The lake itself was a sight to see. The lack of shade was killing my skin but it was fun. Fishing is fishing, lots of waiting lol. It did get packed pretty fast and people were sitting/standing pretty close to one another. Lines were crossed multiple times. There was jetskiers and people swimming right where we were fishing. There's a literal pole and signs that's supposed to separate the fishermen and swimmers. Other than that it was a good time. read more

We went to a park not listed on Yelp called "Perret Park". it had a nice little playground for the kids and a beach area. it could have used more seating areas around the playground and the beach. it did have a couple of picnic tables and benches but it definitely could have used more, especially if you were in the need to social distance. the restrooms smelled dirty, we didn't use them, we were unatracted by the stink. it did say they were supposed to be locked and you had to ask a security to open them. well there was no security guard to be seen and the doors were wide opened. the beach was filled with windsurfers which were quite a sight to see. plenty of parking as well. as enticing as the water and beach area looked to jump in and swim, i don't know how much i would trust a lake to be clean enough to swim in. read more

This review is for the short 3 mile round trip (Lake Elsinore Levee Walk) on the side of the lake. My initial thought as I started walking was the lake was too close to civilization. The water doesn't seem to be maintained and doesn't look clean. This is comparing to the other lakes I went to in the past few weeks: Castaic Lake, Lake Hodge, Lake Perris. As you continue walking further where the lake starts to open up, that's where the views are better. I ended up just sitting on the bench and absorbing the surroundings. You could continue to walk further in but not sure if it'll be any different. I'm sure it's still a nice place for a walk with your family and friends. Free parking too! read more

Do NOT come Here! Lake Elsinore in general has nothing and I mean nothing to offer. It is not a place were you want to raise or bring children. Especially not to a dangerously contaminated lake. The smell is overwhelming, and the piles of dead fish on the shore and flies is just gross. The water is completely green, everything that touches it is either dead or dying. It is very sad to see a lake in such bad shape... but I guess it comes with the territory. The city of Lake Elsinore needs to wake up and do something about all of the issues (drugs, homelessness, cleanliness, damaged homes, damaged buildings, damaged lake)... Again just stay away, if the water doesn't get you, the people around the area will...not safe. read more

Haven't been down to the lake but drove along the highway above it. Coming into Lake Elsinore from Dana Point is a beautiful drive. But lot's of motorcycles speed past on the way. It's a nice drive if you're looking to relax. But if you have motion sickness, be careful as the roads are very windy. read more

A simple yet elegant lake in Lake Elsinore. It looks like they let you do bonfires which is nice. It's obviously not a beach so the waves are not too strong. I've seen people do jet skis and boating. The view is very serene with free parking. read more

Came to Walker Canyon super bloom on Feb 28. Very little people out on the trail. By the time I went down the trail around 2-3pm people had started to arrive. The trail is a great workout. Many options to go up the path, do wear bug spray/cream and sunblock. Please bring water as it gets really hot and hiking shoes to be on the safe side. The flowers are so beautiful to see, once in a bloom moon. Park in the designated area or your car will be towed or ticketed. Now it's crazy. Do not go on the weekend. Parking is crazy. People are mad. Many people trample on the flowers. It's unfortunate how so many ruin it for others. Stay in the trail path. They are charging $10 for parking. read more

I'm going to be real with you. The place is not as bad as people say the east side of the lake( older) is outdated. But the west side of the lake (newer) has more to offer. And they have a great baseball stadium. The area is very spacious with great views. No this is not a city looking area but it's a good middle point to travel between San Diego, the beaches, or LA. Well it doesn't smell like Salton Sea that's for sure. Can you swim? Heck the warning sign clearly tells you not to wade or swim here. Is it safe? Well you'll never have to worry about tsunami or sharks. Can you fish here? Sure, but would you actually eat anything you catch here? Plus there's catch & release rule in order to control the fish population. This place does get chilly and windy during the spring season, so make sure to bring a jacket. read more

Ahhhhh Lake Elsinore. Once upon a time, for a summer or two, it was actually fun and safe to go. No bums, diapers, needles or dead fish How could that be??!! Loooooong looooooong ago... The memories get misty, but I still recall: The Lake was low (or dry, can't remember), so they had these pumping stations that pumped fresh water into the lake area, way off to the side of the Lake. Little fresh water places where it was shallow and clean enough for little kiddies. Can you imagine? It was like a dream. Butterflies and cotton candy. A glass bottle soda from the soda machine at the gas station on the way home. Ahh sweet, sweet youth. Then, to my horror, a Flood, sometime around then, flooded the Lake, and it became gross. Dead fish gross. Algae gross. Candy Cigarette and Pixie Stick wrappers everywhere gross. Goodbye fun clean water play. :-( Fast forward like 100 years, and I went back the other day. Ahhh.... What can I say? Scary looking guys hanging around the women's toilets close to the Lake. No doors on the toilets. Exactly 5 small groups of people on the "beach" areas. Contrast the mind numbing breeding of housing tracts that try to say: "Hey, it's ok to live here *wink*wink*" And the same old shanties with shifty eyed looking people shuffling around the streets on the far side of the lake. Can we take our hats off and bow our heads in silence for a minute, for those two magical summers. Bless you, amen read more

Needed a break from traffic on the 15, so I grabbed a camera and exited out here with some overreaching hopes. Literally nothing to do except sit in chairs and cast a fishing pole. Thats all anyone was doing. The first spot I was at was called Whisker's Beach or something. And it was just people sitting in their folding chairs right on the "shore" with fishing poles. There was nothing else. Oh, there was a bit of trash on the ground though. And some guy yelled at another guy to move his truck off the sand because it was private property. The second spot looked like it was along a running/biking trail. There were picnic tables. And there was a boat launch but it was not open, and was blocked off with permanent concrete barriers. Soooooo all the bad things I've heard about Lake Elsinore lake are pretty much true. read more

Go see the poppies in Lake Elsinore! Take the 15 to Lake St, turn towards the hillside where it ends with free parking and a hike to see the blooms! Poppies close when it's cloudy so keep that in mind when you visit. Mid day is best. The blooms are numerous right now and are both orange and some yellow. Bring a camera, water, and wear tennis shoes...enjoy! read more

I do not scare easily. I don't scream over bugs, fog or heights. I do have a tiny clean fetish but I am not OCD. I do however find it hard to wrap my head around a recreation area that is 100% 3rd-world-style FILTHY. Worst boat launch ramp in the world. I've literally never seen so many idiots in one place. Just row after row of tore up jet skis and ragged boats inherited from dead uncles. No law there. People speed in no wake zone at 50mph and do donuts. Nobody knows how to drive their boat. They all tie off and abandon their sh*tty pontoons and fifty dollar jet skis and disappear into the trailer park so nobody can launch. NO STAFF ON RAMP MANAGING. Staff at ramp (if you ever see them ) are always sitting on their tail under their tent doing absolutely nothing. Sheriff isn't doing their part patrolling water. Beware. Definitely not a relaxing place to go boating. Super super dangerous. And the water is disgusting but that's a whole other story. read more

This review is on my new find, the Lakepoint Park which is on the north-east shore of Lake Elsinore on junction Lakeshore Dr/E Lakeshore Dr. It is a good place to go with kids or having group parties. The park is separated from water by a chicken fence. There are plenty of trees/shade and some barbecue pits. The best (for kids) is the play-structure and slides which are covered with huge umbrellas -- its nice that some cities think of protecting the little kids from sunburn. There is plenty of parking because all the other folks are just north at the Swick and Matich Park (either launching boats or tanning on beach) The sunday we made our trip to this park, there were two back-to-back soccer games. And at the north end of the park, there was a stall selling yummy yummy treats - * mangoes (which she sliced like fries and then put them in a plastic bag and topped them with real lemon and a spice mix) - for just $2.50 * I also loved her tostida-mix!!! (she took a bag of tostitos chips, cut the edge length wise, and on top of chips, she put chopped cucumbers and jicama and then topped it with real lemon, three types of spicy maxican red sauces and sprinkled salt-mix on top) - yum-yum for a price of $4 * for kids there were at least two ice-cream vendors selling all kinds of bars, though kids just need chocolate. . . . Perfect place and stuff to make the kids happy, where parents can have a well-deserved breather and enjoy cool breeze off the lake. read more

I grew up visiting Lake Elsinore in the 60s and early 70s, no live in Colorado, The RV park we stayed in was very nice however, lake was poisoned and couldn't do any fishing. Town was ok, lots restaurants and some heavy traffic areas due to road construction , I noted a couple streets off main drag prohibited vehicles over 4 tons which was a problem for a 5.5 ton RV. California seems to have homeless everywhere where we visited. read more

We have been going to Lake Hemet for quite some time and for the past 3-4 times we have been disappointed with the ever changing rules that are good for some patrons vs other patrons which has made our experience non inclusive. Last I heard in we still had the Right to FREE speech and expression. We have host Nazis that tell us we can't enjoy the peaceful tranquility of camping out because we can't do this and we can't do that because it is offensive to others as we had been accused of being too noisy while others are still making noise. We can't have too many campers on a site as we never had concerns before as long as we were comfortable as a group. The last straw has been when a TRUMP flag was considered offensive and it has to be removed or else the Sheriff was going to be called because the flag was considered offensive even though there was no vulgarity displayed. Who does that to a consumer? This affects my whole experience as I come to get away from all the political BS in the world and now I have to deal with it while camping. I am so disappointed, that I would suggest camping elsewhere. read more

Lake Elsinore was once a place where my parents planned on purchasing some investment property. Fast forward 15 or so years... I'm glad they did not. This is a very dead town. There's almost nothing to do and I would not swim in the waters here. People wash their clothes in it, they dump their boat sewage into it, they do all sorts of nasties with the water here. Although it's been "cleaned" several times, I still would not risk swimming in Lake Elsinore. You'll find that this semi-developed community doesn't have much to offer. Cheap homes maybe, but the commute back to civilization is quite far! read more

People shouldn't compare Lake Elsinore with something that is equivalent to a 5 star Hawaii resort. It is a low income city and it is one of a very few natural lakes in California. Average housing cost is approximately $60k so start your judgment from there. This town has great potential and the little mom and pop businesses are great. There are efficient stores and recreational activities for non pretentious people who loves the outdoors and would embrace the perks of a small town. read more
