This review is for "Anchorage To Whittier Turnagain Arm Tour" cruise ship transfer. The hotel pick up went smoothly. Dan was our driver and tour guide. He provided great stories about local history and culture. As part of the package, we got to stop by the Alaska wildlife conservation center. This actually became the highlight of our trip and exceeded our expectations. It's always great when unexpected surprises turn out to be the best part of a tour. Only wished we could have had more time to visit and learn more. Overall the tour was well worth the money and that the small group size provided a personalized touch. Took the transfer from anchorage to Seward. We started at the airport as we had to return our rental. The driver was really great and knowledgeable about the area. The drive is very scenic! This is a much cheaper option than the train and I think the views are just as good. Definitely recommend! read more

The bus ride was good! The driver was very nice, and shared lots of good information. Even though we knew some of the info., it was still fascinating! It felt good to be so high up on the bus! We could even see the roofs of other passing cars! When we passed through the large tunnel to Whittier, our driver, Taylor, told us facts about the tunnel. Ira (aka Santa, or Santa's cousin) lead us on a great tour from Whittier to Anchorage. We booked a private tour since we had 8 passengers. He was early, and stood with us while we tried to find/report our lost luggage to Princess. He then helped us with our luggage to the van. He was great with our kids, as he's a grandfather himself. He took his time showing us the sights, and never hurried us along. In fact, I think we took too much time and I kind of feel bad about that! Despite us getting into Anchorage later than scheduled, he took the time and waited until we checked into the hotel and showed one of us around Anchorage so we wouldn't get lost. What a guy! My sister-in-law discovered this alternative to paying our cruise line to take us to the airport. For only $5 more, we got a half-day tour that was one of the highlights of the trip. I'd been wanting to see bears our entire time in Alaska, and it wasn't until Sean took us to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center that we saw bears so close we could almost touch them, as well as elk, reindeer, a bald eagle, lynx, and an owl. We also enjoyed the other stops on the tour, which were beautiful, and one had very informative placards. Also Sean gave us information along the way and offered to take photos of our family. Finally, I left a couple of items on the bus, and the company put me in touch with him in time for him to come back to the airport and bring me my things, saving me money and hassle of having them shipped back or losing them. I took the direct Anchorage to Whitter transfer. For a 'Discount' company the value paid ($30 pp) and the friendliness of Judy and Dan I would recommend them. If you are looking for 5 star service where the driver holds your hand, this isn't it. This is a small shuttle bus (Parked right next to the HUGE buses that you book from Princess and pay $70 pp for). They put your luggage in a trailer behind the bus. If you have a Northern Lights book you can save another $15. In fact, Judy went 100% OUT OF HER WAY to find a family that didn't read the instructions and sat at the Taxi terminal instead of the Bus Area. She didn't have to do that but she said it would be better to risk 5 minutes and have happy passengers. She's also a good narrator of the local items and is friendly. So I can testify that if you need to get to Whittier and don't want to spend double just for a prettier bus with a bathroom for a whole 1.5 hr drive, book them! So why didn't I give them 5 Star? Well because they aren't a 5 Star Company, they are a discount company with a smaller van that fits my purpose precisely! read more

Picked up from our hotel in anchorage and took us to our cruise in Whittier. We stopped for pictures a few times and then for a short walking tour at Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center where we saw bears, a fox, a bald eagle, and lots more. Our driver was knowledgeable, friendly, and offered to take pictures with our cameras at each stop. TIP: Try the reindeer sausage at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Delicious! Bought 1 for our family to share; should have bought 2 or more. read more

Found this company on tripadvisor.com...and after some research decided to book this company from Seward back to the airport in Anchorage. Made a couple of stops for pics and one stop at the Animal Sanctuary...it was great! First time I got to see the Alaskan animals throughout the whole cruise. Loved it...and a little cheaper than the other transport companies. James was our driver and he is very informative, funny and nice! Will definately use this company again! read more

Great tour company and amazing driver/tour-guide/historian HANK! We had such a nice drive to our cruise ship that it was like an 'excursion' in itself! Hank provided so much information on the history and sites of the area from our pick-up point to drop-off point about an 1 1/2 away. He even made a quick stop at a beautiful point so everyone could take pictures! I'm back in CA now, but this bus ride to the port was one of the best parts of our trip! Used Anchorage Tours & Transfers to get from the The Lakefront Anchorage hotel to Whittier for our cruise on September 12 on the Island Princess. The driver arrived on-time and loaded up our luggage and off we went. Very nice tall young man who had lots of interesting commentary for our drive down. The weather was stunning and we enjoyed the views along the way. Bus was not upscale but was clean and nice. I think the service was significantly cheaper than the train and you travel the exactly same route. Whatever you do, don't book your transfers through Princess unless you want to pay double for the same exact service. I highly recommend Anchorage Tours & Transfers if you are taking a cruise out of Whittier! read more

We took the half-day transfer from Whittier to Anchorage to get us from a cruise ship to our hotel and we are so happy we chose this company. The driver was friendly and knowledgeable and also driving safely. The tour stopped at two scenic view spots and at a Wildlife conservation center. It was raining a little so it was nice that the driver offered to drive anyone not interested in getting wet around the center instead of making them get off the bus and walk. My husband and I didn't mind the rain and enjoyed the other option of taking off to explore the conservation center on our own. This place is really worth a visit so I am glad we opted for this longer and more expensive transfer instead of just going straight from the cruise ship to our hotel. Overall, the cost of this transfer was lower than what was offered by Princess cruises and also this company was very easy to deal with and they had a generous cancellation policy which I appreciated since we not sure if we would have to make changes to our reservation. read more

We booked Anchorage Tours & Transfers once we disembarked at Whittier. They were easy to find at the port and the check in process was simple. Once I met my driver, I asked if she could drop us off at our overnight housing close to the airport. She agreed and we took off. We were the last ones to be dropped off and the driver got some major attitude as we approached our destination. I'm not sure why considering she's the one who agreed to drop of us at our destination. Overall good service at a good rate, but the driver quality is mediocre. read more

Anchorage hotel pickup and a very interesting tour on the way to the cruise ship in Whittier and at a cheaper price than the Princess Cruise line wanted for their 1 1/2 - 2 hr bus ride from the airport to Whittier. This was the only transfer service that I found that would pick us up at our hotel. And our guide/driver was amazingly knowledgeable about everything between the airport and Whittier. Turns out that she (Jenine?) was a University of Alaska Botany professor doing tours during the tourist season. She was very knowledgeable about the geology and animals we saw along the way as well as the vegetation. She gave us tremendous insight into what we were looking at with explanations on glacier formation. I thought the tour/ship transfer was worth twice the price we paid! Thank you! read more

The driver was about 30 minutes late, after the quoted latest pick up time. The driver seemed to be out of sorts, as she was having difficulties getting going. I had to assist her loading our bags into the back of the van. After we got going, she seemed to calm down and the rest of the trip was enjoyable...... read more

We took this shuttle from the cruise ship in Seward to Anchorage and very pleased - we were met right at the cruise ship dock by Janeen and dropped right at our hotel in Anchorage. The photo/bathroom stops were very scenic but it was annoying that several of the passengers were always the last to re-board, keeping everyone waiting. When we stopped, Janeen didn't make it clear how long the stop would be or emphasize the need for timeliness, which could help address this annoyance (although you'll probably always have those inconsiderate travelers in any group). The stop at the wildlife sanctuary was fantastic - a highlight of the trip and I wish it could have been at least 2 hours. The drive around the airport in Anchorage was a great bonus - so interesting and informative about the small planes, operations and how the locals live. read more

Took the 4 1/2 hour transfer from Seward to Anchorage with Judy and it was AWESOME. I was nervous about booking with this company, but it was a good $30 cheaper than the bus transfer offered by Celebrity. Judy was not only very considerate (made sure the passengers in the back of the bus were not too hot or cold) but a great tour guide. She was so knowledgeable about the area and was just all around awesome to talk to. Great stories and a wonderful bus transfer. Took us to a couple photo stops, and drove us through the Wildlife Conservation Center. Kept us on track so we all made our plane. Took some of our party to another location too. She was awesome. We took the bus from Whittier to Anchorage. The driver and other employees in the arrival building were very helpful in organizing the group that was traveling. The driver loaded the bags into the trailer that was towed behind the bus so we did not have to do any work which was very nice since everyone had large bags. The trip itself was fine, we made it through the tunnel without any delays. A bathroom break was included which also was nice. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is that the driver took us on a tour of the Anchorage airfield where allthe small plane were kept. It was somewhat informative but our main goal was to get to the airport itself, not get lesson on different small (2-5 person) planes. All in all I recommend them. read more

Used Achorage Tours and Transfers to get from Whittier cruise terminal to the Anchorage airport on June 24, 2017. Trip was great. We Immediately found Dan in the cruise terminal after disembarking. He had a table set up with a large sign, couldn't have missed him. He promptly directed us to our shuttle bus. The shuttle was a 26 seat mini-bus. Fairly new. Very comfortable. James was our tour guide. He was polite, informative and very entertaining. We stopped along the way at Beluga Point, the Portage Glacier, and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. This was the third time I have traveled on this service and all of my experiences have been fantastic. A very reliable and professional operation, top notch. read more

The driver arrived on time (a few minutes early actually), and he made a point to say where he was stopping next and how soon we would get to Whittier. He gave a great tour and explained some of the landscape on the way. We were some of the first people to the port. I took a private charter with Ira and a shared transfer with Cal. Both drivers were great and we thoroughly enjoyed the rides. I really appreciated that Anchorage Tours and Transfers was willing to accommodate us despite the fact that we were a group of three cyclists with lists of equipment. When one of us needed to end the trip early, they were willing to refund his shared transfer and arrange a different ride for him. The staff is ultra flexible and helpful and the drivers are great. Both drivers arrived slightly early too. Can't recommend them enough. They also happened to have some of the most reasonable pricing which sealed the deal. read more

This was outstanding!!! We had two stops and another one at the Wildlife Preserve where we saw lots of animals. The cruise company wanted $65 each for a transfer from the airport to Seward. This company was $15 more for all that we got. We met at a hotel and Kate picked us up at the scheduled time. She had a warm personality, smiling, and was very informative throughout the tour. Kate picked up other people at other hotels and then at the airport and we were off for our tour. We got to the ship terminal at 1:00. I highly recommend this tour. Used from Seward to Anchorage after Cruise. Happy with service. Shared information along the way and stopped at a very scenic lodge with great baking for a washroom break. Some felt the curves on road were taken a little too fast. The other issue we had was the initial recommendation of where they said we could leave our luggage for the day, did not take luggage any longer. However, a quick phone call fixed the problem. Recommend leaving luggage at 360 Harbour hotel. Great location. read more
