I looked around and found a company that would take me from Seldovia to anchorage for 180$.... Ravn gives a full credit for cancellations (yay #ravnair ) and I got to take the most amazing flight with a very friendly pilot... I think his name was Mauricio and if not I am sorry as you were terrific!. Take is easy on this guy as he goes homer to four beautiful kiddos under the age of 7. There were a couple other passengers and I got to see a couple of really cute airports. The flight felt like a minute and I wish it lasted a lot longer.. if I save up for next summer I will be learning to fly one of these planes based on this experience. The owner took us to anchorage airport (15$- totally worth it and cheaper then any Uber). but my flight was about 7 hours away and I asked if there was a good place to enjoy the fresh air. he took me to a park with a lovely restaurant that let me charge my phone :). The front desk was wonderful and let me store my luggage. I sat on the grass and watched the float plane park and all its activity and I took a nice walk.. The whole experience with midnight air was fun and flawless and led to other wonderful experiences... Thank you... I flew Lake and Penn Air this past weekend from Anchorage (Merrill Field, the local/regional…read morecarrier airport, not Ted Stevens) to Port Alsworth, Alaska to spend the weekend at Lake Clark National Park. I paid $530 roundtrip for my flight, which is pretty standard for catching an Alaskan Bush Plane out to all the remote national parks that cannot be reached by vehicle. For finding the Lake and Penn Air Terminal, I simply plugged Merrill Field into Google Maps and had no issues finding them. I parked in an open spot right beside the aircraft building. This was free of charge and all that Lake and Penn Air asked of me was to leave my car keys with them in case they had to move my vehicle for any reasons. Departing Anchorage for an 8am flight, I was told to show up at the airport by 7am. Upon arriving, I simply check in at the counter and then walked outside to a hangar-like building where they weighed my luggage bags. I was allowed to have up to 50 pounds of weight without being charged an extra fee. That was no problem. I was just venturing around Lake Clark for a few days and didn't need much luggage with me. I departed right on time at 8am. As per my usual routine, I asked one of the employees to take a photo of myself standing in front of the propeller plane, as I was venturing out to my 60th National Park! Of course, the girl obliged and took a few picks before I boarded. The Bush Plane departing to Port Alsworth had 4 rows and 8 passengers on board including myself. There was one unoccupied seat across from me in the 4th row which actually worked out well as I was able to change seats during the flight because the views flying to Port Alsworth were beautiful! Amazingly beautiful, lol! So yes, I highly recommend getting your camera and phone out ready to take pictures and videos while flying. Most of the wondrous scenery came as we were away from Anchorage and closer towards Port Alsworth. Btw, the flight was roughly about 1 hour long. Also great about Lake and Penn Air is that when I arrived at 9am in Port Alsworth, my cabin that I had reserved wasn't available until 3pm so they happily stored my belongings in their office/garage until I was finished exploring for the day and ready to be driven to my cabin by my Air B&B host. For my return flight, it was scheduled at 5pm in the late afternoon. Once again Lake and Penn Air told me they had no issues storing my luggage until departure time because I had to check out of my cabin by 11am. So that was great of them. Now...since it was so rainy and there were tough conditions throughout my Lake Clark visit, the day prior I stopped by Lake and Penn Air's office and asked them if they had an earlier flight leaving the following day for which I could change departures. They did have a 7am flight back to Anchorage and since there was space onboard the aircraft, they simply switched me without even clicking a button! Finally, for my 7am departure back to Anchorage, I had Lyle (who I believe is the owner of Lake and Penn Air) as my pilot. And...I really appreciated Lyle! here's why.... It was 7am in the morning and it was pouring rain! I was nervous to fly, lol, actually frightened. But Lyle told me not to worry I'm in good hands. Although the flight back to Anchorage was pretty bumpy and we flew through clouds the entire way, I trusted Lyle (obviously) with my life, lol, and yep we landed safely back at Merrill Field. I tell ya...I'll never understand how these pilots fly in such tough weather, but they can do it, and Lyle was a professional and I couldn't have asked for more! I'm happy to be writing this review about Lake and Penn Air. I know there is also Lake Clark Air that flies out to Port Alsworth...and people do have choices, but I am here to recommend that Lake and Penn Air are 5 stars worthy fantastic! As I've written in my other reviews, I spent months and months and months planning a 5-week trip around Alaska to visit the eight National Parks in the nation's largest state. Without Lake and Pen Air, my Dad and I would not have met our goal of visiting all the parks. We were able to fly with Lake and Pen Air from Anchorage to Port Alsworth to visit Lake Clark National Park in July of 2019. The check in process in Anchorage was very easy and our overweight luggage was able to accommodated. Our flight was amazing as we flew over scenic, snowy mountains, glaciers, lakes, and even a volcano. Dave Wilder, Founder of LPA, was our pilot! We even made another stop along the way which was like an added bonus for me. The ride was smooth and I had complete faith and trust in Dave. My Dad and I also flew with LPA to go from Port Alsworth to King Salmon to visit Katmai National Park and Preserve. After extensive research, chartering a flight with Lake and Pen was actually the cheapest and most convenient option. As my Dad joked, the flights on our trip kept getting smaller and smaller and this time around it was my Dad, myself, and our LPA pilot Barry. We flew over Lake Iliamna, enjoyed the views, and before we knew it we were landing safe and sound in King Salmon. Barry helped us figure out where to go to find the Katmailand Shuttle and we were well on our way. I can't thank Lake and Pen Air enough for helping to make my dreams come true. Every correspondence I had with them whether it was via email, phone, or in-person was professional, prompt, and just delightful! The prices were definitely fair, the service was great, and the adventure was unforgettable. Thank you!

I hunted AK in September of 2017 and my bush pilot highly recommended I use Alaska Air Transit…read more(AAT) but I decided to book PenAir instead thinking they'd be more reliable because they are a bigger airline, plus their tickets were less expensive. I had to be in a small village on 9/13 to catch a flight into the bush with a bush pilot who was all booked up. Two weeks prior to my flight to AK, Penn Air cancelled my 9/13 flight to McGrath, AK leaving me in a very bad spot because there are only 2 airlines who fly to this McGrath. I was told I would get a full refund since they cancelled the flight. This ended up being a total lie. I immediately called AAT and was very lucky they had a few seats left so I booked with them. I am certain a lot of Penn Air customers were not able to get to this village on time or had to pay big bucks to charter a flight there. The AAT flight went off without a hitch and those working at AAT were very friendly, accommodating and professional. When I got to McGrath, all I heard from those who used PeAir was horrible stories; several were stuck in this village 4 days, spending $250 a night for the only Hotel, waiting for PenAir to get their luggage to them. I had booked refundable tickets with Penn Air on my flight back to Anchorage so after my bad experience and those from others, I called PenAir and asked if I cancelled my flight would I get a refund and was told I would since I booked a refundable tickets. This too ended up being a lie. I cancelled the PenAir flight and booked with AAT. The flight back to Anchorage with AAT again went off without a hitch and the pilot was nice and professional. Had it not been for AAT and their dependability, and a little luck on my part they still has seats available, my AK Hunt would have been a bust. AAT is a little more expensive but well worth it. I have learned a very expensive lesson about who to fly with in AK and will always use AAT going forward. I cannot say how thankful and grateful I am to all the AAT staff for being dependable, reliable, friendly and professional! As the old adage goes...you get what you pay for! It is January 6, 2018 and I still have not gotten refunded for the tickets PenAir staff told me without question I would be refunded. Fly Alaska Air Transit!

So I can tell you they NEVER installed a heater in anyone's house. Now as a Charter service Tim at Jayhawk and his crews are top notch, beyond extremely accommodating and will bend over backwards to get your mission completed in safety and comfort. I have used them for the last 7 years for work and have never had any complaint except the day ended too soon. If you need helicopter charter service use Tim at Jayhawk, you will never be disappointed.

This place installed a heater several years ago in my home. I had had an old heater that (i was…read moretold) parts were no longer available for. I was asked if I wanted the same sized heater, and so, not knowing about heaters and thinking that the old furnace had worked fine up until the moment it broke, I said "Yes". When the furnace was installed and turned on, such a huge noise there was! I can not talk on the phone anywhere near the heater when it is on. It can be heard outside the house working. When I have people over and the heater goes on, people kind of jump and say "What's THAT?" Recently I had a problem with it and called another company to see what was wrong and to find out how to fix it. Immediately the guy noticed that the furnace was too big for the space. It had been wrapped in so much insulation, I'd thought to try to keep down the noise after i complained. It turns out that also, the company that put it in, "Jayhawk" must have known that it was too big so it was wrapped for safety, as well. Upon doing a safety inspection recently, the new guy I'd called found cracks in the something-or-other that were caused by the heater's being too big for the space. I'd complained to Jayhawk right away about the huge noise, and the owner became angry with my complaint He said something like...you people! I give you heat and you complain! What are you complaining for? You're WARM!...and stuff like that. i wondered who the "You people" are he's talking about. Well, it turns out that Jayhawk installs for large companies/businesses. And so a heater of this size would be appropriate for those kinds of places. It was NOT an appropriate size for my single-dwelling little family home, and a professional who knew that should have advised me to go with a smaller unit...which I'll have to get now. Also, the person who recommended this company to me later had her own problems with her heater. It had been installed under her home and after a number of years, they'd noticed a gas smell. They got another company out (not Jayhawk because she knew about my problems with that company by then) and the new company found that there was something wrong with the installation that had caused it to begin to rust through! So, they had to get a new unit too...from someone else, of course. These are both units that are out of warranty now. The things that happened to both my friend and i should never have happened in the first place, if installed by a decent company. These problems did NOT have to do with normal wear and tear of several years. Although out of warranty, neither is so old that replacement should have been the only option.

He picked us up from our hotel and we flew for about 2.5 hours to destination. En route to Brooks Camp, he narrated the coast line, volcanoes, and the lakes and rivers underneath. Once we get there, he accompanied us to the viewing platform and then waited for us to return. He provided us home-made king salmon salad and several snack for lunch. On our way back, he took a different route over Lake Clarks and the valley with glaciers on both sides. We saw rivers with spawning salmons, bears and caribous wandering on grasslands. The flight was entertaining and safe. Steve was very knowledgeable about the area and told us many stories. We truly enjoyed the trip with him.

Pilot was super chatty and we did a spectacular 90 degree turn into a crystal clear lake with bears roaming about. On the way back we went on the otter, which is an amazing plane that skimmed over the top of the mountain range on way back to anchorage. They have the experience and track record. There are cheaper services but rusts I'll pick you up at hotel and they have lots of lobby space in case your flight is delayed by weather. If you have the money do a trip on a floatplane. It's amazing.
