Americus is lucky. Blessed even. This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to. Does that include Mexico? No, but Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona - yes. I tried a few items: birria taquitos, beef tamale, carnitas. The taquitos were the best I've ever had. Tamale, solid. Carnitas, fresh and well prepared. Verde was fresh with a vinegar hit that balanced the pork wonderfully. Speaking of birria, 1) never had them in a taquito form and that's a shame and 2) their birria is spread over numerous available options. This is the way. Why is this so rare? Love it. Yet another thing that makes this place amazing. Service was outstanding and capable. We had a party of six and were well served. The bartenders were always genuinely smiling - it's obvious they were happy to be there. That is rare, sadly, and goes a long way. I ordered a "skinny margarita" (always embarrassing) to get fresh mix and I was rewarded. Very well crafted. The building itself is almost but not quite "fine dining" nice. Unexpected in an affordable Mexican restaurant (sorry - truth). I'd take a date here no doubt. Beyond happy I got to experience 1800, but sad that I live so far away from it. read more

While visiting the Americus Georgia area we found a local Mexican restaurant. The Restaurant was clean and inviting. Very few people inside. We were greated and seated right a way. Ordered a couple of drinks while we checked out the menu. Drinks were very good. We'er from Calif so we know good mexican food. The salsa was very good. I dont care for just heat, I need flavor and this had that. I had the three chicken enchilada plate. Again the flavor was was spot on. If you are in the area I would give this place a try. read more

While visiting the Americus Georgia area we stopped in to a local Mexican restaurant. Restaurant was clean and inviting. We got our meal to go. I had the Chicken Chimichanga and enjoyed every bite. Also tried a ground beef burrito. Did not enjoy it as much. My wife enjoyed a taco salad with ground beef and our daughter liked her chicken quesadillas as well. All meals were large portions. This restaurant knows what they're doing! We get jumbo cups for drinks, chorizo is out of this world. The food was hot, flavorful and just what we ordered. For a Friday night, it was certainly the place to be in town. All the servers were busy but did their job well and it was a great night out for a date! read more

On a Monday afternoon, Me and my grandparents stopped by, not expecting much. However, this is definitely the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to!! When we first walked in, we were quickly greeted and sat. The inside is a sort of western style, but still elegant. I felt a welcoming presence when we walked in. We quickly got our chips and salsa. The Cheese dip (or queso) is excellent. We ordered and quickly got our food. The 1800 special with only grilled chicken was SO GOOD!! My grandparents loved theirs as well. They said that they have been here 4 or 5 times and they loved each time. This is overall a must-do. I will definitely be returning!! read more

Food and service was great. Billing not so. Paid with Debit card, full amount including tip was deducted from my Bank. 3 Days later I'm see a separate charge for the tip. This has now happened twice. It took 10 days the first time to correct this. read more

Wow, what a shock when we went inside this beautiful restaurant! The building from the outside just looks like an old building. When you walk in you immediately notice the interior with its stone and wooden columns, wooden coffered ceiling and mix of wood and stone walls. The hardwood floors are beautiful. Enough with the decor, let's talk about the food and service. The hostess seated us right away. Our server, Luke, came and took our drink order immediately. Chips and salsa were delivered to the table. The chips were thin but not greasy and the salsa was fresh and delicious with just the right amount of heat. Our food came out quickly- we both got the lunch chicken taco salads. They were delicious!! We will definitely come back to eat here again. It was a great experience. Food was sub par. I was with a large group. Half the dishes were either burnt, wrong, or horrible. We all paid separately. Two people paid with cash. One who paid with cash, paid the bill to one of the girls at the front hostess station and then proceeded to put it under the counter. Several of us saw this. Others were still at the table and when they proceeded to leave, the help stated that one of our party didn't pay. And, the one's there were accusing was the one who paid cash and it was placed under the counter. We are a part of a local group who holds large events and have recommended this restaurant. Looks small and simple from the outside - but once you step inside, you are welcomed into a vast space with cultural decorations and ambience and a festive celebration of food and fun. Lots of menu choices. Standard "American Mexican" fare - but well-priced and very generous sized portions - and it all tastes great. We enjoyed $2.99 margaritas during happy hour, with complimentary chips (this and crispy) and salsa (thick and tasty). The tacos were also great - we had chicken and the buffalo shrimp tacos... both delicious. The meal comes with rice and lettuce as well. When we arrived at 5 pm on a Tuesday, the place was quiet and nearly empty. By 6 it was filling up and the Latino Music was playing. By time we left at 7 pm, it was rocking with happy guests and busy servers - who tended to customers with patience and attentiveness and cheerful politeness. We had the most incredible server, but the food was overcooked and inedible. After attending a Guy Penrod concert at the Americus First United Methodist Church, we went to 1800 because they were open until 11 pm. I ate at 1800 about 15 years ago and haven't been back and I could not remember why. I remember now. The food was inedible 15 years and and it is inedible now. I will try you again in 15 years. Totally cool place as far as the interior goes. I was really excited about eating there after looking at their menu and after getting there and seeing how nice the interior was designed. There were three of us. Salsa was just ok not bad but not great. I ordered the fajita taco salad. The girls ordered the house special. When the food arrived, mine was not what I had ordered. The girls had gotten what they ordered and it looked good just not a lot of meat. They took mine back to correct. It was supposed to be fajita salad but a plate of rice, beans and a small salad came out. Girls almost finished their meal before second attempt of my meal came out. It was also wrong. We ate here Saturday lured by the excellent reviews, the place wasn't the cleanest, the only good thing was the beer. Our chips were greasy and all crumbs, our dinner (3 generations plate) had a perfumed cleaner "fabuloso" aftertaste. I took my first bite and the aftertaste demolished my appetite. Our bartender was nice but didn't check on us until we were ready to go so we couldn't tell anyone the problem with our food. Stopped by after a work meeting and a party of 6 of us were hungry. Let's start with the thin crispy tortilla chips...yum! Their salsa was also tasty and a bit on the spicy side. I opted for the shrimp fajitas for my meal (lunch time), not bad. They only provided two tortillas, which was fine by me. As I was full with them. They fajitas came with all the fixins, sour cream, pico, guacamole, rice and refried beans. I was not a fan of the rice an beans, but others at the table enjoyed them. Other meals included a veggie quesadilla, chimmichunga, steak and french fries, and a beef burrito. No complaints from the table, but I will say that the chimmichunga looked a little on the small side. Overall, I'd stop by on one of my upcoming trips to the area. read more

I live in Atlanta, so I've been to plenty of good Mexican restaurants, so I went in with very high standards and was completely pleased with all of it. I have an allergy so I was scared of how it would be handled. I spoke with both managers and was very pleased with how the food was cooked. I ordered the taco loco and the seasoning was fantastic!
