Signed up for couples counseling,my spouse and myself were having some troubles communicating and we needed urgent assistance. she gave us a a printed copy of a communication meter and some suggestions and literature to read. My employer offers 5 free sessions to any counselor each year for personal, couples counseling ,or family counseling,this is how I found her. She was able to get us in really quickly. From the beginning, I thought she understood that we were seeking couples counseling but it did seem like a lot of the time she was asking me about how I felt and it didn't feel like a couples counseling. I felt like a lot of the questions were about me and my background and how I grew up versus inquiring about him to to gain more of a perspective, so I believe we went to three sessions and on the third one it felt like there wasn't really anything to talk about and I believe we even ended the 3rd session 15 minutes early. There was also a few times that there was an strange silence and I felt the need to talk randomly because she just sat there with a smile on her face, nodding in silence. I think I would have expected more of a neutral kind of counselor versus everything being about me because the sessions were through my employer. So that's kind of how I felt. Maybe her Services just for not for us. She did give us a few suggestions on some books we may consider picking up but I still have two free sessions left for this year but I think we would go with someone else in the future

She said and I quote: "I may have overestimated your level of need to connect! Sorry about that but one wishes to be more responsive then to casual when someone is getting ghosted. Not fun! Actually pretty cruel." Then went on to say "I don't think someone part-time as I am should be working with you given the circumstances." I had no idea that the website had connected me with a therapist but for her to just jump to saying I'm ghosting her is extreme.

Rebecca always went above and beyond to make sure I was getting the help I needed. She was responsive when I messaged her outside of my appointments to talk when I was having a hard time. During my appointments, she showed so much empathy and kindness. She never judged me or made me feel uncomfortable. She gave me wonderful advice, tools to use, and confidence in myself that I didn't have. Seven months later, I feel like a totally new person. I'm happy and healthy. I'm confident in myself.
