You get what you pay for, I suppose! The store itself is pretty and well laid-out. There's an open plan here and it's easy to walk about and explore the various clothing racks and displays. The dressing rooms in the back looked quite nice, too. The lady who works here was very pleasant and we chatted a bit. I was surprised that they didn't have any business cards when I asked for one, though (I keep business cards for future reference, and also to help me when I write my Yelp reviews!). For the most part, though, this was a nice store to explore, with higher-end women's ware. I would definitely check back here if I lived nearby to see when items went on sale.

It's sort of like if Lowe's, Home Depot, Bass Pro, Tractor Supply, your favorite fly fishing shop we're all rolled into one store, with only the best parts manifested in the aisles. And that's to say nothing of the saddlery, garden center, farm supply, and livestock sections, to name a few. The service here from every member of the staff borders on annoying, but in the most positive way... Everyone on the floor, asks you if you need assistance, but they don't pester you. One of them I've ever connected with is knowledgeable, and willing to go the extra mile to not only make the sale, but make you happy about it. On a recent trip, my son popped a hole in his waders-- not a great thing when you're standing waste deep in 30° alkaline water. The gentleman and the fly shop went out of his way to help us find a pair that fit him, and honored the clearance sale price to get him a $400 pair of waiters for under 70 bucks. More recently, the same kid a year older needed a pair of gloves to endure an unseasonable cold spell that had hit the area. One of the nice gals on the floor, explained that they were switching over to spring, but went out of her way to help him find an inexpensive pair of gloves to keep on fishing. Incredible selection, nothing locked up behind security glass like we have in Los Angeles County, and did I mention the cute little baby chicks of every variety? They don't travel on the airplane very well, but if I had a piece of land up there, I'd have chickens all over it because of this place. Hands-down, this is the best outfitter store I've ever visited, and that's saying something. We visit Mac once a year for Fishing, and no trip is complete without at least a few stops at North 40. We may not be frequent visitors, but we're customers for life.

Even put together an extra one for me so I had two choices of bikes. They let us do a have day instead of a whole day . They let us keep a change of clothes there. They we so helpful and friendly. We will definitely do that again. So much fun and they made it easy. Since we were able to do a half day it was cheaper then the other place we checked.

Well, that's the feeling I got when I visited Winthrop Mountain Sports during the recent Winthrop Quilt Roundup. I had never visited before, but it was a stop on the event passport so I popped in. Wow, what a GREAT place! First of all, they have way more than backpacking equipment. From stylish outdoorsy clothes to all sorts of hats, gloves, shoes, water bottles, and other must-have PNW-esque accessories, I could easily have outfitted myself for everything from a day hike up the Methow to an expedition down the PCT. They are also dog-friendly, allowing my friend's dog to wander the store with us (and even sneaking him a treat from behind the counter). Even if you're not outdoorsy, there's something you need in this shop. I ended up buying some road trip snacks for the journey home.
