I ordered Birria Tacos from this place, the taco shells were soft and soggy. Fell apart before even dipping. The consume looked and taste like tomato sauce out of the can. Usually the onions and cilantro are on the tacos already. I had to put them in myself, resulting in broken tacos because the cheese in the taco had already melted so it was stuck together. I ended up throwing one taco away because it was too much to even work with. The beans were nasty and the rice was hard. I informed the host of how disoriented this meal was. Not high, but not the lowest for this level of food. Food is okay. Not great. Not bad. Free chips and salsa. Salsa has a nice kick to it but the chips are thick and oily. The shrimp fajita salad was "meh" - good size portion, but very oily and the shell was quite limp and shrimp very soggy though well flavored. I love this place. One of the few Mexican restaurants that use different sauce for their enchiladas and burritos. The staff is always aiming to please. The waiter didn't hear me when I said all beef and brought me chicken . He Had me another hot plate in under 4 minutes. The food was delicious. Let me start out by saying the food is good if and when you can get it...the wait staff would rather play on their phones and look the other way after you get your food and you can FORGET a drink refill...and by the way, if and when you get an opportunity to order dessert, they are ALWAYS out of fried ice cream...the food is the best and most authentic, if you don't mind being completely unappreciated and disrespected by the wait staff. Went here for dinner with my wife. I got a seafood dish with a 'cream' sauce that was almost gag worthy. The sauce was curdled and bitter and the 'seafood' was mostly fake crab that had been burned in a pan, just awful. My wife got a dish with a tomato-ish sauce that she couldn't eat more than a few bites of because it was just as bad. The restaurant has a bar where locals hang out and add to the former-Shoney's atmosphere. One of the more intoxicated ones cornered my wife in the ladies restroom, asking for 'feminine products'. This was my worst experience thus far. I took my son to Lahacienda for his birthday and it was a nightmare. Our waitress took our order and then we never saw her again until she was bringing our ticket. I was upset because of this, I was debating on saying anything and by the time I got to the register my experience got worse. Mari Jose was on the register and she took my ticket and was ringing me up without even saying a word to me. So, since she didn't ask, I decided to tell her my experience was horrible and my waitress was horrible. She didn't say anything to me about it and said that is $36.99. I said well I see you could care less. She said I heard you, you had a bad experience, well we are busy. I said of course you are busy, a successful restaurant should be busy, but that doesn't mean to dismiss customers. I said I would just speak to the manager and she said well your waitress, Stephanie was the manager. I said then she probably needs to stick to managerial things because waitressing is not it. I proceeded to say that I would call the person over Stephanie because they should not treat people like that. Then she asked if i wanted a copy of my recipe and I said yes and asked her the name of my waitress again and she in a rude, snarky tone told me and then I asked her name and she told me, but was quick to tell me, again in a snarky tone that I misspelled it. So, I let her know it was just way too busy and I didn't have time to spell it correctly. I was on the fence with my waitress because she didn't mess up she just wasn't around and I felt like a number. I had to go to the kitchen entrance to get my own refills and to-go container for the cheese. That is when I saw Stephanie bussing a table instead of helping me with my service. If Mari would have asked me how my visit was and then when I told her if she would have used some customer service skills and told me she was sorry for my experience and that she understood and that it was just unusually busy, then I would have felt better. This place wouldn't survive in a larger city but seems to be doing just fine here. Service was chippy and when I asked for the wifi password I was told it was for employees only. Now what kind of restaurant wants their employees online while at work is beyond me, but he was firm and kinda smart about the way he told me. The beers are typical and the food also seems like it is lacking true Mexican spices. Maybe it's the area the are worried about offending but I happen to love cumin, cilantro and jalapeño . A 'How-To' guide on losing customers by La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant. Step 1: Seat guests but give them no menus. When they ask for menus, lie to them saying you don't currently have any and are looking for some even though the SAME hostess gave out at least 5 menus AFTER seating said guests. Step 2: Wait for over 15 minutes before even taking a drink order. Step 3: When utensils are brought (but remember no orders have been taken yet) only bring fours sets when there are clearly 5 people at the table. Step 4: Have the waiters make eye contact and hear said guests complaining about the lack of any attention being paid to them while serving other guests who came in after said guests. (Oh and it really helps when one of those waiters is the owner's son) Step 5: When the customers leave angrily after over 20 minutes of wasted time allow hostess to giggle while they walk out. Step 6: Have customer go to a rival Mexican restaurant across town called The 1800 where menus were given when seated, drink orders were taken within 3 minutes of being seated and food orders where taken five minutes later. If you follow these steps you are guaranteed to lose business just like La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant did to people that have lived in Americus for 15 years and eaten at the restaurant many times in those 15 years. read more

We were traveling through from Atlanta to St. Augustine and had MANY options of places to stay, but ALAS, we chose Americus, GA because I LOVE college towns. That is, until I came to your restaurant and experienced firsthand what being UNWELCOME is like firsthand!! Surely you must know that customer service is what drives sales and ultimately profits. But if you insist on keeping your small town and judgmental wait staff and ESPECIALLY your dismissive CASHIERS who don't have a CLUE about being decent to people who have chosen your restaurant amongst many others!! My family LOVES Mexican food and have been spoiled by Los Rios in Cumming, GA. Maybe you should take a road trip some weekend to see customer service in action. My daughter and mom were NOT happy when driving through Americus, but I said they should give it a chance!! However, the shitty service and dismissive attitude of your staff has left a bad taste with all of us and we cannot wait to get out of this town tomorrow! On a lighter note, the food was delicious, but for the sake of your overall survival, scrap the front staff COMPLETELY and start over with people who aren't jaded about serving people different from them. I have always loved this place, but today they have lost my money and confidence. My 3 year old had to pee and doesn't hold it well when he tells you so I quickly grabbed my bags and left the table in a hurry along with my 4 year old. I looked around first to see if I saw my waiter but did not. I walked quickly and told my 4 year old to hurry because his brother needed to go potty. While in the bathroom they cleaned my table off. I understand mistakes happen but not only did they throw our food away my 3 year old doesn't eat very many things so all if food that had been brought with us was also laid out on the table. 2 of the things were not even opened but the one that cleaned the table still threw it away. Also I walked right by the checkout place because the bathroom is right behind it. I was alone with 2 small children. I know I should of said something but I was trying to hurry and was not able to wait for someone to come to the table. I thought that my unopened food and that they knew I rushed by that I was trying to hurry back. The man was very nice to be willing to recook us our food but I couldn't sit there and eat whole my other child watched us eat bc he had no food left because it was in the trash. Then when I asked what could be done at the front desk she said that the cleaner said my food was all mostly gone but a taco. I had not even finished my enchilada that comes with the speedy special. I still had beans on my plate. My son had not even ate his quesadilla. I did get a new quesadilla for my son bc he was in tears his food had been thrown away. All they were willing to do is take $5 off my not even half eaten food. I paid because I did not want to cause any issue that might harm my children. I did consider walking out but I did not want to be that person and I also didn't want anyone to try to stop me and possibly harm my children. I would not do anything that could put them in danger. Excellent Mexican food, full stocked bar. The remodel of the restaurant is very nice and warming to the eye. The service was excellent. I travel the US and I put LaHacienda near the top of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Portions are plentiful and the price is right. read more
