Josh was absolutely great the entire time and really helped me get a deal on my car. very happy with his help. recently my car's electronic system wasn't correlating when i would put my car into park. it would ding stating i needed to put it into park when it was. I went in and got one part fixed and was told if it continues that they would just fix the whole shifter. i was also told my warranty was up in 6 days and i just so happened to be going on vacation. of course i get back from vacation and my car starts to do the same thing again. upon calling the main service area, i was told there was nothing they could do as my warranty was up. i eventually was able to talk to the service manager, nick. he was understanding about the situation and worked it out for it to be under my warranty and fixed the car for free. *For context, the review is specifically for the Collision Repair Center -- The sales team gets a 5/5 Stars. Matt Kreckler is phenomonal* I purchased a White Traverse on 6/16/2025. I wanted to swap out the Chrome Emblems for Black Emblems. I took the vehicle in on 6/23/2025 to have this done. I was called on 6/25/2025 to let me know the vehicle was ready for pickup. (see picture 1). Upon arrival, I noticed that a chip of paint was taken out, accompanied by a scuff mark from whatever tool was used to take off the chrome lettering. I proceeded to point this out the Collision Center manager, Matt Woodrum, who agreed that this had to be from them and that they'd take care of it. On 6/27/2025, Matt W reached back out to tell me it was fixed. (See picture 2). I show up, and see that it looks like they just put a blob of whiteout over the mark and wiped the scuff mark off. I did not take the vehicle and told them it was unacceptable. Matt W then told me that they didn't think it was their fault because their paint guy, with 30 years of experience, said the chip was there. (They did not take any before/after pictures). I left and said I would not pick up until it was fixed properly. On 6/30/25 I was told it was fixed for the 2nd time (see picture 3). This was again, just a smoother glob of white paint that was very noticeable. I again did not take the vehicle because this was ridiculous. On top of the fact this is not the 3rd time attempting to pick up this vehicle and the Collision Center manager Matt quality checked and OK'd this 3 times to this point. Fast forward to me having to CC their location manager to actually get something done and they wound up having to repaint the entire back end of the vehicle to make it right. I would never in a million years take my car for any body repairs to Lake Chevy. If you want to buy a vehicle, that's one thing and I would HIGHLY recommend Matt Kreckler. I almost never leave reviews, but this experience was unreal. I brought my vehicle to Lake Chevrolet for a repair and paid around $1,500. Before dropping it off, the car started. i was bringing it in for an unfinished repair (so it didn't at the time of bringing) but has been a great daily driver every single time. After their work, I was handed back a vehicle that would not start at all -- just a single click. Instead of taking responsibility, they immediately tried to blame: * a starter that was replaced two months ago (ACDelco), * and hinted at a battery issue, despite the battery being less than 6 months old. When I pushed back, I was told they would need to re-diagnose the vehicle at my expense -- for a problem that did not exist before they touched it. That's unacceptable. To make it worse, the car was clearly started, moved, and washed after the repair, yet returned to me non-operational in their parking lot. There was zero accountability, zero ownership, and a whole lot of deflection. The most embarrassing part? The issue was resolved in their parking lot, in front of them. A dealership charging dealership prices should not be returning cars that don't start, then asking customers to pay again to diagnose their own workmanship. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COST!!! Went in for oil change + tire rotation @ 7:15 am. 1 and half hour later the agent told me if I wanted a tire fix for additional $50.00 due to imbedded screw with washer on my front driver side. I immediately had a suspicion that these guys are trying to make more money out of me. I told them that there is no indication that my tire is leaking because my TPMS will tell me but the agent just didn't care. After paying the oil change and tire rotation I ask the guy if he can show me the tire and behold it was a freshly drilled screw and washer. I know it because there was no indication that the screw and washer never touched the street aside from the bay to the parking lot. I went to another tire shop and saw the difference when you hit the road the screw and washer was pretty much scratched up due to friction. May Karma **** your business big time! read more

I can't speak highly enough about my experience with this service department. My plug in hybrid failed emissions because of some electrical codes. I called and spoke to Brandon on the phone. He was so friendly, funny, and empathized with our issue, as well as frustrations with the emissions testing experience. He tried troubleshooting on the phone, but we ultimately needed to come in. We got an appointment the next day, and the car is now fixed. They even washed it, and fixed another small cosmetic issue. I highly recommend this service department! read more

During signing for a used vehicle I was given 2 key fobs. I was even told how nice it was to have 2 considering they were about $400 to get a replacement. After a few days we noticed 1 was for a completely different vehicle (same make). Contacted sales immediately and was told it would be looked into. Didn't hear back for a week, reached out again and apparently they got it that way, so nothing will be done. I know that a sudden no appointment drop off at the dealer means no guarantee that your car will be completed that day but Steve had my car done before the end of the day which was great because I have my car to drive. I really only service my cars at new car dealerships even my old collector car for factory warranty replacement parts and service. We worked with Matt (Sales Rep) and Kyle (Used Car Sales Manager) from Lake Chevy at the beginning of July to purchase two vehicles. As part of the transaction, we also traded in 3 vehicles. During the process, we were told that one of our vehicles, a work van, had a 'factory defect' meaning they would not be able to sell it on there lot and would have to wholesale it. Both Kyle and Matt were aware of what we owed on the vehicle and what we wanted to get for it. What they offered us for it, was $7,000 less than what we owed on it but Kyle was VERY insistent that it was in our best interest to just get rid of the van because of the defect. Matt and Kyle were insistent that they would NOT be able to sell it on their lot. My husband, who purchased the van from a smaller dealership in IL questioned why that dealership could but Lake Chevy could not. Matt stated they would not be able to sell it on their lot because of something to do with larger dealerships being under greater scrutiny than smaller ones in their contracts with car manufactures.(?) We ended up signing the deal, getting a lot less for the van than we owed because Manger of Lake Chevy made us feel like we had no other option. We looked on Lake Chevy's website 3 days later and what did we see? Our van! The van that they would NEVER sell on their lot. And they had it listed for the amount we owed. We did NOT expect them to buy it for what we owed (we knew we would take a loss). But for the dealership to make us feel like we had no other option but get rid of it for so much less than it was worth, then turn around and sell it on their lot after then insisted they wouldn't is absolutely shady and terrible business. We have tried to call Matt, Kyle and David Maneage, the Manager of Lake Chevy, several times via phone and email to express our frustration regarding this and a transmission issue with one of the vehicles purchased. I wish I could give negative stars. This is the place that gives car salespeople a bad name. I ordered out and put money down on a new car last September. I was told it would be 3 to 4 months before the car would arrive. I was OK with that. I would have traded my current car in, but they were offering less than 1/3 of the blue book value. I was a bit insulted, but I had a backup buyer. Over the next 4 months, I was contacted a couple of times and told it was scheduled for pre-production. Along the way, they had offered a couple of other cars that weren't quite the car I ordered, so I chose to wait for mine. A little over 4 months had passed, so I asked for an update only to learn that they had never ordered my car. However, they again had a different car if I was interested in that. I felt like Clark Griswold getting the Family Queen Truckster. I decided to end my agreement with them and purchase from a different dealership. Now I had to try to get my money back. That took several attempts and phone calls and almost a month to get it. My advice to all is to to stay as far away from this company as you can. read more

Accident repair, just pathetic workmanship, no pride. I asked the service writer how old the body guy was that did the work, thinking 20 something but when I was told he was a senior guy I said to the manager "and he felt good signing his name to this?" So the work done was to a 17 Silverado. I got hit in the right wheel and spun into a parked vehicle. Both box panels were replaced along with both leaf springs and other incidentals to the tune of 10 grand. Repair took some time that I thought was excessive but whatever. I go to pick up my truck and walking up to the truck I could see the box "lines" were amok. The tailgate and light were off and so was the box to the cab. I could barley open the tailgate and there was dust all in the clear of the tailgate. I think after the third try the box was properly square with the cab. Couple days I am called to come get the truck. The lines all looked better but the tailgate still would not open with one finger, better, but not right. I actually set "offsets" with instructions/pictures with measurments for the tech to properly set the gate strikers so they don't slide them around and scratch the fresh paint to bare metal they just laid as they had. Another repaint of that area. I also noticed the rock guard on the right rear fender was all boggered up and you could see the primer. Another redo. I went under the box and checked all the bolts to make sure none were loose. To my surprise they were all tight. But realized the "Helter Skelter" application of the under-coating/rust inhibitor and over-spay to numerous areas. One early morning I notice the reverse lights were illuminating at considerably different Lumens when I unlocked it. I thought it was a bad ground. Pulled the tail lights and realized they must have lost or broke a bulb and when they replaced it they replaced it with the same "style" but payed no attention to the # on the bulb. Week later I find that my new $900 bed cover was F'd up. Did not even try to claim it, how could I prove it. I was lucky to have it covered under it's warranty and got a new one. Z-71 decals were both on crooked. I was going to just get different ones and put them on myself so it would be done right. But while waxing the truck that I got back in November 21, I see the paint is separating from the body on the right side lower, most likely bad prep work. This would be the 6th time returning the truck. I requested new decals but told the manager I will install them. I will say the manager, forget her name, kept her cool, as did I, but at times was frustrated with me. Yes kinda weird being frustrated with me. She kinda hesitated at getting me two new Z-71 decals but I told her "I did not put them on crooked". As I stated to her she always made things right, but the work was just pathetic and the tech should be embarrassed that he even signed his name to the work. They always made things right, but having to constantly dink around and or "repair" my own truck was a hassle/inconvenience. Not many places in town that do quality body work anymore. There was a place on 6th street just south of Layton but they got bought out by some Shitchicago outfit and the GM is a guy with neck tattoos. Nothing against tats as I have some for 45 years but just neck and face tats are just stupid, especially for a GM. The word on the street is their work has suffered from the buyout. This coming from a guy that did all the previous owners alignments and wont do anything for the new shop after "issues". Again, Lake always made things right, but having to constantly dink around and or "repair" my own truck was a hassle. I just feel that issues will constantly arise and would like to dump the truck especially with the inflated market but Chevy does not make an LTZ double-cab anymore just crew cabs, don't like crews. Looking at a new overpriced GMC but they are having issues with chips and need to order what I want for options. They do still make a double cab which is confusing. I don't really like the style either. The 15-18 LTZ Z-71 package is a sharp looking truck. Somebody that used to work for Goff's before they got bought out by Caliber does his own thing now and it is old school quality work. I originally contacted him to have this work done but he was in the process of opening his own shop when the Chinese Communist Plague hit and he was behind in getting things set up so I ended up at the dealer. read more

Normally these guys do great, quick efficient work. But recently these guys quoted me 1100 dollars for repairing the cracked gas return line on my 2006 saturn Ion fuel pump. Note: this would be my out-of-pocket expense AFTER General Motors paid for the new fuel pump and gas tank. They (Glenn Lewis) stated that "everything was rusty and your lines are leaking too" which was verified as false by another local mechanic. In either situation , 1) attempting to scam me or 2) thats just what their labor costs to do the work and my mechanic missed the leak...they have failed. A simple fuel leak should not cost 1100 dollars in any situation... ever. This cost after warranty work tells me that something is indeed wrong with this garage. read more

This was, by far, the best car buying experience ever! Prior to coming to Braeger, I was at Lynch in Kenosha where they tried to rip me off. Fuming on my drive to Braeger, I wasn't optimistic. Thankfully, I knew Tony Kossow's sister and both of us being Veterans, I knew he would do his best. From the beginning he was 100% honest and didn't pressure me to look at particular vehicles or up sell me. At the end of the day, I was able to purchase an amazing 2016 Chevy Silverado at a fantastic price. Heather in finance was no nonsense and kept it real. She did an amazing job getting me into a much better loan than Lynch offered, despite being 5 months out of Ch 7 bankruptcy. She was able to work a deal so that I could afford the warranty. We brought our Chevy Captiva in for service in January because we could not shift into park. We had to completely disconnect from the battery to park the car. We take it to Braeger because we had taken our car for minor repairs before and were happy. The cost almost $700.00 to replace the whole shifting consul. Not even three months later, I am going to put the car into drive and it says Neutral. I didn't force it, I just moved it to park. (I am a girl with a light touch) Nothing, still Neutral. We take it in by tow truck and they said I forcefully broke the counsel and cable. This part is clearly defective. What are the odds our shifter would be broke three months apart? But we have to pay because we need our car. But this time the cost is nearly a thousand dollars. Is this gong to happen in another three months? Why is there no warranty on the part or service? I feel we are being taken advantage of. We also had to repair the traction stabilizer in that time which was another $600.00. Braeger is not our dealership but we chose to bring it here because they work on our brand car. We are into repairs of a few thousand dollars in a few months. Never again. So I was put on a list at Lake Chevy in Milwaukee over a year ago to get my Z06 with the understanding I would only be paying MSRP. I explained to the salesman (Willie Burazin) that I did two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan and promised to myself that if I survived, would buy a Vette. My name finally came up in May. I ordered my car and it was delivered to the dealership August 15th. They now wandered $50K over MSRP. I argued with the sales manager (David) that I had a verbal agreement with your corvette salesman that I would pay MSRP. He only budged 10K! I was pissed beyond belief but didn't want to wait another year. Sadly paid the price but will continue to post how I was treated by them! Clutch hydraulic system failed at around 20,000 miles. Dealership first claimed it wasn't under warranty even though it was within the time and mileage limits and the failed component was specifically called out in the warranty and it was a common failure with existing GM service bulletins and I had bought the car new from them (as Braeger). Had to call GM Customer Service to get this resolved. Then, they replaced a bunch of related parts that weren't called out in the warranty & charged over $1000 for that. I count that as not honoring the warranty. I would not do business with them again since they wouldn't honor the warranty on a low-mileage new car. GM Customer Care was no help. Car was out of service for more than two weeks & they refused to provide a loaner. Had advice online from someone in a similar situation to sue in small claims court but I did not do that. read more

When I got there he's like oh why are they doing all of this stuff and he separated out the package to individual items to have it go for. $40 to $140! They charged me $20 more for the oil change than they said they would 90 for filters? who takes advantage of their customers like that? Totally dishonest place. Won't ever buy from them again and if you do be sure to take your new ride to shop to get an inspection done as soon as you leave the lot. 2 cars now with sh*t brown transmission fluid, dirty engine air filters, clogged cabin air filters, etc; after being told it was getting taken care of before sale. Scott in sales said the truck I was purchasing would be getting new brakes put on and they only did the rears. Left the fronts hoping I wouldn't notice I guess. I am a frequent customer at Braeger, and usually I rave about their service and support. Today unfortunately, my experience was bad enough to make me question whether I will ever return. I brought my vehicle in for some squealing in the tires and to have a tire resealed. I had explained that my dad had just done the brakes for me a week prior. While waiting over two hours in the waiting area, another employee came in and asked if we wanted him to change the channel because CNN was fake news. He proceeded to share his political opinions with us. Another customer in the area shared that he was a patriot and had proudly served our country, to which the employee interrupted and discredited this customers service. When the employee from service came back to talk with me he began to put down my dad's work on the brakes. He also said I needed GM parts rather than the "AC Delco he just threw in there." I told him to leave the brakes and to simply finish sealing the wheel. Another 30 minutes later my boyfriend had to come as I was over 30 minutes late for work. I checked in briefly with the service tech to share that my boyfriend would be taking the car and that I had to go. He again put down my dad's work in the car and his choice in parts. My feelings were genuinely hurt and I left crying. My boyfriend picked up the $110 bill for a sealed wheel and bad service. read more

In total my wife and I have bought 6 cars from Braeger. 4 from Doug. We did have lapses. 1 Nissan (not happy with) and 2 Fiat (currently still own and happy with). But knowing me I will be in the market for a car sooner than later and will have them hunt out the car I want (2016 500 Abarth in yellow). So, in short I would buy from Braeger again. Normally I do all that stuff myself, but it was so cheap that I couldn't pass it up. Called and made the appointment... they didn't tell me the place was under construction and had no signage. So I passed it once or twice when I took my car to find it. No big deal. Drove car into service bay. Talked to service dude, who was cool. Hand him my groupon-coupon. Told him I wanted full synthetic oil knowing they were going to charge me a bit extra. He handed my key off to some kid. I hang out in their customer area, which is weird because it's a bunch of fake leather couches in a huge open space surrounded by people at desks. Like I said, under construction. Horrible magazine selection. Read Guns & Ammo or something like it. A bit later they come snag me. Car's washed and ready to go, but they need to get me an invoice to take to the cashier so I can pay the extra on the synthetic oil. More waiting. Like 15 minutes. Finally some guy just comes and tells me I can split. No paperwork, no receipt. Now, I should have demanded that stuff, but I was sick of being there and left. This all happened a few weeks ago. Flash forward to the other day. I notice a recurring leak of fluid from the car, which had previously been diagnosed as transmission oil. I call up my regular garage and tell 'em "hey, it's leaking again." Get my car there for that and some other service and the dude asks me if I've had my oil changed recently. I sez "Yeah homie". Turns out the transmission is fine. DUMBASSES AT BRAEGER PUT MY OIL DRAIN PLUG BACK IN LOOSE AND WITHOUT A GASKET. How fucking lazy/stupid do you have to be to screw that up? I also would bet I got no "27 Point Inspection". On top of that, I might even think I didn't get synthetic oil as requested. My car needs that shit. Doug has been my salesman and he is amazing to work with. He is personable & very willing to help you find the right car. My husband has bought cars from Darnell (who used to work at Tri-City Mitsubishi...which is now Schlossmann City Mitsubishi) and they were great. They were able to get him out of a lease that he had for only a couple of months into a car that he liked more. I got up to drive an hour to the airport in the morning and found my tire low. I began the worrying process of getting back to the airport a few days later and dealing with it. I called Braeger and talked with Scott in service. He told me to come in when I was back and they would fit me in. P0013 p0014 code...Id give this place a zero if i could.Have had nothing but trouble and large bills working with this dealership. Took car in first time to have a vibration looked at in front they brought me a quote of $450.00 I thought that was to much he said if I took car id have to pay $200.00 diagnosis fee I was shocked never have i had a bill that high just to have a diagnosis done its $60 At most mechanics so if i left i had to pay $200 n do it in cold myself. Or pay another mechanic to do it it would be bout same so i just had them do it. When i left it still was making noise.And now I had a check engine light. Called back Had trouble getting appointment to get it back in. So in mean time had codes checked at auto zone it was a p0013 and p0014 code. Part was a solenoid for cam it was like $20 n two bolts easy I did it. Got appointment to have vibration looked. Engine code kept popping on and off. Same code. Finally got it in told them problems that i just changed out solenoid.So they say that vibration is my tires I asked why they replace my berring last time than. He said he cant speak on that. And for code it was cam solenoid p0013 p0014. I told him I know that i told you that I just changed it.He said they are really bad in Malibu and equinoxes. N gave me a Quote for $289.00 and a $113.00 diagnosis fee. I asked for what i told you the problem you did nothing to car just hooked it up to an OBDII scanner and it was same thing i told you. He asked if I wanted it fixed or not. I said no he said well thst will be $113.00 for diagnostics I told him it was bullshit. Paid him asked where my car was parked. He looked at me n smiled said thdy had to button it up. I said button what up all you did is hook it up to a scanner. It took 10 min to bring me my car. In that 10 min 3 people asked me y i wasnt having it fixed there I told them n showed them video of me fixing the solenoid. They all had same problem. Hope they got out of there. As im driving home i take left turn n there is loud clunk. Never ever again will i take any car into that shop. Never and if you have a p0013 p0014 code just look video up its easy n cheap to fix but these cars are shit. I used to love chevy its just junk like rest now. Going to buy old chevy n rebuild fuck dealerships. N drive train warranty is useless so if u buy cars from any of the dealerships dont waste your money put same amount they are asking for it in a seperate savings account at your bank youll have enough money in couple to have any issue fixed. Ive had my car 2 1/2 years i worked it out i paid $2500 just in warranty cost. Never again.oh n all of this took 3hrs they didnt even take my car for over two hrs after my appointment time. They took three people that showed up after me. Which all were dressed to impress. Money talks i guess. They will leave your car all day outside before they take it. read more

I needed to get my suburban's oil changed and I like to take it to Chevy dealerships for service. This was my first time here. Right off the bat things weren't going well. I made an appointment for 7 AM from the website, and at about 7:05 the service bay finally opened and I pulled my car in. I told the assistant service manager about my appointment and he had no record of it because the online scheduler wasn't sending appointments over. Not a huge deal, I was the first one in. Then I find out the oil service techs don't come in until 8. This was nowhere on the website. I'd told the assistant service manager this and he said they are still trying to figure out what is all on the website because I told him it was a little odd making my appointment. So anyway I head to the customer lounge around 7:15. I don't mind waiting in the customer lounges because of the free amenities. Overall it was clean and they did have free coffee/water/soda/juice. However it didn't really wow me like some customer lounges have. My oil change was finished about 9:00 AM. I did get a couple of quotes on other services and I will say the prices are OK- but my first experience was enough to have me looking elsewhere. read more
