On Saturday, June 20, 2026, CHARLOTTE COUNTY GIRLFRIENDS' had a FATHER's celebration brunch at Winesett House in Punta Gorda on Marion Street. The Winesett House is decorum and ambiance above all. Once you enter you are immediately taken to an English Fine Dining Establishment. We started with refreshments at the bar, with delicious Bloody Mary's, fine Wines of all sorts, Martinis, etc Then we went into the private dining room off the front of the entrance. Comfortable, well place tables, with enough room for our guest to mingle between tables. The staff is superb, the starters, appetizers are enticing, and the entrees are a wide range of variety from salmon to chicken with waffles, glorious fresh salads, breakfast sandwiches, burgers, steaks. All very well prepared to your desire. This event was our second celebration at Winesett House, always we are extremely pleased. We will return definitely for another future occasion. read more

We went here on Easter with 4:15 reservations. ( note to self they don't seat you until your set time). Kendall was our server and she was awesome, very friendly and attentive. I asked if I could order the short ribs without the shrimp and was told that they would and they double up on the other protein all the time. So I got the short ribs and a standard salad, the wife got the crostini's with goat cheese and scallops. All of the food was excellent, we had enough to take home for another meal. Ambiance was down home worm feeling and I will definitely go back for those special days. Our bill was $109.00 plus tax and tip for two people with one alcoholic beverage. read more

We had dinner on a week night. We had a reservation but this place is fairly big, so we didn't need it. We were sat immediately. Our server came around and poured us water and took our drink order. They have these cute refillable glass water bottles with their logo on it. My lemon tart-tini cocktail was good- but the bartender failed to put the graham cracker crust on the rim and the whipped cream:( I mentioned it to the server but instead of her saying they'd make it again- she asked if I wanted it on the side. What? I decided not to make a big deal out of it. Dinner was excellent. The salad was unique and delicious. The complimentary bread appeared to be undercooked and over floured but surprisingly it was very good. I love that they had a side of butter as well as a side of butter with local honey! My husband had the scallops over risotto; it wasn't really risotto texture though. It was more like rice- it didn't have that creaminess. He didn't eat much of that but the scallops were huge and had a nice crust. The lighting was low- forgive my terrible scallop picture. I had the short rib and shrimp combo. I don't know how the shrimp and the short rib go together. They seemed like two dishes side by side and not like a pairing, but I did enjoy both of them. I was very happy that I could say no to the potato and instead get double veggie. Our server said normally there is a charge for that but she felt bad about the lack of quality control on my cocktail, so she was able to nix the double veggie charge. Sweet. :) For dessert, we asked for the salted caramel cheesecake. We were so sad to hear that they had sold out of the cheesecake!!!! We had our hearts set on that so none of the other options sounded good. So instead we just shared a dessert cocktail- coconut white chocolate martini- was tasty. The restaurant is cozy and upscale. The bathrooms are clean. Parking is along the street. Service is good. I would recommend this place for a date night dinner. read more

I went back a few evenings later and ordered a bowl of the southern style lobster bisque and the ribeye as my entree. The creamy bisque was not overpowering- there were small amounts of sweet corn and a topping of bacon and green onion. I would have liked some bits of lobster meat as well. The ribeye was grilled to temp-tender and flavorful and resting over a drizzle of sweet bbq sauce on the plate. The steak was accompanied by fresh steamed green beans and sautéed mushrooms and quartered red potatoes. Delicious. I ended with a key lime pie slice to go. I only found one thing on the menu I liked, and that was the salmon salad minus the onions. I must say it was delicious. The dressing was fantastic. Several dishes had shrimp included, which I don't like, and I'm also not a fan of rice pilaf. I guess I am just too picky. The calamari was okay, but the sauce on top was great. This was my second visit to Winesett House, and I was so excited to be back! I came last year on a trip to Punta Gorda, and the restaurant stood out so much that I had to go again this year. The ambiance is cozy and feels upscale without crazy prices, and the staff is kind and attentive. We started with 2 signature cocktails, and both were great! The Royal Jelly was definitely gin forward, but really well balanced with nice flavor. We enjoyed the complimentary warm bread before the meal, and since we were saving room for dessert, we went right into entrees! The seared sea scallop risotto was heavenly - the scallops were perfectly cooked, and the risotto was full of flavor. The lightness of the scallops balanced the heavier risotto base perfectly. My friend enjoyed the short rib and shrimp entree, which was also delicious! The short rib was extremely tender with a great mustard sauce, and the shrimp had a fun chimichurri sauce that paired really well! Served on a bed of mashed potatoes with asparagus, you can't go wrong with this dish. We saved the last of our appetites for key lime pie for dessert, which was the perfect way to end the meal! I love this restaurant and it will continue to be a staple for me when I'm in Punta Gorda. read more

WOWOWOWOWOW!! Let me preface this by saying I expected great things from this restaurant based on reviews and pricing. They were WELL exceeded. We made a reservation and were able to be seated outside even with an event going on. We appreciated it. We started with drinks and bread. The bread was fresh and warm. The perfect start. Our waitress gave great recommendations for food which we took. She let us take our time and enjoy our drinks before ordering. Everyone of our dishes were impeccable. My husband ate his Chilean sea bass in 10 mins. He rarely finished a meal. I could not believe it. The asparagus were the size of trees!! The salmon and short ribs were a highlight. We could not get enough. We ended with the chocolate mousse bomb. Omg even if we didn't have room we could make some for this delicious dessert!! It was the perfect cap. EVERYONE who works here takes the time to make sure the experience was amazing. We appreciated being checked on for water and drinks even after we had paid. We came here on Father's Day expecting it to be busy. It wasn't overly crowded but there was loud live music which made the atmosphere a little less steakhouse and a little more bar vibe. My Cobia was cooked perfectly and the Grit cake was also crispy and cooked well. My husband's filet however was much too overcooked. He asked for medium rare which the very nice server repeated to him and when it came it was medium well. He doesn't often send things back but he considered it, by the time our server came to the table about ten minutes after we got our food he just decided to keep it as he had about a third of the steak gone. The potatoes as you can see are also very well done and he said tasted a little burnt. Overall it was a decent place, not bad prices. We probably wont come back but we're glad we tried it. read more

The service was amazing. The decor is so relaxing and soothing, and the music that they were playing matched it. The food recommended by our server was spot on. The filet mignon was perfect, the ribeye was cooked to perfection, the salmon was top-notch and the shrimp and grits from a person who is so picky said it was the best he ever had. we were so busy talking we skipped on the appetizer and we were so full that we didn't have dessert, but I'm sure both are amazing. The only reason for the four-star is that I made a reservation in advance made it very clear that please give me an amazing table to impress folks that were coming to our local area. we literally got the table in the front dining room in the corner facing a rock faux rock wall. It was almost like I shouldn't have said anything at all. They have the most amazing outdoor dining and the middle dining by the bar is so elegant and we got a very cold brick wall experience. This was a delayed visit - only because PG has so many good restaurants. OUR MISTAKE!! This place is fantastic. Our server was Bailey - she never rushed us and was on top of all server check boxes. My wife enjoyed the salmon and grilled shrimp - a very pretty presentation. As I entered from the patio, I spotted a gentleman having rigatoni. Most places do not use this pasta, but based on what I saw - I'm there! Sausage and Shrimp Rigatoni. Oh my, half of it is going home with us. Absolutely fantastic sauce and lunch for tomorrow. No dessert because I think I had a top three ever - Knob Creek Maple Old Fashioned; dang it was great. It is 100% this foodie's fault for not trying Winesett House earlier. Great food at a reasonable price. We go to Punta Gorda for 3 months in the winter season for the last 5 years. This is the first time that we ate at Winesett House. I saw the good reviews and really wanted some good seafood. I decided to walk to this restaurant from my hotel. The scallops were excellent with the mushroom and spinach risotto. We made a 6:00 pm reservation and confirmed we needed a booth. Upon arrival we were directed to a regular 4 Top passing by an empty booth. Were told that the booth was for people at the bar waiting for a booth even though we previously confirmed our request for a booth. Oh well, specific requests are not always guaranteed but should be honored over walk-in customers. Service this evening was very good at the start. As a side note, the 4 of us were constantly bothered by flying insects. After our initial drink order was delivered and 10 minutes into enjoying drinks and discussions I was swatting insects and knocked over my half finished cocktail. I would have expected the server to offer a refill at no charge but this was not what happened. My only option was to order a second cocktail. I decided for a glass of wine with my meal instead. Three of the 4 meals ordered were very good however my wife requested her meal to have the sauce on the side to use as desired. This did not happen and her meal was smothered with sauce creating an unsatisfactory result. Not wanting to wait for a re-do she worked as best she could around the sauce . At the end the sever was informed of this issue and said we should have pointed it,out at the get go so,as,to,make a correction but we didn't want to wait. The server did comp a glass of wine as a courtesy. Overall all was reasonably good but it could have turned out exceptionally nice if these issues were avoided from the beginning. We will return because past experiences were always great but we'll try other options in the near future. read more

We had a small after a wedding dinner. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Best food I have ever ate, service was top notch, owner was so easy to work with. Very welcoming accommodations. If you want to have a really special meal you have to try it! Devil egg appetizer and calamari was the best I have ever had. I would go back just for the Cesar salad.
