Salmon and shrimp with rice pilaf and green beans
    Stacey A.

I've been to the Winesett many times and I've always loved it but this most recent time was off the charts delicious. Thanks again for never disappointing!!

    Grilled ribeye. Cooked to temp

I went back a few evenings later and ordered a bowl of the southern style lobster bisque and the ribeye as my entree. The creamy bisque was not overpowering- there were small amounts of sweet corn and a topping of bacon and green onion. I would have liked some bits of lobster meat as well. The ribeye was grilled to temp-tender and flavorful and resting over a drizzle of sweet bbq sauce on the plate. The steak was accompanied by fresh steamed green beans and sautéed mushrooms and quartered red potatoes. Delicious. I ended with a key lime pie slice to go. It had the right consistency and tart to it and real whipped cream on the side.

I only found one thing on the menu I liked, and that was the salmon salad minus the onions. I must say it was delicious. The dressing was fantastic. Several dishes had shrimp included, which I don't like, and I'm also not a fan of rice pilaf. I guess I am just too picky. The calamari was okay, but the sauce on top was great. The guys enjoyed the oysters Rockefeller, a steak medallion special, and the scallops.

    What a great experience!

We went to the Winesett House and were treated like family!Dave was our server and was definitely on point. He was very accommodating and made our experience spectacular! The food was outstanding. I had the best bone-in pork chop ever! We also had the short rib and shrimp, surf and turf, and ribeye. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasty as hell. The decor has a masculine feel, authentic, and cozy. Then came the owner, Travis Winesett. What an awesome host, owner, and head chef! He spent so much time with us and made us feel like family. I fully recommend this restaurant from top to bottom!

Winesett House is a favorite on West Marion. It is a beautiful restaurant with a semicircular bar and several rooms. An evening in the lovely garden outside is so enjoyable. Bill Frederick, a popular local entertainer, performs there weekly. Look for your bill to be presented in one of the vintage books from the library where patrons have written reviews. There is nowhere quite like the Winesett House. JM Johnston

    The Royal Jelly

This was my second visit to Winesett House, and I was so excited to be back! I came last year on a trip to Punta Gorda, and the restaurant stood out so much that I had to go again this year. The ambiance is cozy and feels upscale without crazy prices, and the staff is kind and attentive. We started with 2 signature cocktails, and both were great! The Royal Jelly was definitely gin forward, but really well balanced with nice flavor. We enjoyed the complimentary warm bread before the meal, and since we were saving room for dessert, we went right into entrees! The seared sea scallop risotto was heavenly - the scallops were perfectly cooked, and the risotto was full of flavor. The lightness of the scallops balanced the heavier risotto base perfectly. My friend enjoyed the short rib and shrimp entree, which was also delicious! The short rib was extremely tender with a great mustard sauce, and the shrimp had a fun chimichurri sauce that paired really well! Served on a bed of mashed potatoes with asparagus, you can't go wrong with this dish. We saved the last of our appetites for key lime pie for dessert, which was the perfect way to end the meal! I love this restaurant and it will continue to be a staple for me when I'm in Punta Gorda.

Salmon with jumbo shrimp, asparagus and rice! The best!!!

We always enjoy having dinner in Punta Gorda at Winesett. All the menu items we have tried have been delicious! Now that tourist season is winding down, it is much easier to get a table!

The food, staff & atmosphere are PHENOMENAL. My favorite has been the pork chop with mustard aioli however, marinated steak tip special out of this world.

    Super cute place!

This was our first time here and super happy we chose it! Super cute restaurant, amazing staff and great food. Just an overall good vibe!We had a party of 9 and didn't call for reservations until the day of, and they were so nice and put three tables together for us! I ordered a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives; and for our main entree we got the pork chop, seared scallops and braised short rib. The braised short rib was my favorite. Highly recommend!

Really cool place in downtown Punta Gorda. Ashley our server was probably the best server I have ever experienced! She was attentive, knowledgeable and confident in her role. She made great recommendations and made sure we had everything we needed especially as we were celebrating a milestone birthday. The food was wonderful as well - wonderful favorites with a little twist.

We came for dinner and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Parking was easy to find, and we were seated right away. The service was excellent, with attentive servers and food and drinks arriving quickly. Everything we ordered was delicious. I had the rigatoni without sausage and also tried the calamari and lobster bisque, which were all outstanding. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice spot to enjoy a great dinner.

Chilean Sea Bass with lobster cream sauce over rice pilaf. Special of the day

WOWOWOWOWOW!! Let me preface this by saying I expected great things from this restaurant based on reviews and pricing. They were WELL exceeded. We made a reservation and were able to be seated outside even with an event going on. We appreciated it. We started with drinks and bread. The bread was fresh and warm. The perfect start. Our waitress gave great recommendations for food which we took. She let us take our time and enjoy our drinks before ordering. Everyone of our dishes were impeccable. My husband ate his Chilean sea bass in 10 mins. He rarely finished a meal. I could not believe it. The asparagus were the size of trees!! The salmon and short ribs were a highlight. We could not get enough. We ended with the chocolate mousse bomb. Omg even if we didn't have room we could make some for this delicious dessert!! It was the perfect cap. EVERYONE who works here takes the time to make sure the experience was amazing. We appreciated being checked on for water and drinks even after we had paid. Only complaint was I wanted to go here based on the fresh oyster reviews only to find out they don't serve them. Still so happy we went. The highlight of our trip!!

Came here on a Friday night and we loved this restaurant! The staff were so friendly and attentive. I ordered the risotto with scallops and it tasted delicious. We came closer to closing time so I was pleased our food and service was very good. They also were playing live music, it was a very cute restaurant. I'd recommend!

The food was absolutely delicious, although all our meals did not come out at the same time and we had a wait a few minutes till my daughter-in-law got her meal, it was hot and cooked to perfection tho. I had the best arugula salad ever, perfectly balanced with the tomatoes, red roasted peppers, blue cheese, and balsamic dressing, and also the beef tenderloin skewers, which were cooked, medium rare and served with crispy potatoes that were seasoned spot on, just enough to make it a delightful dinner! My daughter-in-law had the swordfish which she said was very tasty, my son-in-law had the chicken Christina, which he devoured, and my husband had the cheese raviolis and meatballs, which were on the children's menu, but they said they could give him the adult size portion, which he also enjoyed. I tasted his meatballs and sometimes they are not the best everywhere, these were very good. I normally do take pictures of the food, but I forgot because we were so hungry and dug in as soon as we got our meals, but the presentation was very satisfying. The only negatives were, the music was very loud, and we could barely have a conversation, only when the band took a break, and our waitress didn't put much effort into being friendly or going the extra mile. Had to tell her to get my husband, ice, lemons for our water, and remind her about my daughter-in-law's meal that we were waiting for a couple times. Overall, would definitely go back there and recommend!

A MUST when I'm in Punta Gorda!…read more My friend moved to Punta Gorda a couple of years ago. I've visited her 3 times, and we make sure to come here every time I'm in town. The bar/restaurant is located right on the water with great views! The parking lot is also the same lot used by the adjacent hotel, so it can sometimes be hard to find a park, depending on the day and time. It's a mixture of great outdoor spaces as well as covered spaces. There's also a private event space that's really nice as well. I've been at night as well as during the day and have enjoyed every experience. The staff is friendly and great! I even fell, I mean face-planted, one evening, and the staff made sure to check on me and see if I needed medical attention. The menu is pretty straightforward, and the bar is your basic bar. They have a drink menu, but a full bar as well. Everything is also well-priced. I haven't ordered food, so I can't give a review of the food. I will definitely be back on my next visit to PG!

I had to go to the bar to order food and drinks. Well ... I didn't get my food until I complained to the manager 2 hours later and the burger was a hockey puck because it had been sitting under the heat lamp for WAY too long plus it had more salt than ketchup on it. The manager tried making excuses until I told him, "If your waitresses would gave done their jobs two hours ago we wouldn't be having this conversation." I have gone back since then, but I stopped buying the VIP tickets and I stopped eating food there. I just enjoy the music and buy a drink or two. They've easily lost $500 from me because the manager didn't say, "I'm sorry" and make sure that I got a hot, fresh meal that was cooked correctly that night. The location is beautiful. The management is second rate at best.

I looked at the outdoor bar but every single seat was taken. All the outdoor tables were booked. So I went inside and saw the inside bar was also full. A table for ten and a table for 6 had departed and needed to be bussed, but both were too much for just one person. So I checked in w the hostess and she asked - booth or table. I wanted table. I got a nice table by the river! Lovely views. Exactly what I wanted. Menus were dropped and soon, Sam was checking in on me. I was so hungry, I had looked at the menu and pics on my way there. I went for the crab cake appetizer and the Gold Wave cocktail. For my entree, I was torn between the Grouper Reuben and the Sea Dog (fried grouper on a long roll, topped with all sorts of goodness). Sam said grouper Reuben was his choice. He asked if I wanted grilled, blackened or fried. I told him to surprise me. For my side, I had the choice of (more) coleslaw (it has coleslaw instead of sauerkraut), fries, sweet potato fries, or a side house or Cesar salad for $4 more. I went w the house salad and their standard citrus vinaigrette. Salad and crab cake came out first. Salad was a huge portion- romaine (some pieces needed better washing), red onion galore, halved cherry tomatoes and cucumber slices. It was great, but needed croutons. The crab cake was the perfect size for one person. It had a whole grain mustard remoulade sauce. Yum! It had some filler but also had a lot of crab. I enjoyed it. The grouper Rueben came out hot!!!! Served with a side of coleslaw and a pickle. I added some needed salt. Boy that fish filet was huge. Sam had put it in grilled for me. Healthy. Nice. I ate half and then I was stuffed. I filled up on the salad and crabcake apparently. I enjoyed the views of boaters going by. It started to rain hard and the folks outside just stayed there. The overhang must've been protecting them well. My server, Sam, was around often to answer my questions. Apparently the grouper Reuben market price is only $21. And if you want redfish or mahi, the price is the same- $21! That's crazy. What a deal. The gold wave is made with Elijah Craig; Good ol Kentucky bourbon. And for dessert, they have cheesecake, peanut butter pie, mud pie, key lime pie, coconut sorbet and orange cake (which he says is a local favorite). I was too stuffed to buy but happy to hear the list. Overall I had a wonderful meal and service was really good. I would recommend adding croutons to the salad, and cleaning up the bathrooms regularly. This place ain't fancy. It's a dirt parking lot. The tables are naked. Folks come casual. However, the prices are great and the food does the talking. Come check them out.

So a few things to know: this restaurant Stretto, has become the only sit down restaurant in the Sun Seeker "Resort". When Sunseeker opened before the take over by Hilton, there was Maury's steakhouse and 2 other restaurants. We ate at Maury's , it was pricey but food selection and quality was up to Par with a fine dining restaurant. So since Hilton bought the hotel, the other restaurants are gone and Stretto is the Only restaurant on the premises unless you want to eat in the food court. My experience at Stretto was negative to say the least. I booked the at Sunseeker for Father's Day weekend. Made reservations at Stretto expecting a great time. We got there and right away I knew this was not Maury's . Wait staff lack the experience and professionalism of a fine dining venue. Our waitress Melody waited a long time after we had ordered drinks and appetizers to casually announce they were out of sea bass and scallops. Mind you they have a very limited menu and entrees run from $48 pork chops, $76 short ribs $209 steak. Based on the mixed reviews of the restaurant the sea bass and scallops were the safest options. So now I had no choice but to find another expensive option on their limited pricey menu. I would have left except we would get charge $25 a person for last minute cancellation and I didn't want to spoil my husband's special dinner. I ordered the $56 Pan seared bronzino which was fried not seared. It was a blend piece of finish on the plate. Everything is à la carte. Sides are $13-18. My husband had a 4" petit filet at $58 that was over seasoned and average. A wedge salad with a chewy piece of bacon that the knife couldn't cut and could not be swallowed. Cold truffle fries . Everything was salty . All in all, very disappointing and upsetting experience. Poor food quality, service at a high price point. After we were done and we got the check, it took the waitress at least 15-20 minutes to process payment while my husband was exhausted and anxious to leave. If you're staying at Sunseeker, don't waste your money. Get in your car or uber to one of the many restaurants within 10-15 min from the hotel.

Party of one and I was seated right away in the bar area. Charlotte was my server and she was great. I asked for her recommendations, which all sounded amazing, but I went with the grilled prawns, 6 oz filet, mashed potatoes, and Brussels sprouts. Here's my honest breakdown: Grilled prawns 3/5. The first bite had that perfect charred, grilled flavor... so good. But the second one didn't hit the same. Steak 5/5. Absolutely buttery, tender, and honestly didn't even need a knife. Chef's kiss. Mashed potatoes 4/5. Really good, just a touch too much garlic for my liking. Brussels sprouts 2/5. This one disappointed me. The cheese wasn't melted and the glaze was way too sweet. I only managed a couple bites and left the rest, which says a lot because I love Brussels sprouts. Now let's talk about that bread and butter... chef's kiss all over again. Creamy, whipped, and just downright delicious. I would gladly take that to go. Overall, it's a solid, typical steakhouse experience. Nothing over the top, but definitely some highlights. One suggestion though... please add key lime pie to the menu. That should be a staple at any restaurant in Florida, just saying.

The dipping sauce it came with was like an Asian sweet and sour sauce that just wasn't my vibe but the calamari being so good made up for it. For my entree i got the Laishley grouper and it was amazing. I did sub the rice for mashed potatoes and it was deeeeeliciois. Sooo much flavor! We also had a pina colada and the flavors and creaminess to it was the best one we've had since being in FL. I'll be dreaming about it tonight lol Kyle was our server and she was so sweet and attentive! Would highly suggest this place for dinner - the vibes are high and the food and staff are great!
