It is a nine hole course that can be played back to back for 18. No major water hazards, but the woods will keep anybody, but a straight driver, searching. One of my favorite features, however is the clubhouse. Yes there is a pro shop and you can get some basic refreshments but what you MUST do after your game is sit in one of the many rocking chairs that bedeck the wrap around porch, marvel at the decades of markings in the old wooden floor from years of spikes trodding on them and enjoy the spectacular view of plum lake!

Such a BEAUTIFUL place to play golf. So well maintained…read more Greens definitely have some undulations, but are quick, and roll well. Fairways are lush and wide enough to be fair. Balls off line will be lost in the woods in a lot of cases, but there are generous landing areas. Great place. Worst part of the day was the bar wasn't open when we finished at 11:15 so no after golf cocktails lol. Get out and play it.... you won't be sorry.

The woman at the counter was not all that friendly..it just might be her nature. The grass was mediocre. They put styrofoam in the flag holes and if the last guy didnt put them in properly..you might miss out your hole in one. The course manager was quite friendly.

The pro in the shop was one of the worst people ever. I can't believe any one in the PGA would let this guy TONY talk to any customers. The course was not in good shape. The bar was closed and no snacks or even a coke or water was available. If they did a complete over hall with staff it might get a 2 star. I will not be coming back here anytime. To many other places to play where the staff appreciates the guest.

Bait and switch - Avoid. We recently booked a tee time for…read moretwo people for nine holes at Trout Lake. We've played the course many times and enjoy it. This was our last trip to Trout Lake. We booked online and confirmed at a price of $50. As you can see in the attached picture, it shows $50 due at course. When we arrived at the course they told us the price went up that very day and they would not honor our confirmed price of $50, but instead would have to pay $90 if we wanted to golf. They understood we booked for $50, but they would not honor it, due to their new "dynamic pricing". The second picture explains that. This isn't about the money. This is about the principle. What if our hotel did that? We book for $100 per night, and when we get there they tell us the price went up and it would be $200? Dynamic pricing sounds a lot like surge pricing for Uber. The major difference, Uber is clear you're paying surge pricing up front. They don't quote you at a $50 ride and when the driver pulls up says, "just kidding, that will be $90". If you want to avoid a bait and switch, avoid Trout Lake Golf Club.

Great golf course. Disappointing customer service…read more We played a round on 07/22/24. Unbeknownst to us, the course is undergoing a massive renovation project and several of the holes were significantly shortened due to the renovation work. No mention of this on their website. Staff only mentioned some renovation work AFTER we had paid. Even though we did not get to experience the entire course (courtesy of several of the holes having temporary tees in the fairway, in each case, about 150 to 200 yards ahead of where the tee boxes normally are), we paid full price. When we called to complain, they told us all tees and greens are accessible (a false statement) and no discount would be offered. Golf courses typically provide advance notice of greens being aerated and usually offer a discount when greens are aerated. Any course (other than Trout Lake, apparently), will most definitely provide its customers with advance notice of massive renovation work and offer a discount. Trout Valley apparently has no problem pulling a bait and switch on its customers - this was an unfortunate experience. Sadly, we will not return. It's a great course, but customer service is an afterthought.

It is a very unique experience and all of the staff do a great job of making the place feel like home. I would like to give a special shout out to one of the front desk ladies named Leslie. Every time we go, she is always there and she's awesome. She is one of the main reasons the resort runs so smoothly. She knows what she's doing and she's always very helpful and on top of things. Overall the resort is very clean and a great place to vacation to.

My food didn't have items it said it came with and it was way too garlicky (Mac and cheese). Now this is out of anyone control and was just a design flaw when they built it but it's such a hike to get to the rooms (at least the mountain haus) I have to make sure I don't get hit by skiers on the lift while lugging my shit up to my room. It's a hill, it's snowy, slushy, icey I get it's a mountain I get it but somehow it's gotta be easier to lug that shit up! It's dog friendly (great) no where to really take them to use the bathroom though u have to walk through snow, salt ( bad for their paws) or up the mountain and get hit by skiers or get tired hiking up lol. Maybe make a designated area idk. Rooms are fine generally speaking they tried to give upgrades to hide age fine but maybe put effort in? U can tell they wanted to spend the least amount of money and hired unqualified people. The entire floor everywhere throughout the house was covered in some kind of dust particle it made all my socks dirty but if u don't wear socks your feet get dirty and grimy and I don't wanna wear shoes I only brought boots my feet get hot. I know it's hotel style but the mountain haus has HOUSE in the name it has a full kitchen provide more pans pots etc. no garbage bags either just th one shitty thin one. You need to provide more for the shitty reservations u did but the prices don't reflect the age/ work. The dishwasher wasn't emptied upon arrival and many dishes left dirty also makes a lot of noises so does the heating units the beds also definitely aren't fully clean they leave some sheets out of the wash. OMG dead bugs by all the heaters too didn't get a picture bc I was livid and cleaned them up right away. This place sucks don't waste your money unless you're fine with dirty accommodations. Workers were also just mingling while I'm clearly standing at your desk needing help. Did not like my experience here at all.
