Came for my birthday dinner last night and it was thus far the best dinner we've had while visiting FL. Started off with the calamari app, the calamari itself was excellent ! The dipping sauce it came with was like an Asian sweet and sour sauce that just wasn't my vibe but the calamari being so good made up for it. For my entree i got the Laishley grouper and it was amazing. I did sub the rice for mashed potatoes and it was deeeeeliciois. Sooo much flavor! We also had a pina colada and the flavors and creaminess to it was the best one we've had since being in FL. Our second visit here did not disappoint. We had a reservation for lunch time, which turned out to be a good thing. It was very busy with an art event going on next door. We had a great table on the patio with an excellent view over the water and a marina. This time I tried the Mahi sandwich. A big piece of Mahi, grilled (the other option is blackened) on a Kaiser roll with lettuce, tomato and onion rings. It comes with Cajun Mayo on the side and fries. The fries were very good, probably double fried, nice and crispy. Our waiter was attentive and fast. There are signs not to feed the birds, for a good reason. I was looking for a seafood restaurant in this area and wanted to have the whole fish and decided to eat here. The restaurant wasn't busy at 7 p.m. It has incredible views, but it was too hot for us to sit outside. Our server was nice and attentive. We started with PEI mussels; the creamy white wine butter sauce was superb, although the portion was small for the price. Then I had the whole fried snapper. It was okay, it satisfied the craving. Could've had more seasoning as well as the rice and definitely more greens. I personally wouldn't order it again. BF had the chaufa rice, this was tasty but not enough seafood. Daughter & I came here today to get out of the cold and crazy wind while visiting the Sullivan Craft Festival, we were craving a good bowl of soup to warm us up. There was an hour wait for a table so we opted to sit at the bar since it was very nice and spacious and not crowded. They also had LOT'S of tables available outside for immediate seating with heaters but I still found it cold out there so we still chose inside at the bar. Loved the ambiance but staff could have definitely been friendlier. Daughter ordered a bowl of the homemade She Crab Soup which she loved, I tasted it and also thought it was delicious. I went with a bowl of their homemade New England Clam Chowder which was also fantastic and I would definitely order it again. I also ordered an Espresso Martini which was very well made. I had a terrific taco salad made with a nice sized piece of grilled grouper sitting on top. The taco bowl was filled with chopped iceberg lettuce, carrots, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheddar, corn and black beans.There was a side of some spicy sauce to pour over the salad or dip into. It was a good sized taco bowl; I was able to get a doggy bag for the bowl and leftover sauce. It became an evening snack. read more

I came here with a very good friend and his soon to be wife and several of her family members for dinner. We arrived before our reservations and got a drink from the bar, we were then seated at a table that easily sat the 10 of us. The place looks and feels just what it was, an ocean side crab house restaurant. So the nailed the decor. Our waitress came over immediately and got our drink orders. Than we chatted for a while asking her to wait to take our food orders which she did. When everyone had gotten to know each other we placed our orders. I got the grouper laishley and I will have to say with the exception of the rice being overcooked this was an amazing dish. I did not mention the rice because it didn't bother me enough to say anything. Just mentioning it here to say it really wasn't a big deal but note worth. This was the best grouper with crab meat and sauce I have had since leaving VA Beach and reaching at some small mom and pop places. While the reviews seem hit or miss, we had a great experience at this crab house. We sat outside on their large patio - and it was nice - we even got a little show of them removing damaged boats from the marina. We started with some of their dip and it was delicious, hot and cheesy! I had a salad with blackened scallops and loved it - the fruit was fresh, I felt the scallop portion was great for the price, and it was overall a great meal. The pros: plenty of parking spots. the location is great, views are wonderful, great area to take a walk after lunch or dinner, love the look of the interior, lots of seating indoors and outside. We were sat at a high table in the bar area. Although there was only one waitress for the whole area, she had good service and was attentive and friendly. The food: a bit pricey. My parents got the shrimp pasta and they loved it. My fried shrimp plate was ok. Came with plenty of shrimp, but Batter was a little mush on the shrimp and then the hush puppies were so over cooked i couldn't bite into one of them. They were super hard. Husband's meal, he said was a bit fishy and bland. I was really wanting and asked to get Parmesan risotto without protein/seafood but they would not allow changes, I'm guessing it's premade. Walked over from a nearby hotel for lunch and sat on the deck looking over the marina. The service was fantastic, everyone was friendly, and the food arrived quickly. The two bars are really cool and the outdoor deck was great. The view over the marina was beautiful, except for all the boats still lying all over the place from the last hurricane. We started with a dozen oysters for the market price of $30, which seemed comical for this type of place. We only counted 10 oysters on the tray though, even though we ordered a dozen. It wasn't worth a complaint to the server over two oysters but still didn't seem right. For my lunch, I had the Pacific Grouper Wrap and fries. The wrap wasn't great and was so soggy and just dripping all over my plate. The fish didn't have great flavor and I didn't love it. The brownie sundae was delicious though. My wife and I, along with another couple, took the boat to Punta Gorda and had lunch at Laishley Crab House -- we'll be back. Boat parking was easy to find; a few slips were closed, but there were plenty of open spots for several boats. The food was excellent -- we enjoyed the fish and chips, the poke bowl, and a grouper reuben -- everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. The patio offers a lovely view where the Peace River meets Charlotte Harbor, and there are plenty of seating options both indoors and outdoors. NOPE !!! Don't be Fooled like Us. Definitely a Tourist Trap. Had a reservation and sat quickly. Ordered drinks and Apps. Steamed Mussels and Gyoza. Mussels (10 Total) came out cold like the Gyoza. Dinner Grouper Laishley and Tuscan Shrimp came out right after making a full table. Tuscan Shrimp was tasty but way too much sauce making it more like a soup. The Grouper portion was the size of my palm and cold. Both sides with the Grouper were terrible. Obviously got the bottom of the lunch pan of rice, big chunks burnt together and the rest of the rice was hard, even the replacement rice was the same. Total time in the restaurant for dinner - 36 Mins. For $120, Won't make that mistake again. read more

We really wanted to like this place but the waterfront setting is great and it seemed like the perfect stop before getting back on the road from Tampa to Ft Lauderdale but unfortunately, the experience just didn't deliver. We sat on the patio and had bar service, which ended up being one of the biggest issues however, we love bar seating and the wait outside was roughly 30. The two older gentlemen bartenders outside seemed completely disengaged and we rarely got their attention unless we actively tracked them down. It made getting drinks, refills, or even basic attention pretty frustrating throughout the meal. I proudly bartend in downtown Tampa, so I understand being busy between two people 100%, but zero eye contact and no communication comes across poorly as a customer. As for the food, it was unfortunately underwhelming across the board. The sushi and sashimi weren't to our taste due to lack of freshness, and the clam chowder was very bland. I ordered the oyster Rockefeller, expecting also some flavor from the parmesan and garlic, but they lacked seasoning to the point where I was adding a lot of lemon and salt just to bring them to life. The one bright spot was the hazy IPA, but getting another on empty was tough too. Overall, between the service and food, it just didn't meet expectation especially for a spot with such a great location and atmosphere after doing some research on where to pop in. Hoping this was just an off night, but based on this visit and first impression, we wouldn't return. read more

Laishley Crab House I have been wanting to stop by this place for a while and I finally got the chance to. I just love this place. They are on the 2nd floor but have an elevator to help get you there. The inside is huge with a very large bar area and a massive Crab hanging from the ceiling. There are lots of seating on the inside but where I believe where they shine is the seating on the Patio overlooking the River and Harbor. The view is just amazing. For an Appetizer we ordered the Shrimp Cocktail and a bowl of Clam Chowder to share. For our main orders I got the Captain's Platter which had Shrimp, Clam Strips, Grouper, Hush Puppies Fries or Coleslaw. My wife ordered the Blackened Scallop Salad which had Blackened Scallops served over a Spring Mix with Strawberries, Walnuts and Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing. Our Appetizers came out first and they looked good, and they were. The Shrimp were large, and the Clam Chowder was very good. Our main orders came out they looked amazing. They were very good, and our plates were full. All our food was hot and very flavorful. Our waiter Billy was on the ball with any needs we had, and he checked on us many times. Sat at the outside Bar on a windy day...but it was worth it. Ordered the caesar salad with lightly blackened Grouper. Perfect! Fresh crispy romaine lettuce, lots of parm. cheese and a sprinkle of Croutons. $20.00 lunch special and add the cost of tea. Well worth it! Amazing unsweetened ice tea. Arrived at 12:00 / Thursday and the lunch crowd was coming in fast...parking was getting a little tough and there was a 45 minute wait to get a table on the deck...so you may want to arrive a little bit earlier. Hubby ordered Grouper sandwich lightly blackened and he loved it. Also on the lunch special $20.00 plus cost of tea. Bartenders were professional and accurate and helpful with ordering. Well its been a few years since i last left a review here and I am happy to report its still great! This place gets pretty busy but thankfully you can reserve a table online and be sat right away. The food is still absolutely delicious. Everything hit the spot this new year. Started with an order of conch fritters which has this awesomely amazing cajun mayo. Grabbed my usual fried grouper sandwich let me tell you the trick ask for some extra cajun mayo and slap it into that bad boy. You can message me later and thank me. Today we tried something different we had an order of the Green Dragon sushi roll. Consisted of Tempura Shrimp, creme cheese, cucumber topped with thin sliced avocado. We had reservations for four of us at the crab house, however, we could not be seated till the other couple arrived so we went to the bar and ask for an IPA the bartender was kind of grouchy. She said they had three of them. I said I like a light IPA with a hint of fruit and she says I told you I had three of them which one do you want so I picked one. the bar was pretty cool and had a huge crab over at the top of it. When the other couple came we were promptly seated by two very smiley, polite, hostess we sat out on the patio overlooking the water. It was beautiful both my wife and I had a cup of the she crab soup. I highly recommend it. It was delicious. We then decided to split the crab quesadilla. I was disappointed it tasted just OK. I would not order it again. Our friends had the grouper sandwich. He said it was delicious. She ordered the crab cake sandwich and she said it was also good. Our server was fantastic. We ate at Laishley's for a weekday lunch. It was pretty busy. Our service was okay, but seemed that they were short on servers for the number of tables. Our group of four ordered 3 different salads with and without seafood as well as a grilled fish sandwich. While everyone seemed to be satisfied with their meals, nobody seemed to be particularly wowed either. Was fairly pricey for what we received. Before our server even brought us our check, another employee came by to suggest that we leave so that our table could be used. We told her that we had just finished our food and were waiting on the check. Once the check came and was paid, she came by again to tell us that we needed to leave. I could understand if we had been lingering there for a long time, but that was not the case. So..we left. I don't know that we would eat at Laishley's again if we had other options. read more

We did voice our concern about the hostess & was told that many people have commented, but nothing is done. Customer service training maybe warranted because the hostess sets the tone upfront. We had a late reservation and initially the hostess said we need to sit indoors because that was what the reservation was for & there were no outdoor tables. Our overall experience was absolutely terrible. We requested water 4 times. Drink order wrong to the point I had to go to the bar and order a vodka shot and tumbler to self mix the drink. My son that eats everything ordered the "crab cakes " from a supposedly Crabhouse, received two tasteless hockey pucks that definitely did not look handmade in-house. Did not finish his meal. Husband's order was totally the wrong dish. By the time the corrected order came we asked it to just box it to go as the other two diners had finished. They also got this wrong. We had to box it ourselves. Our "waitress" the whole time serving drinks at the bar. To cap our night, our check did not even come itemized. Just $192.60 of total disappointment. Today is the Fourth of July. My husband and I went here to have a drink and celebrate the fact that I am recovering slowly but surely from a rare illness that temporarily has me confined to a wheelchair. The hostess informed us we could not sit outside nor could we sit by a window inside unless we ordered a full meal. Now I could understand this policy if the place was packed however the place was practically empty at 2:30 in the afternoon and there was plenty of seating. Sorry I couldn't belly up to the bar nor climb on those two top high tables . But one day soon I will be able to. This establishment will never see that . read more

The only reason to give this establishment 2 stars is the sunset views and out door space. Bar was nearly empty and the service was slow. Bartenders were busy talking to each other and the wait staff and were overheard complaining about a customer. The sushi that we ordered for dinner was lower quality and taste than sushi that I have gotten at a grocery store. We left without finishing our dinner. Aside from our kind server, the staff seemed unhappy to be there, not a lot of welcoming faces. Historically this has been a go to place for a good night out for good food and drinks.
