Once you are ready for the ocean part of the course you'll do a weekend or two down in the Jacksonville FL area. I couldn't give Windsong Sailing a higher reccomendation! My wife and I both did our training with Windsong. I've been on 3 Charters in the BVIs since completing the ASA 101, 103, and 104 with him and have got to put his techniques for standardization and crew resource management to good use. I have yet to be the captain but have witnessed other skilled Captains make simple mistakes that would have been prevented by Dave's thorough techniques he has learned from his vast sailing experience. Dave's course is not a 0 to hero course like a week-long trip down to Florida might offer. It's a course over time that will really create a solid foundation to keep your passengers, boat, and crew safe. I'd start with a seat on a Saturday public outing and his ASA 101 ground school ASAP!

And they were such great hosts. I met a couple board members and they were very gracious. The view is outstanding from the point. Camping is encouraged and they have lots of room. Their club house if fantastic with an open floor plan, gigantic working fireplace, clean restrooms, and large screen TV that was very important on the day we were there. Football was on all day so between races(and sometimes during) we were able to keep up with out favorite games! I look forward to being there next year!

However, I finally stumbled across a place in Georgia on Lake Lanier that gets me that type of serenity I'm looking for inland. Introducing Paradise Rental Boats at Port Royale! I googled this place and found it online and after researching decided to visit here on Memorial Day weekend! They had two options even during the busy holiday weekend; a brand-new pontoon boat or a jet ski. My girlfriend and I chose the pontoon boat and decided to invite her brother. Before arriving I completed a boat readiness test which was very easy but was a requirement to rent the boat. When we pulled up to the marina I was surprised to see that it was everything I was hoping for! There was a ramp down to the rental spot and it got me in the mood for the adventure that was about to transpire. Everything was clean and all the staff was dressed in matching uniforms and they explained everything in detail that left me with no confusion. The boat was brand new and have a great stereo on it! We chose to rent the pontoon boat for four hours and drove all the way out to Sunset Cove where there were many boats and lots of partying going on! We cruised around throughout the boats and felt fancy for a bit lol. After returning there was a really cool tiki hut bar and outdoor restaurant! Total cost for the boat rental was $266 which we split three ways for four hours. We had to fill up the gas tank which was only about $22. Highly, highly, highly recommend you go here and you'll probably see me out there every single weekend!

Such a pretty and relaxing park. Great spot to picnic, walk alone or with pets, kayak or spend time…read morewith kids. The main attractions here are the swings and the lake with a beautiful view. I love visiting it with my husband just before sunset. We saw so many kids playing in the spider web climbing thing and the play area. There was a birthday party going on and the park was filled with folks of all ages. Trails: A little walk on the left leads you to the dam(falls) and it's a very quiet and serene path to walk or jog. There are 2-3 trails around the park but a bit rugged, so I recommend going when there's plenty of daylight. Parking spots are plenty and the park is pet-friendly. Fun fact: Atlanta Astronomy Club conduct star gazing events at this park. Check their website for more information!

There are also kayak rentals on the river bank below. When we came we hiked the 3/4 mile looped trail behind the playground accessible from the parking lot. There was a bald eagle flying above his beat. Kayakers down below had beached themselves on a sandbar in the middle of the river. A guitarist was jamming and kids were playing in the Sun. Just a picture perfect place to relax and take in the sites.

Our tour guide told historical facts that you don't normally hear about in history classes. There were very creepy areas we went to- like a graveyard and a couple creepy houses. Since it's at night, it also leans toward the scaries. If you are looking for a possible fright (we didn't experience anything crazy like other tours have), and lots of interesting history about the town, I would definitely recommend this tour!
