Park for free on the street, walk up to the hut in your swimsuit and flip flops and water bottle and you are set to go baby! They will take an ID from you and direct you to the beach shore where an employee will set you up in a one or two person kayak, show you the correct way to paddle, and push you off. Go to the left and under the bridge and you are in the calm waters of Dune Bay. Want more excitement--then go to the right into the marina and battle the currents--that's how you build arm strength! and courage keeping your distance from the boats. We did both and had a great time. When you return--look for the Return Here sign, paddle hard and beach the craft, and an employee will hold the kayak while you get out. Go back to the hut and get your ID back and pay. Most peeps stay out 1-2 hours. After 2 hours your arms are tired unless you just go into Dune Bay and relax and let the current take you wherever. After you pay go to the foot wash off to get the sand off, then walk to the restrooms and full out door fresh water shower. You did it! Tell all your friends that you got away from the Pirates! ---------- Just some notes: 1. Make sure you go to the restroom Before getting in the kayak--there are no restrooms on board (or food service). 2. And wear a swimsuit--I have never been on a kayak where you don't sit in a puddle of water and get splashed a bit. 3. And NEVER stand up in the kayak--it will turn over. 4. Do not kayak during a hurricane even if the Pirates say it's okay.

Decided to plan a paddle board rental and beach day with friends for a birthday surprise. If you're planning something like this, I also recommend a patio lunch at the Rooftop Lounge as it is not far either from theLaguna Beach location where we met Erin. We were a small group of four and she accommodated us perfectly. The weather was perfect this week so we didn't need to adjust the time of the excursion either so we enjoyed an early evening two-hour rental. The sunset-ish vibes were incredible too, to be on the ocean. She met us and had our boards and paddles, dry bag (if needed), and our floatation safety equipment on the beach ready for us. She guided us with specific instructions to get out over the waves. She then walks us out with our board and makes sure we go out one-by-one. It was such a rush to get over those waves, because I admit, the ocean can be intimidating. All the places I've swam before, I've never really encountered waves this big or a boat dropped me off to snorkel. Waves are just another element. The best advice was being on our knees and just digging the paddle into the water as fast as possible and next thing I know, we are all out in the ocean having the best time! The experience is amazing and we haven't laughed like this in a long while. I stood up to paddle board only twice, but I fell on the first try. I admit, I felt much more comfortable paddling while on my knees. It was perfect. Note: SAFELY return to shore, come in one-at-a-time as Erin instructs. She and a lifeguard were amazing and helped us return. For me, it was much needed. I am so thankful for their assistance. Those waves, man oh man, a big lesson for me that day, but we are all still reeling, laughing and talking about the day. FYI: If choosing a longer rental as we had, I'd recommend using her dry bag and bring water, a small towel (in case you do go in the water and need to dry salt water from eyes as that does sting) Also, use durable ziplocs to secure anything you may get wet. I also had my phone in one of those necklace protector sleeves and it took surprisingly took great photos through the plastic. Reminder for me to also secure the dry bag on the paddle board straps much more securely too as it did get wet, on accident, in the water when I was returning to shore. The waves knocked the bag off the board but easily retrieved. Just wet because I didn't close it properly-oops. Actually, just assume whatever you take into the ocean will get wet. One friend did lose her Ray Bans, but Erin warned us prior. Oops! Nonetheless, the best birthday surprise!!! So much fun!!! I highly recommend a beach day paddle boarding (find an area you're comfortable with the waves though or stick to the harbor). Don't hesitate to check with Erin because she is so helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you again, Erin, for such a great beach experience.

Wow. Two words, professional and fun!!…read more Recently came here sporadically with a good friend because she purchased a paddleboarding groupon. Her other friend bailed, so I became the lucky candidate. Fine by me, I said! Not knowing what to expect. My boyfriend wanted to come along too, and George, the owner have him a reduced price which was very very nice of him so that we all three could enjoy the experience and all have fun. Let me tell you... I was blown away with how qualified and well-rounded George was and immediately felt secure since he knew exactly what he was doing! They provided us with the boards and paddles and he helped each of us get on while instructing us how to paddle and maneuver the board, before eventually leading us away. He was kind enough to help us all when we needed it, and made for such a wonderful memorable experiment by snapping photos that I'll always remember. It was difficult and scary at first, but it became easier as I conquered my fear. Now, I actually want to get better and come again! Hopefully work up to doing more on the board and hopefully without life jacket next time lol. I'm definitely bringing friends and coming back! So much fun!

So I asked my other friend to come along and her boyfriend wanted to come try it out too. On the morning of our reservation, I was slightly bummed that it was typical Oceanside "May Gray" weather although it's March! However, I get to the place a little early and was waiting for my fashionably late friends, so I decided to go and meet George! He's a 6X World Guinness Record holder, Cycling Instructor, and Retired DEA! I'm sure I'm missing more of his accolades, as if this list wasn't intimidating enough! Nonetheless, he is NOT an intimidating person at all! After my tardy for the party friends got there, we all headed down to the dock right there in front of Jolly Roger's to get started on our paddleboarding excursion! I was slightly worried for my friend because she can only kinda swim, but there's a life jacket if needed. George took our photo and it was my turn to get on the board! I was the same nervous excited like I get on a first date, but I had my friends there too, so it was more excitement!We all get out on the water, accomplished! Then it was time to get on our feet! Oh crap was going through my mind, but I figured here we go! I took about maybe a total of 5 secs on the board before falling in! George was so nice to help me get my ass on the board, which isn't as easy as it looks, but then again I haven't worked out in a year, sooo it was a struggle! George was there the whole 20 minutes of me trying to get back on the board, but was so nice and professional because he was so worried I was going to get sick or really cold due to my whole body going in for a sea water bath! After all that's said and done, I had such a wonderful time! My friends were a little better at it than me, but that just means I have to come back again and show them up!
