My family rents a space in their marina for a decent price. The spot is pretty tight to get in and out. The front gate and bathrooms have a lock on them and they are supposed to change the code every month and email you the updated code...except that they don't. Tonight we were out on our boat late, packed up only to find that we couldn't get out the front gate. There is a sign on the gate instructing to call 911 to get out. We actually had to call 911 to get out?! I don't understand how the sheriff puts up with that arrangement. What an abuse of 911. The guy who came to let us out said it happens quite frequently. I'm not sure I would rent here again. read more

If I could give them 10 stars I would. George the shop supervisor, lead mechanic, and all around one man show took it upon himself to make sure our ailing boat was fixed for our family vacation! He even stayed well past closing time to make sure the repairs got done that day. We came for a one week family vacation with a "new to us" boat that was having maintenance issues. I thought I could trouble shoot them, but the boat just had no power. I spoke to George at the boat ramp of Lake Anna Marina and he told me he could take a look. After a some initial diagnosis he was able to determine and explain to me the issues with my boat and how they could be repaired. When it came to closing time I went back to the marina only to find him still hard at work and saying that he would stay until the job was done. My family and I couldn't have been more grateful. The boat ran great (best is has run for us since we have had it) during the test drive and we are excited to enjoy the rest of our vacation thanks to George and Lake Anna Marina Thank you Will Johnson and Family P.S. we plan on cross posting this on Google and other review sites. read more

Let me start out by saying that I would love to have been able to give Lake Anna Marina a five-star rating, but that ship has sailed. Pun intended. Last winter, we had Lake Anna Marina pull our pontoon boat for winterization and storage. They seemed like lovely people. They arrived on time as scheduled, pulled the boat, and did the work. GREAT!! Or so it seemed. In the spring when they brought the boat back, they failed to lower the Bimini top for transport. In delivering the boat, their driver clipped the corner of a structure in the parking lot of our marina and ripped the Bimini off, destroying the side of the boat. He was sincerely apologetic, but that didn't change that the boat would require an extensive repair (turns out that it was more than $10K). It would also take approximately two months (at least) to get the repair parts from the manufacturer. The boat went back to Lake Anna Marina so that they could estimate the damage. It was still useable (although dented and without a Bimini top) and we requested that they bring it back to our marina so that we could at least enjoy some time on the water. There was a question of whether Lake Anna would go through their insurance company or not. They finally decided that they would run it through insurance. They brought it back, but not without a lot of back-and-forth. Rosie (the owner) required us to sign a waiver of liability, which we did under duress. Interestingly, she was initially willing to allow us to use the boat in their lake (Lake Anna) versus our lake (Lake of the Woods) while waiting for the repair. After approximately two months, the parts arrived and they came back to pick it up and perform the repairs. They did, in fact, do most of the repairs, although there were parts out of alignment (gates) and we had to replace the clips that hold the Bimini in place because they installed them incorrectly (crooked and unusable). We also had to remind them to fix the depth-finder, which had been ripped off in transport. When they "finished" the repairs, there were a couple of items outstanding. One was the decal down the side of the boat. Either Lake Anna Marina ordered the wrong decal (for the wrong side of the boat) or Sylvan made a mistake and sent the wrong one. Either way, the boat came back to us without the decal and with the understanding that, when they pulled our boat for winterization and storage in the fall, they would complete the outstanding items. On top of that, they CHARGED US $250 to pull and deliver the boat for the repair. A repair that was caused by THEIR negligence. Fast forward to November when we tried to schedule getting our boat pulled for the winter. All of a sudden, there was nobody available to pick it up. Sadly, there were some family crises and we tried to be respectful of that. But it seems that every time we called, we got a different run around. First there was nobody there to take the call from service. Then there was nobody there who could drive the truck. It was always, "I'll ask Rosie what we can do," but nothing materialized. The final straw was today when Rosie told my husband that we were out of luck and that they are closing for the season TOMORROW, so they can't store, winterize, pick up the boat. She asked why we didn't "just use [another business]". Well, we contracted with HER to do the work. Funny how they waited until they sucked that $250 out of our wallet to let us know they really don't want to do business with us. One of the things that really sticks with me was that Rosie (supposedly such a good Christian) told my husband, "I can talk to God and know I did everything I can for you." Um...no...I'm not quite sure what Jesus would do, but it's probably not that. Rosie and her crew are lying manipulators who would just love to skirt the system. When THEY damaged our boat, it should have been cut-and-dried, but she tried her best to weasel her way out of responsibility. In the end, she didn't do anything but make our life difficult through lying, conniving, and stalling until it was too late to do anything. I wouldn't do business with Lake Anna Marina if they were the last people on earth. Merry Christmas Rosie. I hope you feel really good about yourself. read more

Came here on my friend's boat and it was a wonderful day out! Not sure how it is for those who have to rent a boat and there isn't much right around it, but it's fun if you have your own boat docked and want a day in the sun! Water is nice to go for a swim and we attached a tube to our boat in order to partake in some tubing action! Fun lake...and this marina wasn't too crowded! read more

Completed my jet ski repair on Memorial Day weekend last second when all the seadoo dealers were a week out! I can't thank you guys enough for helping me recover from my rookie mistake!! Even went out of the way to send me to a local performance repair/ parts place to get a great used impeller so the repair would be done quickly! read more

If you need boat service look elsewhere. My boat was damaged while in their care for service and they tried to blame me for it. Additionally, they had installed new livewell and bilge pumps on my boat and did not tighten clamps - almost sunk in the Chesapeake Bay with water filling bilge just below battery terminals from leaky hose with clamp not tightened at all. I got here today (7/5/2915) at 2:30 pm with my wife. We walked into office and asked the lady there if we could rent a boat and she shrugged and went, "mm, mm, mm. Not this time. We charge $200 for half a day and it is ridiculous for me to rent you a boat to bring back 4:30 pm because we close at 5 pm. I got surprised by this business attitude. All I needed was two hours. So who is this person to assume what I can afford for what amount of time. If these people want to rent boats, just rent the freakin' boat and don't give customers BS. read more

Very unhappy with the service department. We have had our pontoon boat in there for the same issue three times, and they still have not fixed it. Their inability to properly diagnose the problem has caused us to be stranded in the middle of the lake several times. We have also had many weekends at the lake with guests ruined, as we could not take our guests out on the water. We have been charged twice, and yet I am still unable to use my boat reliably for the past year. The boat was purchased at this marina. Based on the service after the sale, I would not buy another boat from them, nor would I bring another boat to them for service. At this point I have no choice but to see this repair through. For the past couple of weeks nobody was answering their phone. Yesterday they answered the phone, but nobody from service was in. I am very disappointed with this business. read more

Absolutely the worst run marina. Do not be taken by the low slip fees and maintenance. Employees here can't stand working here and it shows with their customer service. The parts and service department is completely disorganized and the owner has no interest in this business or her customers satisfaction. I have taken my jet skis the past 2 years to be winterized at Lake Anna Marina and was satisfied with the work and price (only about $150 each). I recently asked them to recarpet the jet ski bunks, reattach the wood for one and flip one of the bunks. I was expecting a bill of maybe $150-$200, but it was three times that. They charge $89 for labor no matter what the job and said it took them 6 hours to do the above. Two of those hours were taking the jet skis on and off the trailer, which is ridiculous because it takes me at most 10 minutes to take them off myself. $89 is understandable for a mechanic having to work on the jet skis, but anyone can recarpet bunks and that is a ridiculous price to do that. Needless to say they have now lost my future business and will hopefully prevent others from falling in their trap like I did. read more

I rented a boat from here and was already a little leery that they weren't one of the recommended marina's from lakeannaonline.com. But no other marina had boats available. I got there and had to sign all of the waivers. I kept having to initial things like, "Lake Anna Marina has informed me of all local waterway laws," etc. So I asked the girl at the counter if she could explain the items that it said had to be explained before I initialed the waiver (I have never driven a boat and never been on one in VA). She got very flustered and said that she didn't know anything about it and that the guys outside were experts and would explain it to me. So I initialed all of the statements and went outside. There, the deck hand gave us the boat. He showed us how to turn it on and off. I asked other questions about operating the boat and the rules of the lake, what time the boat had to be returned, and some other normal questions. He responded with, "I don't know much about boats. All I know about the lake is that it's big and has lots of fish in it." That's coming from the only deck hand available at a marina. He also didn't know what time the boat was due back at. After the boat stalling a few times we got it out of the marina. Then we realized that the CD player didn't work. We decided we wanted to go to an island and poke around. We went to anchor and realized the anchor was tied to a 3 ft long string so it was pretty much useless. So we went to get rope to tie the boat to a tree - no rope other than the short piece tied to the anchor. Plus, the boat was not very nice. Which I would have expected except that I rented their most expensive "top of the line" pontoon boat. Then when I returned the boat the same deck hand was there. I asked him what I had to do to wrap up the trip (get a receipt, pay for gas, etc). He said nothing, that we were all set. I didn't think that sounded right so I asked another woman nearby who looked like she worked there. She immediately started being snippy and ordering me around like I was a child. It turned out that this is the lady in charge of the Marina It turned out we did have to go pay for gas and she ordered us to carry the life preservers into the building (seems like that is a deck hand thing to do, but I wouldn't have minded if she told me nicely instead of barked it at me). When I was picking up the preservers the deck hand said he forgot about paying for gas but then said that we didn't have to pay for oil. Once we got inside the buiding they charged us for gas and oil, it was $48. I said that the deck hand said that we didn't have to pay for it. The cashier (the one that didnt know any boating rules) asked the woman who had been rude. She replied "you have to pay. Doug (the deck hand) doesn't know what he is talking about." Now, if this guy is your employee, isn't it your fault that he doesn't know what he is talking about? And shouldn't you say something like, "I'm sorry that you were misinformed, but it is our policy that you pay for oil" or something else that is vaguely professional. After telling the cashier that she was correct and we did have to pay for oil, she typed some things into the register and our total changed to $35. I asked why, she was flustered and didn't know. Overall I would never want any of my $ to go to that terrible woman's business. She was incredibly rude and obviously has no clue how to train employees or treat customers. Honestly, I should have given it one star, but that deck hand was a really nice guy and provided us with some laughs (despite the fact that he was no help). read more

12/6/15 - HORRIABLE REPAIR SERVICE !!!! They don't know what they are doing. Had boat and motor for Several Months and couldn't fix an idle problem. "George" their chief mechanic has not been to ANY of Nissan's outboard schools or courses (according to Nissan), yet they advertise as a Nissan Authorized Service Center. "Dave" the service manager acknowledged they had not properly repaired it, (excessive smoking, gas in exhaust, idle way too high), after the 3rd attempt, yet still charged almost $ 400 !!! Very Poor customer service and work ethics. (They also remove customer's honest Yelp Reviews that are not favorable.) Do your research. Ask to see current certification(s) & check with corporate before they work on your motor's brand. Nissan corporate in Texas very helpful and provided a new carb free of charge. They recommended another dealer with proven commitment to education and service and was both TLDC and BFD certified through Nissan. Motor now runs a lot better. read more

Nice people. Found answers for me when they didn't know and made me feel like they care. I've rented a boat before and virginia's rules are an overload but keep's us safe. Whatever. The process is a little long but there is a picture book a kid could understand. No probs there. Since then have my own boat. Love it. Kids love it too. Called them on a Friday morning about renting a pontoon. The lady was friendly and gave me all the information. I came in at noon for a half day rental. They signed me in, quickly worked through the paperwork, walked me through an inspection of the boat, and had me on my way. Their facilities were a little dated, but the staff was friendly and the store had everything I needed. The pontoon was fine. Not brand new, but fully functional, except no radio (faceplate had been stolen). Their good customer service is what garnered the 4 rating. read more

We were planning to put in at Lake Anna Marina and spend the day on their private beach. We even called ahead to make sure they were open and asked what their pet policy was, the lady laughed and said "Dogs! Dogs are running all around here you won't be able to keep up with yours!" So we decided it would be nice to bring Macy(our dog) along. We got there and paid the ramp fee, as well as the private beach fee. The lady noticed my son with the dog and said "You aren't bringing that dog on the beach are you?" He of course said yes and explained we called ahead and asked. She said "Yeah pets are allowed, just not on the beach." What heck did she think we were asking about the parking lot! Now we have our dog with us on a hot afternoon and nowhere to keep her. They did not care. No understanding or sympathy. The lady that had mislead us about the policy was there and admitted to telling my wife that she had said, " Dogs are running all around here......", but didn't know my wife was asking about the beach. We did receive a refund for everything but the ramp fee(we had already put in) Luckily Judy at Duke's Creek Marina allowed pets and felt compassion for our situation and let us use an open campsite and their marina and only charged us a parking and ramp fee! read more
