I bought a 2018 Toyota C-HR from Lake Country and when it hit 60,000 miles there was a whine coming from the front. It was still under warranty so I brought it in to be looked at. They said it was nothing to worry about. So now I found out that the transmission is a CTV and they fail completely. They knew that and sent me away. So now my car is failing me. I had hopes of driving it for many more years and trusted the Toyota reputation. I don't trust Lake Country now because they failed to do what was right. Brought brand new Toyota Highlander in for initial service. Service writer told my wife new tires were soon needed. She was also told when questioning about that , new tires were not put on at the factory....... Unreal. Despite indicating on the repair order the tires were rotated, they were not! Fluids were not topped off as described on the work order. The service advisor also indicated that the air filter and the cabin filter were in need of replacement soon. Unreal! A call to the service manager was helpful, as he came to our house and picked the car up and rotated the tires. Miraculously the tread depth changed on the inspection report, filters were indicated as good as well. This service department and its employees, lack integrity and accountability. No offer of a free oil change or a car wash to apologize for the situation. As soon as my warranty is up I will certainly find an honest mechanic! read more

Horrible customer service. I ordered a new Land Cruiser, the day I arrived to pick it up, at my designated appointment time, the paperwork was not ready and I waited over an hour for the car to be ready and paperwork to be completed. I paid cash so not sure what could possibly have taken so long? I didn't have time for the new car walkthrough as I never anticipated things taking so long. When I've tried to come back for the walkthrough my calls are not returned and the manager told my husband it's our fault for not getting the walkthrough the day I purchased the car. We love the Land Cruiser and will be buying another one, just not from this dealership. I've never before spent $71,000 for such awful customer service! read more

I bought a top of the line Highander at Lake Country in Jnauary of 2023. Cars were tough to come by at that time due to chip shortages. I left a request for a car with my requirements and was told I would get a call if something came available. One did and except for the color it was fine. We took it and have had it serviced several times for routine mantainence with no problems and good freindly service. This week I will get the last free service at 20K miles. Meanwhile we are waiting on a brand new Camry Hybird to go along with the Highlander from the same dealer. Lake country was going to trade one of their vehicles with the Grand forks store (lithia) in order to get me my truck however the grand forks store undercut lake county and sold me the truck direct which at the time I wanted to save as much $$ as possible. Since then I have visited the parts department at lake country and have really enjoyed their service. We have bought many Toyotas in the past, 5 in total. We have a Highlander that kept having batteries die. Bought the Highlander from Lakes Country, and have had ALL the service work done by them. Some thing has changed. We brought it in . (Flat bedded) -no start. They kept it Thursday - monday. I asked if had gotten to it the following Monday. Nope-too busy,no rental cars. They then replaced the battery which was a Diehard 2 years old. They also noted that we need new brakes. They Didn't fix anything else. Guess what- the new Toyota Sure Start $ 160 battery died too. Brought it back -oh its the $150 battery cable. Done. Nope that didn't work. We took it to Batteries Plus and they said the alternator was bad. How stupid am I ,brought back to Lakes Country. They then charged me $800 for for an AFTERMARKET alternator, because a Toyota one may not show up quickly. Well, the A/C light was flashing after they worked on it. I call and asked if they could check it our. OH GOSH no . Too busy, and the service manage said he'd charge us $125 to look at it. We took it to Mastercare in Pine River. He found that Lake Country Toyota forgot to connect our A/C compressor when they worked on our alternator. We were told also, no brakes were needed yet. I called Mark the general manager, whom seemed concerned. We will see if any attempt to make it right happens. read more

I bought a used 2008 Toyota Prius from this dealership. When I initially contacted them about the Prius, Corey texted me pictures so I could see what it looked like (the pictures weren't up on the website). I was still interested, so he offered to put the car aside when it came back from being detailed so that I would be the first one to look at it. I appreciated this because I was 2 and 1/2 hours away from the dealership. When I got there, they let me test drive it by myself. After I did the test drive, Corey made sure I was wanting to buy it (he told me I didn't need to make the decision that day, which was different from other dealers I had gone to). The person who worked with me on the paperwork to sell the car did a good job explaining exactly what I was paying for and what was on the documents I was signing (I think his name was Steve?). About 20 minutes after I left the dealer, the tire pressure light came on. I wasn't sure if I should continue driving, so I called the dealership. It turned out that the tire pressure gauges on the rear tires had dead batteries because they had replaced the tires the same day I bought the car (they didn't know this was a problem until I had a problem with it, but they said they would fix the problem for free, regardless of if it was just tire pressure or if it was bad sensors). The person who was in charge of selling used cars (the used car manager?) let me have them replaced for free, since I had just bought the car from them. It took about an hour and a half for the car to be ready to go again. The person in the service department did a good job updating me on what was happening with my car, and seemed to care more about helping the other customers make sure their cars got fixed, even if the customer wasn't necessarily going to be paying them to have it fixed (The customer was looking for a specific kind of bolt, and wanted to know where he could find one). Overall, I had a good experience with both the sales department and the service department. I didn't use financing, so I don't know how that works at this dealership. There didn't seem to be any unreasonable fees that I had to pay when they gave me the total (it was only about $650 over the listing price of the car, and at least $450 of that was taxes). I've had the car for almost a week without noticing any further problems with it. If it weren't for the long drive to get there, I would definitely buy my next car there and would probably look into getting my Prius fixed up there. I might still consider buying my next car from them. read more
