    Cúrate room

If you're looking for a place to unwind and unplug from the hustle and bustle, I highly recommend Blind Tiger Asheville. Back in November, the mister and I were travelling from North Carolina to Tennessee and decided to make a pit stop in Asheville. We found Blind Tiger Asheville through the World of Hyatt program after seeing what amenities it offered. We can't express enough how pleasant and cozy our stay was. To make it more magical, it snowed the night we stayed. (As out-of-towners from California, it was a treat for us to experience this.) We stayed in the Cúrate room, and boy, it did not disappoint! We were blown away by the beautiful and quaint furnishings and layout of the room. Everything was perfectly placed to make our stay as relaxing as can be. In the words of the mister, "I had the best sleep I've ever had away from home." While enjoying a quick breakfast in the pantry room, we got to chat with one of the hostesses, Erica, who was very pleasant to talk to. Our only regret was that we weren't staying longer. It really was a short and sweet stay, but we know it won't be our last time at Blind Tiger Asheville. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in town. Thank you so much for one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had!!

stayed here for a quick little weekend reset and it was a lovely choice. We will be back! We actually got to check out two different rooms - one in the main house and one in the carriage house, because of a mixup in our booking (we got in late and didn't mind :)). A note to all- be sure to remember it's an old house with lots of steps for your luggage. First room (Krauss) had a larger separate seating area. Whoever designed and decorated this place did an incredible job sourcing high quality and condition beautiful vintage pieces. Everything was a vibe, while maintaining historical quirky charm and adding modern amenities. We moved over to the Five Points room the second night which was in the carriage house. It had a gorgeous fireplace and the bathtub we were excited to take advantage of! Text service was kind, quick and responsible. Everything was maintained great. We can't wait to come back and stay here again. Great location and close to downtown.

Loved this place & its quirkiness. You definitely need to notice the fine print which I may not have fully but isn't a true B&B. However, there are plenty of free breakfast continental items and specialty coffees and teas for your enjoyment. Self service what you want and how ever much you want. Snacks and drinks always available. Saw a staff member 1 time in almost a 2 days; however, the modern & convenient text service works fantastic!! I did have to use & got immediate responses. So you feel like it's your home practically. The bed was super comfy and loved the room. Sink was in the room outside the bathroom which was added quirkiness, but it did have slow backup so we couldn't run the sink hardly. That was only hiccup which wasn't a big deal. You are fairly close to things and definitely short drives to others. Would definitely come back!! And a great price!! Free parking!!

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend and really enjoyed our stay! The property is so quaint, beautiful, and well-maintained. Our room was very comfortable and the bed was one of the best we've had at a hotel. Complimentary snacks and drinks was a lovely touch and breakfast in the morning was convenient. The breakfast options are limited but served our purposes as we had early mornings. The location is great and the property is just a few minutes from downtown Asheville. We highly recommend staying here and would stay here again if traveling to Asheville!

But everything else was a solid 3. Nothing wrong with it at all... But, I was underwhelmed based on my previous experiences. When we checked in, the host was fine. The room was fine. The bathroom did leave some things to be desired. There was not a good place to put your toiletries. We also had to climb into a very deep bathtub to get to the shower... If you are clumsy, like me, you may walk away with a couple of bruises. The house itself was very pretty, and was decorated in a manner appropriate for the property. I would've liked to seen some warm blanket to sit out on the patio with, board games, or puzzles to pass the time. There was only one sofa, and it was not in a cozy little nook where you would want to hang out. The food was fine. The menu is heavy on carbs and sweet breakfast treats. They were executed well enough. But there was not any particular breakfast that knocked my socks off. Again it was fine. The location was very convenient to downtown Asheville. It would be a two minute drive or a 10 minute walk to downtown Asheville. This bed-and-breakfast did not appear to be owned and operated by the hosts, rather an absentee corporation or business. I think that made the difference. Everything was fine, but it didn't have that touch of home that you expect when you stay at a bed and breakfast. For example, when we wanted to use the television, and needed some assistance, when we called the number that was left, the call was blocked. On a whim , we texted Fortunately, they responded right away. But ultimately, after 6 PM you are on your own in terms of staffing. Overall, I can recommend Beaufort House, but I think next time I will try something different.

However, I was expecting this to be a special and elegant experience and it was not. When we arrived during the specific check in time the door was locked and no one was in the front office. It turns out they were showing someone else to their room but we didn't know that. We just stood out on the porch not knowing what to do until someone finally came to the door. There's no reason they couldn't have the front door unlocked during the limited window of check in time. The person who showed us around said there would be "heavy continental breakfast ". However, it turned out the breakfast was probably the very absolute minimum they could provide and still call it breakfast. It was very disappointing. If I'm not mistaken it was only available from 8:30 until 9:30 or something very limited like that. Finally, there was no lotion in our bathroom, only shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. I would stay there again but I would have to weigh the options of amenities and prices of other hotels. A regular mid price hotel has more amenities than what was offered when we stayed.

The Inn is perfectly located, just a short walk and even shorter drive/uber to downtown. The room we stayed in was adorable and super comfy. We loved the furnishings, soft sheets and towels on the bed, etc. But, the in-room gas fireplace was by far my favorite amenity -- I found myself not even wanting to venture out but rather sit in the room warming my feet by the fire. (Don't worry though, we went out!) Throughout our stay, it was fun to discover all the hidden treats in the common areas. There were homemade cookies and chocolate in every nook and cranny of the place! Breakfast was amazing and prepared fresh each morning. Lots of helpful info way of pamphlets and brochures are all over the Inn but if you need any advice, I'd encourage you to just chat with Emilie. (The others are more luxe, such as the Parisian room or the Moroccan themed room). We loved our room, which is set off from the main house and looks like a log cabin. Tom is a gregarious innkeeper and makes lovely and thoughtful breakfasts. Breakfast is taken in common areas of the inn, such as the solarium or the library, on trays. We took ours into the solarium, where we had a nice view of the beautiful Japanese garden landscaping. I think people are put off by the complicated pricing structure (for instance, it is possible to book w/o spa treatments but it's hard to tell from the website) or the mystery surrounding the reservations process. It is true that some rooms do not have their showers (all have whirlpool tubs in-room) and that the shower for those rooms is located in a common area. However, the biggest issue is that the property does not currently reflect the photos shown online. When we arrived around 1pm, there was no one available to check us in and no answer when we called. We ended up leaving and returning a couple of hours later after finally hearing back. While waiting on the porch, we noticed several items left out--loose baseboard trim, a broom, a bag of cement, and a detached flexible downspout in the walkway--which immediately gave the impression that the property wasn't being actively maintained. The outdoor areas continued that theme. The side yard and fire pit area looked like they hadn't been used or maintained in some time, with weeds growing through the pebble ground, empty or dead plant pots, and older or broken furniture visible around the property. Inside, there are some pieces that reflect the historic character of the home, but the overall decor felt inconsistent. Some furnishings fit the period, while others felt more like standard, dated pieces that didn't contribute to the charm the property is marketed on. For the price, we expected a more polished and cohesive experience--especially when compared to nearby properties like The Black Walnut Bed & Breakfast, which appeared noticeably well maintained. Overall, we left feeling that the listing photos--many of which appear to be from prior ownership--don't accurately represent the current condition. With attention to upkeep and updated photos, this could be a much stronger experience.

Our room was spacious, pretty, quiet, and relaxing. My sister had an adjoining smaller room and it was fun in the evenings to keep the door open before we went to sleep. Sitting on the inn porch in the evenings was delightful. We chose to stay in Montford instead of right downtown at the suggestion of a local friend. While you can't walk outside and immediately have a dozen restaurants around within a few blocks, there are a couple of good restaurants within a few minutes walk and downtown starts 10 or 15 minutes walk away. In return, you get a quieter leafy neighborhood with lovely architecture that's nice for a morning stroll. Plus we got restaurant delivery a couple of times and ate on the inn porch! Note that rooms are on the 2nd or 3rd floor, and there are stairs up to the main entrance. Before coming, I read that the Gingerbread House competition had just ended and that the displays were still up. When we arrived, I didn't realize parking was now paid $30 which was surprising since the first time we visited it was free. Walking up to the hotel is impressive on its own. Seeing how this massive structure was built out of stone so long ago is amazing. Inside, there was a video playing that explained how the hotel was constructed, which was very informative. The roof being made of solid concrete to help make the building waterproof was especially interesting. When you walk through the front doors, the entry is grand and open, with huge fireplaces on both sides. The gingerbread house displays were spread across two floors and were absolutely incredible. It's amazing to see the talent, from young adults to experienced artists. Some of the displays look incredibly realistic. I added photos, and hopefully the video of the grand prize winner shows as well, it's truly impressive. I was really looking forward to my spa day. I had called a month before and was told they were booked for everything, but a wrap service. I booked myself a 80 min wrap and my husband a day pass at the spa. My husband wasn't nearly as excited as I was, especially when he learned it would be an electronics free day. He purchased a book at the spa gift shop to get him thru, but if you're someone who doesn't like a day of relaxation I'd recommend getting a book ahead of time. The spa itself is full of many different pools inside and then a smaller pool outside. I spent most my time laying on the outside deck near the pool. It was cooler in the morning but then the sun came out in the afternoon and it got pretty warm out there so I was thankful to have some cooler pools to jump in. My wrap was amazing. When Sarah came to get me for my appointment I told her I originally wanted a massage and she told me she could switch my appointment to that, which was interesting since the front desk did not give me that option both on the phone and when i checked in. I stuck with the wrap which also included a massage and it was the most relaxing 80 minutes ever. I'd book the same exact service again and request Sarah. I also had the avocado toast at the outdoor pool, which was so so. My husband said his poke bowl wasn't much better. Our room was outdated as we had heard. I dont think I would have been happy spending a week there, but it was fine for a night. We grabbed an early reservation at the sunset terrace for dinner. The view was incredible and the food (filet, salad and shrimp cocktail) was fine like the rest of our experience. Our room did come with buffet breakfast. I wasn't too hungry to enjoy it, but my husband seemed to really like it. I'm glad we got a spa day so would possibly book again if I wanted to enjoy another one while in the area, but wouldn't book the hotel on it's own.
