I dropped off some blankets, jackets, and dog food that will assist homeless and their pets this Winter. I started with one bag, as I wasnt sure where I was going. When I found the box, it was behind a desk in the lobby, off to the side. The woman at the desk was on the phone, so I waited. Someone else came out, and took my bag - and I stated I would be back with some more. When I returned, she was still on the phone so I waited. I didnt want to just drop the donations and leave. Someone else came out and helped me... everyone was very friendly, and working very hard. It sounds like there are a lot of events that go on here, and I am curious what all those are. I will do some research online. Not sure if there was a small library, or work space here, but it was nice and cozy looking.

I am assuming they mean there is no shade for the playground, which is true. No shade for the playground and no shade on the benches next to the playground. The rest of the park there are lots of trees for shade. However, if one is willing to sit on the grass instead of the bench, there are trees for shade next to the playground where you can still watch your kids but you would need to bring a towel and sit on grass instead of a bench.

The venue we rented out was the San Juan Capistrano Community Center. The customer service is horrible. They act all nice but when you actually ask for something, they throw out the passive aggressive act. EX: I asked for a round table for the buffet area. My contact said "no problem". I talk to the tech guy/supervisor (no idea who he is) and he said "we don't do that but OK, we'll make an exception" and he looked exasperated. I told him I told someone two days ago so it was definitely not last minute. EX: The sound system has been purchased two years ago and they still don't have a cable from the laptop or projector program to their own sound system. I ask him what it's called and the tech guy repeatedly said "I don't know". Sigh. EX. The lady in charge of the night shift kept saying "you have to stay the whole time. If the rental company stays longer than 10pm (they got there at 9:40) we'll have to overcharge you" She just made it a point to let us know she might overcharge us. ARGH! Everything else was fine but THEY made the whole experience tense.

But if you don't have access, there are three computers available after you walk through the waiting area that you can use. I went in the afternoon during the week and it was incredibly quick; hardly anyone waiting. They accept cash or credit card, and you can always ask ahead if they take personal checks, money orders, or cashier's checks. The school lacked patience, and an inclusive approach to young children with different developmental needs. Most disappointing was the disconnect between the values the school claims to represent and the way our family was treated. Despite its connection to the JCC, we did not experience the compassion, acceptance, or sense of community that we associate with Jewish values. In contrast, Temple Beth El in Aliso Viejo welcomed our youngest son with warmth, kindness, and genuine support. They took the time to build a relationship with him and our family, and he is thriving there today. We saw a huge difference in just a few months. I can't even imagine why my son was so upset at the JCC and so happy at TBESOC. The difference between the two experiences has been absolutely remarkable- down to the background and tenure of the teachers. If you want a school that promotes actual Jewish values and truly cares for your children, Aronoff school is NT it.
