ pits. Other than that, this place could be a great place to visit. read more

A nice enough plClean. Nice view until the new house being built is finished. But the Wi-Fi is terrible and the main TV was impossible. We had the front desk lady come up and show us and she said operating the TVs is messed up in all the units. She has to bail people out all the time with their TVs she said. read more

I am in a wheelchair and need to have wheelchair accessible accommodations. I made reservations 9 months in advance and paid the down payment, followed up by the final payment on time. A couple months before our reservation, I received a call stating they had double booked our condo, and asked if I minded if I were moved. I explained that I needed the handicap accommodations that the condo I reserved and signed a contract for had, and I could not move for those reasons. I was assured that I would be in the condo that I had contracted and there would be no problem. Then two days before we arrived, (we were already in Texas) I received check in instructions and they were for the wrong condo. When we arrived, the people at the desk tried their best to find a condo that would work for me, but they didn't have anything that would work. They were very friendly and tried, but no luck. We ended up leaving as it was evening by now and I said I would call the next day. When I called, they offered to make some changes to another condo, but I already had checked into another place as my views of Laguna Reef were soured and I had lost two days of my vacation time due to their mix up. Because of the change, it will cost me considerably extra for this vacation. I contacted the Manager and asked if they would help reimburse me for any of our extra costs and they would not. Be careful if you have any special needs when booking, you may not get what you had signed up for. read more

I don't know why anyone has written a good review on this place I love it. The ladies in office are sweet, the pier is great and the pool is always clean. First time, I stayed was in a standard hotel room. Second was in the condos and it was great! The bed was so comfortable and clean. read more

It's an older place, worn, but serviceable. The manager literally makes folks wait until exactly 4:00 o'clock to check in. "Sit on the couch for 20 minutes, then I can check you in." Felt like kindergarten. Rest of the staff is pleasant. The balconies are NOT private, regardless of the advertising wording. Probably great for folks who want to party with everyone on their floor. Bring ear plugs or lots of alchohol to be able to sleep. Great pier for fishing. read more

The hotel rooms are actually different from the condos. Same name different owners. Condos are great. The one we stayed in was recently remodeled. New tile threw out. Granite counters. Great view. I'm a snob when it comes to places to stay, the only reason we came here was because of a family reunion for Mother's Day so I was very surprised. Staff was great. Rock port was a much nicer area then I remembered from the 90's. We will be back. read more

Our family has been staying here for the past 20 years. My brother and I normally so excited about our visit, we literally IM about it all week. So we me reservations and head down to the coast last weekend. To start off the visit, upon arrival we were informed the hot tub didn't work. I asked why they didn't tell me that when I made reservations the week before and got no answer. We stayed in their large 2 bedroom suite for $380 a night, plus $10 per pet per night (which is really the reason we go here). To our surprise, one of the bathrooms doesn't have hot water. The maintenance team comes by a few times and says the hot water heater was just turned down (why that is I don't know) and it still didn't fix the problem. I ask the front desk to comp some of our stay upon checkout and they simply state the manager will call me when she is in. I wait all week for a phone and finally get a call back. They offered us a $50 gift card. 6 people paid $900 for a room with one bathroom and they offered us $50!! We cancelled our reservations for June. I guess the 20 streak is over... read more

Love the hospitality at this place, felt like a second home. Everyone was friendly and so were the guest. We were a walk-in family and wanted something nice with a great view. We took the kids out before they went back to school and they loved it as well. We stayed in room 409, which is a Condo, had a perfect view of the water, and close to the elevator. We had a small dog, Chihuahua, but weren't aware that some rooms were pet friendly, and others were not due to allergy concerns so be sure to mention that (even though I feel that is something should be asked when you are checking in by the hotel). read more

We stayed at Laguna Reef in Rockport during October for a girls weekend get-away. We had a group of 7 ladies together and we stayed in rooms 210 and 211. The rooms have a shared door, so most of the time we left the door open and were able to enjoy being together but we didn't feel like we were cramped. The rooms are spacious and clean and look like they have been recently updated. Room 210 has a nice balcony seating arrangement with a patio sofa, chairs and table which made it nice for us to enjoy our meals outside while we enjoyed the fabulous water view. The balcony overlooks the pool and has a great view of the water and hotel/condo private pier. I definitely enjoyed my stay here at Laguna Reef in condos 210 and 211 and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. read more

Had a wonderful time watching the sunrises from the deck in beautiful condo #305. The condo had a great ambiance, with lovely furnishings and amenities. In January, the mornings were brisk when taking mornings walks along the shoreline and watching wildlife. The air was fresh and the sounds peaceful, being located on the bay. Also, our friends also had a wonderful time and enjoyed their stay in condo 411. read more
