Jed is a rare gem of a boat broker. We were looking to buy our 1st boat and were clearly boating newbies. We met him at a boat show and he set aside time the following weekend to show us a few used boats that interested us. Jed was affable, knowledgeable, and amazing at communication. He kept in close touch as boats came up, explained things simply, and was always quick to reply. What blew us away, though, was how he took the time to not just show us boats, but help orient us to boating, the Potomac, and the boating lifestyle. Sadly, the boat that met our needs was listed by a different brokerage with a broker who ended up being a nightmare to work with. The 9/11 fireworks were last night. We had 2 boats with 6 people each and wanted to watch the show. However, we got to the marina and docked our two boats on the end of the dock. We were "greeted" by a security guard who informed us of the "private Marina" and that we were not welcome; on 9/11. They actually did us a favor (as far as the view is concerned), however, we were were totally incensed at the rudeness of the staff AND boaters of Prince William Marina. Buyers beware. If you are a somewhat new or naive boat buyer and are impressed by a big, resourceful, dealership that have free hats, free coozies and a pool, this is your place. Used boat price was ok, but boat failed sea trial for mercruiser overheating issues. could not convince the company to even retest and coroberate, with a mechanic, at speed, underway. Reason: no overheating issues found (on the trailer) Excuse: wake zone takes too long to traverse on the way to open water for test. I know what risers and manifolds or impellers cost so I figured that into my decision. Nice boat. I was a long time customer of Prince William Marina. I bought my boat through them and kept it at the marina for over 15 years. Just recently sold it and am now 'between boats...' I have nothing but praise for the team at Prince William. They are professional and prompt with everything. The boatel experience is the best way to do your boating on the Potomac. The boat is high and dry when you are not using it, but is always in the water, fueled and ready to go when you want it. Boats stored in a boatel retain their resale value because they just do not age! They are not sun damaged, they do not get marine growth, they do not get vandalized... It is the best way to protect your investment. The marina has a great clientel and local yacht club. They have a heated pool for customers and it is open longer than your neighborhood pool - it is a great place to hang out and meet new friends when you can't or don't want to be out on the hook. The restaurant at Prince William is only okay - Honestly though, I have found that all the waterfront restaurants on the Potomac are lacking - between no real winter business and no real weekday business during the season, none of them can retain quality chiefs or wait staff. But you can get a decent burger and fries here - about all you would expect or need after a day on the water. The bar is lively with a full band schedule. It has a regular crowd that can be a bit sketch at times. Lots of nice Harley's in the parking lot next to the BMW's and SUV's if you are into the biker crowd. But it is generally a pleasant mix of people and I've never heard of any problems. Boating is not cheap - looking at some of the reviews, it seems that other reviewers may have had different expectations. PW Marine's service department does have high rates, but they are in the normal range for waterfront repair yards. The quality of their work is OUTSTANDING. You get what you pay for. I'll definitely be back when I'm ready for my next (bigger) boat... Thank you PW Marine for helping with all the great boating memories we have! read more
