I capsized my old Y Flyer and really lost a lot of the confidence I once had. I wasn't able to fully enjoy sailing any more and my confidence was shaken. In steps my dad who gifted me sailing classes. I chose Sunrise because of their reviews and the fact that the classes were small. In fact, my course was one-on-one. John was extremely patient with me, and over the 2 days of lessons, really brought back my confidence. He is an excellent instructor who doesn't just spout facts or instructions. He used the experiences on the lake to teach, which helped me remember the lessons. I like to learn the "why" not just the "how to," and that is what John taught me. Now that I know why things have to be done certain ways, it made sense and was easier to remember. I also experienced 2 different boats. Each of these boats were outfitted with accessories that I don't have on my boat and was considering purchasing. I even thought I wanted a wheel instead of a tiller. Joke was on me! It was nice to use these tools to learn on and be able to make an informed decision on considering them to boat on my boat. Today we sailed in some pretty intense wind and my uneasiness with heeling in high winds gave way to pure exhilaration. I am so excited about my sailing adventures and feel a lot more confident in my skills and knowledge. I booked about a month in advance for rental on Saturday from 11am-7pm. My rental for a 12 seater was $484 after taxes and fees and then $13 for gas at the end. The boat was large with half shaded and half in the sun. There was ample storage space for coolers and personal items. There's also a Bluetooth speaker that worked perfectly that we used to play music all day. Be sure to bring a cooler, trash bags, and a phone charger. They came in handy! They also have half day rentals and lower fares during off season. Be sure to take the online safety course before you arrive so you can do a quick safety review and boat walk through(we videotaped ours) before heading out. The staff were very helpful for any questions or suggestions on where to go.

There is adequate parking in front of the clubhouse and a bag drop is provided. The clubhouse was nice and the men's locker room was impressive. The driving range has a sufficient number of hitting areas and the practice putting green is very large. As I played the course in late fall, the practice facilities showed their wear from a season of use. Still, the conditions were acceptable. The practice area includes a dedicated area for bunker practice and pitching practice. While many course have a practice bunker, few have their practice facilities set up well for hitting pitch shots like Currahee Club does. One drawback to the layout is that the bunker sits between the hitting area for pitches and the green, so some coordination and care is necessary if more than a few of people are using the bunker and pitching practice area. There is a refreshment shack located at the driving range where food and drink can be purchased. Next to it is an outdoor seating area for anyone wishing to take in the view of the scenery or simply take a break from practicing. Golfers pass by this refreshment shack when going from 9th green to 10th tee. Electric golf carts were provided. As a practical matter, this course is not walkable. The green-to-tee distances are all long to very long. Many of the tee-to-fairway distances are also long. There are five sets of tees with the scorecard course lengths ranging from 5,051 to 7,394 yards. The course and slope ratings for men range from 65.9/122 to 76.1/151. This course is as difficult as the course and slope ratings indicate. The combination of forced carries, undulating terrain, large elevation changes, mounding, and minimum off-fairway forgiveness make it easy to get in trouble and stay in it. Come prepared to play or prepared to take a lot of drops and forget the scorecard. The course itself features elevation changes ranging from the small to the massive, as is to be expected at a mountain course. Most holes will have a notable uphill or downhill component with a few playing both uphill and downhill. There are a few holes that are relatively level. As is also typical of mountain courses, there are many long forced carries off the tee, particularly from the back tees. The fairway width typically ranges from wide to very wide, though there are a handful of holes where the fairway is of modest width. Generally, there is little margin for error if the fairway is missed. Some holes do have a fair amount of clean rough between the fairway and the woods or brush, but many holes have little to none. Balls landing in the woods or brush have a very high chance of being lost. On a few holes, out of bounds is located very close to the edge of the fairway. The fairways are undulating and peppered with mounds and large slopes, with most fairways throw in a fairway bunker or two for good measure. On most holes, the direction of play from tee to green is obvious. There are one or two holes with a blind tee shot. There are a few holes where the second shot may be a blind shot depending on where the tee shot comes to rest. On a few holes the direction of play from tee to green is unclear when in the tee box, though the landing area for the tee shot is visible. While there are some water hazards on the course, there are only a few holes where water hazards are a major factor. The greens are very large and well guarded with bunkers and mounding. Many greens are situated well above the fairway, requiring an extra club or two for the distance. The greens have a lot of slope and undulations. Some of the greens with larger slopes make it difficult to stop the ball near the hole if you are on the "wrong side" of the slope. The bottom of some of the green-side bunkers is well below the surface of the green, perhaps 15 feet, if not more. Surprisingly, the course only has a few holes with really good views of the surrounding area. Most of the time your view is blocked by trees. The back tees have the best views by far. If you are playing from one of the forward tees, be sure to take in the view as you pass by the back tees and be ready to stop and snap a photo when a good view appears. A couple of the fairways offer good views as well. You'll want your camera (and nerves) ready at the par 3 #17. My overall rating is 4* because the course had some rough spots on it. I saw a couple of tee boxes that I'd expect to see at 2* course and a few greens with conditioning closer to what I see at a 3* course. The fairway conditioning was close to 5*. Perhaps due to the inclement weather the day I played, the bunkers had not been raked by the course staff and in a few of the bunkers the previous golfers had not raked their own footprints smooth. Overall, I would play this course again and recommend the course to other golfers.

The cabin was a VRBO (vacation rental by owner), which I had found by Googling cabins in Helen. The cabin we stayed at was dubbed "The Lodge at Whitetail Hollow." I'm not sure why the owner called it that and neither did the guard at the guardhouse. It was a nice cabin that had 3 levels. It had 4 bedrooms. Since we had a group of 10 (5 couples), the 5th couple slept on a pull-out futon. Linens and towels were provided for 10 as well as a starter set of toiletries, trash bags, etc. The cabin looked to be of relatively recent construction and appeared to be in good shape overall. There were little things like a light bulb missing by the hot tub or some worn out dining room chairs, but that was about it. An adequate amount of cookware and dishware/silverware was provided. Cable TV (only one flatscreen TV -- the rest were old school tube TVs), landline telephone, and DSL Wi-Fi Internet were also provided. The landline telephone proved useful at one point because cell phone reception was poor at the resort. The cabin had many large windows to take in views of the outside. There were also balconies/porches on all three levels. The views consisted mainly of the forest and one of the holes of the golf course below. In the mornings, I could hear golfers teeing off. It made me want to get out there. The Innsbruck Resort is a secured, gated community with a 24/7 staffed guardhouse. Only members and their guests are allowed inside. The resort is located on a mountain, so the roads are very steep and curvy. At night, it can be hard to see because there is no street lighting and there might be fog, which exacerbates the already low visibility. Houses in the resort seemed fairly sprawled out. The other houses I saw looked nice. Anyone staying at the resort, even if the cabin is a rental, is allowed to play the golf course and use the facilities, such as the pool, as if they are a member. This means golfers get to play the course at the member rate. I had no problems in my interactions with the cabin owner, Kate. Email was our primary method of communication and she was responsive. The total cost of our stay for 10 people (+ a pet/dog) for 2 nights was only $450, including cleaning fees. Generally, I was satisfied with our stay.

Our cabin was hard to find because the numbers were not visible. However, once we found the cabin, we enjoyed our stay. They are a gated community. You have to pass the guard when you first arrive. If you made your reservation, all you have to do is tell the guard your name. Then he gives you a car pass that allows you to get in and out of the resort. Our cabin looked nice. 8-10 people could comfortably stay and sleep here. They supplied us with a few TVs, an old school X-Box, a bunch of board games, and couple discs of Christmas music CDs. The cabin supplied the basics. But they gave barely enough. For example, they had 1 roll of toilet paper in each bathroom. I suggest bringing some more toilet paper. The bathrooms had no toothpaste, handsoap, shampoo, etc. So make sure to bring those. In fact, I suggest you bring all your toiletries. Bring extra towels too, especially if you plan to stay long or use the hot tub. Speaking of the hot tub, even though the cabin could fit 8-10 people. The hot tub can only fit about 6 people comfortably. 8 got a bit crowded. But in our cabin, the hot tub was located outside and felt nice. A few other nitpicks I have are my bedroom door never shut all the way and there was a nail sticking up on the stairs. I would always stab my foot stepping on that nail. They should hammer it down. Other than those inconveniences, it was a nice, clean cabin. They have wireless internet and a landline phone. And a cabin trip always depends on the company you are with. I had a good experience here so I'll give it 4 stars.
