Sandra's is the only choice for you if you are looking for great authentic German food. Living in PGI I often forget it's there as it's tucked away on Olympia, but then I go and it reminds me that I should go here more often!!! The food is reliably good and there is a great variety of dishes and it's all good. This was like taking our Viking River cruise down the Rhine all in one night. Cocktails and beer selection are superb and the pricing is reasonable. To top it off the owner is very friendly, gracious and accommodating to all her patrons. I live in New York and my sister in Port Charlotte. I notice she posted about trying this place out with her Emojis of Yummy. My sister had a massive stroke some time back and I was excited to take her here. Our mother was German and since she can't cook anymore, I thought this would be the perfect place. We had the giant pretzel, Jäger schnitzel, red cabbage, and spätzle. It was delicious! Unfortunately, no room for dessert as the portions were of good size. I'm sorry I didn't take before pictures, however all plates were cleaned and Pils Steins were empty. The staff was amazing and I can't wait to take her again on my next visit. bad experience! was seated at a table under a leaky roof. waitress was indifferent to the point of almost rude. never was offered a refill! food was marginal at best. Stopped in for dinner after a friend recommended it. We both tried the special schnitzel cordon blue with red cabbage and potatoe pancakes. Probably one of the best schnitzel we have had. We've been wanting to try Sandra's for a long time, so it was exciting to finally be here for lunch. The service was great, not very busy on a Thursday at 12:30ish. My husband was disappointed to learn cordon bleu is a special for Thursday dinner only and that you can only get Wiener Schnitzel at dinner. So, we both ordered the pork schnitzel, mine as a sandwich in pretzel bread and his with fries The Schnitzel, sauerkraut and pretzel bread were very good. We ordered the chocolate mousse for dessert, yum. And the German beer was great. The atmosphere was typical German decor, which was nice. We'll be back to try the cordon bleu and Wiener schnitzel. read more

This was the first time that my husband and I visited a German restaurant, but it won't be the last! We absolutely enjoyed every aspect of this eating experience. The ambience was very pleasant from the moment that we walked in we were promptly greeted. We had made reservations from the day before because they get completely booked. For appetizer, we had the sauerkraut balls, which are heavenly! We also had the pretzel with beer and cheese did. That was another delicious choice! For dinner we decided to try the European sampler that included a pork cutlet, red cabbage with apples, a wonderful sausage and a stew with beef and chicken. Everything was exceptional. Sandra's has been our go to restaurant for a family dinner once a season. After our experience on our last visit we will be finding another place to meet. The noise level was so loud you couldn't converse with the person next to you. People were having a good time but one table was exceedingly boisterous . Our server was good and took our orders. The bar and kitchen seemed overwhelmed. It took over 15 minutes to get the drinks. Salads came out before appetizers. Our entree's came out after another 45 minutes. In the meantime things were getting out of hand at the "boisterous" table. Management made no effort to step in a control the situation. Drinks kept being served. Great little restaurant for authentic German food. Ambiance is great right down to the guy in lederhosen playing the accordion. The jager schnitzel was delicious as well as the potato pancakes. Spatzel was a little bland but with some gravy it improved. Staff is super friendly and efficient. Make sure to wash everything down with a stein!! Stayed in Punta Gorda just to have the opportunity to eat Awesome German at Sandra's only to find out she is on vacation for the month and not open. Extremely disappointed. It has been three years since I have been able to be back in the area and was so hoping to be able to sit at her bar and enjoy her great food. Hopefully I will be back in the area again much sooner. We've been wanting to try this German Restaurant for a long time! David was born in Germany and spent many years there with his father in the Service. So we are always looking for German Restaurants here and on the road. It's a beautiful warm, windy day and we have Freckles with us, so we decided to try Sandra's. Located on West Olympia in Punta Gorda, there is parking across the street in the public garage. I entered through the front door and the restaurant was just adorable. Next time, we will have to sit inside and enjoy the decor. So we headed for the outside, which lookled like a little Biergarten! We opted for today's buffet which was homemade tomato rice soup, pork roast in gravy, smoked and regular brats, warm potato salad, sauerkraut, curry gravy, German lite and dark bread, and bread balls which are like stuffing. Since I am watching the carbs, I tasted the soup-delish and had pork roast, sauerkraut and potato salad. All homemade and very good! Dave had everything! We will have to come back on a Saturday when they have all you can eat Sauerbraten, Dave's favorite. The staff is extremely warm, friendly and attentive and made us feel at home! Great find! Had reservations for a Saturday because that's the day that "sauer braten" is the special. By the time we ordered, it was sold out, so I ordered a pork dish and chose bread dumplings and sauerkraut as my sides. All three were a pleasure to my taste buds! I had never had (or even heard of) bread dumplings; they were good - Tasted like stuffing. The sauerkraut was so tender, it almost melted in my mouth. The orik was tender, and a large portion doused in a mild gravy with a few carrots for color. Our table also shared the large, German pretzel as an appetizer. It was served with beer cheese and two German mustards. I was totally stuffed, but when husband ordered the apple strudel for dessert, I couldn't help but taking a bite! It did not disappoint! And, as a bonus, there was live music, too! Will definitely return. I'd like to try the lunch buffet. read more

Service was great and friendly. Food was meh. If you want Schweinshaxe on a Friday, it must be reserved apparently which we didn't know. Brown gravy on schnitzel lacked flavor as did the beer cheese dip that came with the pretzel - not enough cheese in the dip and way too much cream. My husband said the red cabbage tasted creamy, which is not an adjective that comes to mind when I think of red cabbage tasted creamy. Anyway, we were pretty disappointed. The servers and owner were all very nice - too bad the food wasn't better. read more

My wife and I decided to try Sandra's last night (Saturday). Our last experience during their Oktoberfest meal was poor. Both service and food were substandard. Tonight, we both had wiener schnitzel. The Bratkartoffeln potatoes outclassed the schnitzel. Our schnitzels were wafer thin and if you took the crust away, the meat was paper thin. Very disappointing. We ended the meal and shared Spaghetti Ice Cream. It is advertised as "Vanilla ice cream given the appearance of spaghetti, topped with our homemade strawberry sauce." What we got was a clump of vanilla ice cream with some strawberry sauce and whipped cream on the side. Our meal with drinks and one dessert was $97. Not worth the price. We are discerning patrons of great German food having lived in Northern and Southern Germany. This meal was one of the worst. Sandra needs to speak to her customers, get feedback and make improvements where needed. read more

Very disappointed with Sandra's. Went on Friday for lunch. Decided to try the Buffett. Certainly not worth 16.99 per person. They had schnitzel, bratwurst, potatoe salad, sauerkraut, creme sauce and brown Jaeger gravy. There was no bratwurst, 2 small pieces of schnitzel. We each took one and was told they would bring out more. 2 more small schnitzel came out. Ended up ordering a side salad Would not recommend the all you can eat buffet cause you'll go hungry and your pise will be emptied. read more
