If you don't own your own boat, you couldn't do better than Stephanie at Jocassee Keowee Rentals. We knew we wanted to rent a boat for at least one of our days at Devil's Fork State Park and researched several of the other area companies. We chose Stephanie and JKR because she had the best value. In fact, because her prices were so reasonable, we were able to rent for two days for not much more than one day would have cost with the other providers. Stephanie's commitment to customer service was also great. Since we were renting for two consecutive days, she allowed us to leave our ice chests and fishing gear on the boat overnight, even providing us with a locking cable to secure our ice chest. We have 2 adult children and one 12 year old; when I picked up the boat, I described his size to her and she provided a life vest she felt would fit him. Later, we encountered her on the lake in her own boat and she swapped the vest out with another because she didn't feel it fit him perfectly. Her knowledge of the lake is also extensive, she provided us with a waterproof map and marked the best spots for photos and swimming. We were able to find them all and they were as beautiful as she described. To see someone who runs her business with such energy and joy is indeed a pleasure to see. We will definitely come back to Lake Jocassee and we will certainly call on Stephanie and Jocassee Keowee Rentals when we do.

Feeling a little worried, I reached out hoping to at least switch the paddle board to a kayak, but wanted something dog friendly too. And boy did their service go above and beyond! Not only did they give me recommendations for the dog, they also went out early to confirm conditions were safe before we headed out so we didn't waste a trip. They ended up bringing multiple options and getting us in a double kayak with room for my corgi to come along and it was the MOST beautiful day. They even refunded the difference in cost. So thankful they made my birthday kayak trip a success!

The four stars is for having to drive over a mile to get to use the facilities.

We stayed here in December 2023 from a road trip from our home state of Florida. The outdoors was so pretty and we had a great view of the forest. At first thought I thought our backyard was an icy lake, but it was so cold that it was a golf course frozen over. We definitely want to stay here again another season, possibly the fall when there are colored leaves on the trees. This resort is great for large families of 4+. We are 4 adults and stayed here very comfortably because the rooms are huge and can connect! There is a REAL fireplace in each room and the kitchen is large with all the things you need to cook, wash, etc. The rooms were also very clean. The community room is huge and real nice as well. I honestly don't have anything bad to say about the resort except that if you want to visit the lobby, you will have to drive a little. But, we didn't need to at all. AMELIA FALLS is a stunning 20' waterfall that sits on private property…read more I was making plans to hike nearby Virginia Hawkins Falls when I discovered Amelia Falls while scanning GOOGLE EARTH for nearby places of interest. A little research led me to the Facebook page of the falls where I called the owner and asked permission to come on property to see the falls. FACEBOOK PAGE: https://www.facebook.com/Amelia-Falls-1461265534108910/ I was delightfully surprised that not only was he willing to allow a strange dude from Georgia access, he also wanted to meet me there to give me a personal tour of his waterfall as well as another private waterfall owned by one of his neighbors a mile or so down the road! OUTSTANDING! He told me the waterfall and surrounding acres have been in his family since his great relatives traded Indians for it more than a century ago. It was passed on to him after a close relative retired to his heavenly home. He then spent several years getting it cleaned up from overgrowth, fallen trees and river debris. He shifted soil to create a level area for gatherings and since has hosted more than a dozen weddings and family gatherings. The waterfall is named after his mother, who in turn was named after American Aviationist Amelia Earhart (no relation). *** While this is PRIVATE PROPERTY, it is also available for private events. Their Facebook page reads as follows: "Beautiful waterfall property for outdoor weddings, receptions, picnics, barbecues, cookouts, family or school related reunions, church socials, and more. NOT (family) FRIENDLY -…read more My two children and I stopped by early because we had to use the bathroom (there is not an easy place to stop in that area). The front desk ladies would not allow us to do so, even though we were prepaid and pre-registered to check in that afternoon (we were there about two hours before our check-in time). We just wanted to use the bathroom, not check in yet. They said we'd have to pay a half-day rate ($40+) to use the toilet! After we killed time until check-in, we returned and were argued with about the key deposit and I began to cry. They could've cared less. They accused me of throwing things at them (I tossed my credit card on the desk so they could hold it instead of my $4.77 - make sure you have that $5.00 cash, boy!) and I told them, still in tears, that I'd cancel if I could. They told me "no refunds" and I walked out with them still talking about me to one another in the front office - deplorable. I cannot speak to the facilities - we didn't get that far because we were not treated well. Who doesn't even offer a mother in tears a place to sit down or a bottle of water or anything?!? I was too embarrassed and frustrated to even try to stay. I believe that kindness begets kindness and I can't say that we were shown that, so here is the review telling folks what happened. I hope this leads to some HR training for the staff and that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Please don't call yourself a family campground unless you are willing to treat people like family - that's the whole point of choosing one.

One gets to call and speak to the family to confirm that the desired site will work for specific camping (or rig) needs. Fantastic signage so everyone knows what is expected to keep the grounds in optimal shape. One of the most peaceful places we have stayed.
