There were a few hikers there, but otherwise mostly those preparing to fish. We didn't visit the camping section, but they've got a decent sized day-use area with a good amount of parking, tables, and restrooms. We took the forest loop trail that leads from the lake along the stream through the forest and back around to the day-use, about 2 1/2 miles. There are sections of the trail that are simply gorgeous, and other parts not quite as pretty. But the trail is pretty fun, ups and downs, winding with steps and bridges. While the path is completely passable right now, it was very muddy in many places. A bit precarious at times, as some of the soupiest, slickest spots happened to be on inclines and declines. You'll definitely need waterproof shoes and prepare to get dirty, but Sylvia is good for a quick hike. They've got some interesting educational info along the trail too...and the lake has a very peaceful feeling.

I see lots of them) Also a group camping site that is at the top of a hill and looks down at the water. Easily fits 8-10 tents and has a covered shelter ! Perfect for a family reunion camping trip and honestly a beautiful place to even consider as a wedding venue.

What I appreciate most is how welcoming and unpretentious it is. You'll see families, and visitors all sharing the space respectfully. It's a great spot to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with nature without feeling crowded or commercialized. There are 18 RV sites with water and electrical hookups. The campground is nestled between a river and a lake, offering a scenic and serene setting. A trail loops around the lake, and I really enjoyed taking peaceful walks there with my pup.

Lake Quinault is located at the southern edge of Olympic National within Quinault Valley. The lake has a surface area of approximately 3,550 acres (5.83 square miles) and receives 131 inches of precipitation per year. If you want to explore this area in depth, you can take the 30-mile scenic loop drive around the lake. There is both hiking and fishing at the lake with a permit. You can also camp at some nearby places. I was able to get a hotel at Rain Forest Resort Village. It is within walking distance of Lake Quinault and offers a balcony view of the lake from your room. I enjoyed watching both the sunset and sunrise while I was here. The calm waters with the reflection of the low clouds made it such a picturesque lake. I highly recommend checking out the Quinault Rain Forest and many of the nature trails around here. Near the lake is a short trail to the World's Largest Sitka Spruce. Lake Quinault is owned by the Quinault Indian Nation.

Found this gem of a cove on Apple Maps and decided to check it out even though I couldn't find any…read morereviews or pictures. Glad we did! We were greeted with a drivable/walkable path of unsprayed and ripe for the picking blackberries We wandered through some forest up a grassy driveway with no signs that led us back up and around the way we came in, eventually. We spent a good 45 mins picking blackberries and didn't even hit all the bushes. Then we chose one of two ways to get down to the lake. The first way looked easier but we chose the way off to the right; the small skinnier and slightly more difficult looking trek. After a few minutes of walking down hill (not too steep, our 9 year old did just fine), we came to the ladder you can see in the pics I posted which leads down to the water. Very sturdy and has a strong rope to help support you. The cove was cool to explore with lots of shells and rocks. I'd come back again.

Once close to the bottom, you will need to navigate down a rope to access the water area, there is no ladder as seen in the posted photos. I would advise not continuing straight on the original path as it is rather short and will lead you onto someone else's property area with no boundary or warning signs. I'd find another park or area as this one is more of a locals only feel.

The only sections open for winter were the small section we stayed in and the open field area. Unfortunately for us, the sections closed for the season were the prettiest...much more treed and private feeling there. We enjoyed one hike, the boardwalk-old growth-orchard sections and back to the campground. Apparently there is some damage to parts of the trail system here, but those we took were in good shape, just a bit muddy. Although we didn't get around to the lake, it looked gorgeous when we passed by driving in. Aside from the site across from ours after the teens left that morning, the grounds were all very clean. Pretty area and park...although I probably would only return if I could stay in the closed sections. :)

Moving to Olympia, I was near none of that. So how cool was it to discover we lived almost around the corner from a nice park that has access to a lake where you can rent kayaks and duck boats or swim in the lake. Yes, after a couple months of summer, the water is a little gross from all the lie bottom being stirred up and mixing with the sunscreen and people soup, but if you want to get a cool dip on a hot day, it's nice (just don't dip your head into the water). Lots of picnic tables, but they do run out on weekends, so when we want to go we bring our own tables and can park it underneath the forest shade). On the first lake side parking lot when you come in, you're close to a place that serves beer and pizza. Halfway down in the next parking lot, you're near the place that sells nachos and ice cream. The parking is limited to the point that on the busiest summer days, they have to refuse entry and tell you to come back in the afternoon. For all the problems, it's a good park and one of our favorite places to hang out with our dogs.

There are two pieces to Loomis Lake Park - there is the freshwater lake with a small boat launch on…read morethe east side of Pacific Hwy, and the State Park proper a little south and on the west side of the hwy. The Park provides access to the pacific ocean beaches. Loomis Lake itself was a great place to kick in a couple of kayaks and spend the morning enjoying the scenerey. We fished one day a caught a few nice size trout (late July) which was a nice surprise. Fishing from shore is not a good option here. Loomis Lake opens the last Saturday in April through October 31st. This shallow and weedy lake provides fair fishing for largemouth bass and yellow perch. It receives rainbow trout plants prior to opening day. The WDFW access provides a gravel boat launch and a ADA acessible vault toilet. The launch site is shallow and difficult for trailered boats. A boat/fishing dock constructed with RCO funds was badly damaged by storms in 2005 and again in 2006 and has since been removed.

This is a nice campground to stay along the Quinault Lake. The location is great- right along the…read morelake, with some sites having a view of the water. You can walk along local trails right from the campground, and you can walk over to the Visitor Center, museum, and lodge. The sites are spacious, with picnic tables and fire rings. The bathrooms were large and clean and included showers. The location of your site is important here. Some are along the lake shore, while others are right along the roads in camp. We had a "walk in" campsite, which was a decent walk away from the main part of camp. It also intersected with another trail, so sometimes random people were walking around lost. Stay here if you can get a waterfront site and choose carefully!

Great location for camping on the lake. But the men's bathroom has been broken for two years now…read moreand the porta potty they have to replace us is pretty much full to the brim and reaks! Beware! (They claim all money goes to keeping up property but that doesnt show) We stayed at site 22. Said it held 8 people. Not sure how! We barely fit two small tents and one was placed right next to out car. But again the location right next to the lake is great. And there are a few sites right on the lake!
