The first course was a delightful fruit parfait. The second course was a delicious frittata made by Karen and Steve's famous maple bacon. The third course was a really tasty scone. But the fourth course absolutely blew me away. Karen and Steve are classical musicians, and I knew they would be great. But their music touched my soul and had me in tears. The Wildberry Lodge gives you the privacy of the mountains with the feel of an upscale hotel. The amenities include a hot tub with stunning views as well as the best basement man cave that includes a pool table, shuffle board, and unique amenities like an old school Scrabble board. The breakfast features fresh fruit, delicious eggs, potatoes, and a variety of juices. We are not the typical frustrated novelist who always post reviews. During our trip to Asheville we wanted to experience the city but also have cabin time. Wildberry lodge provided us with the most relaxing and comfortable experience we could ever ask for. Wild berry is definitely a way to get out of the city and just enjoy the quietness of nature (without going too far of course!) The drive itself is around 25-30 mins from downtown Asheville - there are several ways to get here but the new foundland road was probably the best route. It's easy to stay in the cabin and go enjoy yourself in the city during the day or evening. Ken and Glenda were very hands off and so friendly - if you have questions on where to go or what to do they can accommodate everything! The main cabin has multiple rooms - gooseberry and some other room options. This is where you check in, get breakfast, game room, sit on the deck, coffee/cider bar and chit chat with other guests if your heart desires. The best part of our stay was Glenda's breakfasts! Her recipes were featured in an Asheville bed and breakfast recipe book! We signed up for a bfast time the day prior (anywhere from 8am-930am) and she is usually ready whenever we get there! Our first breakfast included - garden frittata, bacon, homemade English muffin, rosemary roasted potatoes and to finish it off - poached pear. Our second breakfast included pumpkin pecan pancakes, cranberry/apple chutney and sausages and ended it with a mixed berry cobbler. Everything was superb and very filling! We stayed in the honey moon suite to get the full cabin - on our own - experience and it was gorgeous! The bed is super comfy, everything was clean and up to date. It was almost like glamping! Only downside to our visit was the drive at night can be a bit scary if you are not use to driving on mountains. One of the first nights it was raining so it was slightly difficult coming back to the cabin from downtown Asheville. Just make sure you have a car and drive safely! The house sits on Main Street, within walking distance to 5 restaurants and Weaverville's downtown. The grounds are manicured to perfection and the rental staff are quick to respond to any need. The kitchen enabled us to cook gourmet dinners, with every tool a good chef needs. The house is stocked with quality linens, towels and bedding one may expect at a 5 star hotel. Soaps, shampoos and cleaning products keep one asking "is there anything they don't provide?" This house, with its 4 bedrooms and adjoining 4 bedroom units, would be the perfect site for family reunions or wedding parties. I've rented lots of homes- this one is the most memorable for its exceptional quality, expensive appliances, decorative touch and fully stocked kitchen and baths.

Overall I'm thrilled the town is trying to get back on its feet and I'm happy to support all the businesses.

There's plenty of sleeping room with 2 king sized beds, one in each unit and 2 couches, one in each unit. The king beds are so comfy and we slept good. The down stairs B unit was like a cute little apartment. There's a jacuzzi that I regret not using but you need to close both blinds on either side when taking a bath. The shower is big with a door. There's a washer and dryer in both units. There's a big enough kitchen and sitting space in both units. The only problem we incurred on day 1 and 2 was a broken air conditioner. However, maintenance was out asap and fixed it both times with a quickness. The maintenance staff seemed very nice and helpful. The second day we were there we went and enjoyed the wellness center pool and saunas which is very clean and there's putt-putt and other games outside. We were told that one of the beaches/lake sides was open but we never found it. If you are looking for other things to do on your stay, chimney rock is nearby. Asheville is almost an hour away and black mountain is about the same. You'll have a good time and have plenty of choices for food and fun if you go to either.

The beds were comfy the tent was cute inside and everything was clean including the public bathhouse. I however did not use the porta potty because I don't use those but I'm sure it was clean. We came in the winter time and if your issue with camping is bugs then i suggest this is the time to go if you can bare the cold! Did not see a single insect which helped because I cannot do spiders Lol! Ended the long day coming back from snowboarding by easing down in the hot tub while watching the stars. Honestly stayed warm for 20 minutes after getting out of tub. Couldn't figure out how to use heat/ac unit so we used our own space heater we brought but theres a page in the binder about how to use it that I wish we saw. (our fault) Either way the blankets kept us plenty warm and the sun in the morning warmed us up too. Fun experience overall and did not dissapoint. Saw somewhere in a review I think about frozen pipes and prepared for that and I think they were frozen because no water came out of sink or shower. That was no problem for us though because we brought plenty of water bottles. Still recommend regardless because you don't get a shower camping usually anyways.
