With…read moretheir vast selection of teas, coffees and vegan food - it's a great little place to grab something light in a pleasant atmosphere. I've never eaten a meal here however I've only heard good things, but what I will say is that their coffee is divine! You can choose from Italian and Colombian roast which comes in a cafetiere which keeps it fresher for longer. At the back of the shop you can find a small shop featuring clothes, jewellery, pins and many other kooky bits and bobs for reasonable prices. The teas, coffee, cakes and food are all reasonably priced too. Thoroughly recommended!

Nestled in the Cultural Quarter, it oozes intriguing art vibes with its quirky decor, vegan menu and vast array of teas and hot drinks. The staff are great, especially their amazing dress sense (not sure if they're just *that* cool or its part of a uniform?....) and the Southampton Fog I had was delicious! At the back of the cafe you'll find a funky little second hand shop, all you need to kit yourself out like a trendy staff member! And in the front they're turned the windows into exhibition booths for you to sit and have tea and watch the world go by (or be watched by the world!) This place is right up my street, if I lived in Southampton I'd definitely make it a regular haunt, and for those that are thinking of visiting this port city of recommended heading there as soon as you get off the train!

But, the starter I had was rather lacklustre - I had the crispy duck pancakes. The crispy duck was so overcooked that I couldn't bite into it, it was that tough. The entree (mains) was pretty good, for the most part. It was a Sunday Roast, so we had our choice of various types of proteins (the sides were the same for each dish though - mashed squash, parsnip, broccoli, boiled potatoes & a yorkshire pudding .. oh and an ocean of gravy) - pork, beef, chicken fish or vegetarian nut-loaf. I had the pork roast and though the meat was cooked quite well, I was very underwhelmed with the pork crackling provided. I had an itty-bitty square of pork crackling, it was so miniscule that it just wasn't worth it. Because we were a fairly largish group (10 adults, 2 kids) the service was a tad slow between courses. And for the mains the 2 kids were served last. Generally this isn't a good idea, as kids can get rather cranky if not fed, but thankfully the kids this time round were pretty good, nibbling other people's food until their actual meals came out. Overall the place is pretty good, price was very decent and the service was rather pleasant. I would like to come back one more time, not on a Sunday, to see what they are like. I really wanted their Beef Bourguignon, but sadly it was unavailable on a Sunday.

Parts of the meal were fantastic, a few were just good, but the combination with the atmosphere and good service earned five stars. My favorite part of the meal was the eggs from the snacks section (I forgot the name, but their equivalent of scotch eggs). The porchetta was also excellent, with a lot of crackling. Don't miss the onion straws, they were addictive. I was disappointed in the mozzarella with beetroot, way too much beetroot that overpowered the dish. Overall, though, a great experience and i plan to return with my family.

My dinner was exquisite - I ate on the later side after one or two pre-dinner drinks and ample time to review the menu. I wasn't as fond of the Saddleback Crackling pig skin with applesauce - this was too crispy for my liking. The first few bites I was afraid to crack a tooth. The slow cooked Lamb belly was out of this world. Service was very good given how busy the restaurant was. Best of all I spent the night in a charming room and enjoyed a lovely breakfast the next morning. Such a wonderful, charming placed to escape in the New Forest.

Usually I'd prefer something quieter but I was visiting a friend and anywhere we would go would be loud because it was simply a busy night in the city due to the game. The curry was not too spicy which was a relief.

I was a bit afraid to try as we were worried about recipe adjustments for an English palate. We were not disappointed. The spicy beef patties, made locally (the Brits make amazing pastry) were spicy and delicious. I often say you can judge a restaurant by their side dishes. If they take their time there, then the main dishes must be good. This was true here. The plantains were ripe and sweet. The coconut rice and peas was yummy, but missing peas. The tender jerk chicken was properly cooked over charcoal and the sauce was perfect. It's late 2-for-1 happy hour from 9:30 - midnight! They also make their own ginger beer. Bronwyn is a delightful waitress. Definitely recommend.
