The other half of our family stayed in one of the newer modular home rooms just outside the main lodge near the golf course. That room was really nice, and clean except for the floor. Since these rooms are so far from the main lodge, they should consider putting a mini fridge with a freezer and ice cube trays in the room. They should also have extra linens and extra toilet paper on hand. Overall the modular home was nice and clean, and the noise wasn't too loud. I do want to give a shout out to Leslie, the hotel's rooms director. She resolved an issue with our room quickly and professionally after some confusion with our online booking. There's a pool and a small arcade area for kids. We only used the arcade, didn't try the pool, but it looked very nice. We didn't eat at the restaurant. Fun fact: there are tons of deer in the area, and they don't seem to be afraid of cars, so be careful driving. Pricing was fair, but they really need to invest in the property and improve the rooms and facilities overall. read more

Where to start. We had great hopes of a great stay and weekend In Iron Mountain. We already know the new owners of the resort seem to be hands off and letting it just run like a dirty brothel. our room was small, dirt, dust everywhere. The beds are all Fulls no queens. The bathrooms were dank and dirty. The shampoos and conditioners were empty. Shower wasn't clean, mildew on the walls. The door for the bathroom got us stuck in the bathroom more than once. The weird thing was the employees are young attractive girls no men found while we were there. The men there were older adults hitting on the female staff. Just a creepy. We felt out of place being LGBTQIA+. lots of my res hat wearing families and men at the resort. The over all resort was rundown and in desperate need of repairs And updates. Desk attendant was very friendly and helpful. Elevator was small and scary. The air conditioner was held in the window with duck tape and plywood. Wires hung from the ceiling to tv. The prepackaged coffee condiments were already open and missing the creamer. There was 1 cup, 4 cup sleeves and 3 lids. There were 2 large towels and 2 hand towels. If reserving a room for 2 adults, I would expect a "resort" to ensure that the room is adequately prepared to host 2 people. The attached restaurant, Famers, serves food. I would suggest driving to the other side of town and eating at Holiday Kitchen. Famers had poor service and not the greatest food, but maybe the waitress forgot to grab it from the kitchen when it was still warm. read more

Place is old and in need of severe updating. We had a family wedding and reserved several rooms and cabins. It started with overbooking the cabins which caused a last minute panic for several guests. Rooms were filthy. Several guests were charged an "early check in fee" for 50 min before the posted check in time. At check out, guests were also charged a fee for not booking directly with the hotel. The link to book was included with the wedding invite and that was the link used. BE CAUTIOUS! They will try to charge extra for anything they can. This place was very dirty and smelly. Rooms are small. There are much better options in the area. read more

First and foremost our check in time was 4pm. We did not get a call until 8pm that our room was ready. When we got into it. The floor was very sticky with something. They offered us 30$ a night off. Mind you we paid 360 a night for a 2 bedroom condo. There was NO washer and dryer (this is suppose to be a condo. ) The shower had bars for handicap accessibility but not easy access into or out of plus no shower chair. I booked a reservation at the Pine Mountain Resort to go home for a family reunion. When booking, I was prompted to upgrade to a cabin. For $140.00, it made perfect sense to have a sitting room and patio. The upgrade is included in my reservation details with the selected dates and additional upgrade charge. During check-in I was told the upgrade only applies if it is available. I was confused as to how I was able to book the cabin upgrade if it wasn't available. I was told that is listed in the fine print reservation details. Note, I was not charged the upgrade fee, just misled that I would have it. Another issue is the room cleanliness. The floor was filthy and room service is only available on request. After day two, I stopped by the service desk to ask about room service. As I was waiting in line, two ladies were having the same "upgrade" discussion with the staff. They were told the same nonsense about "availability". Confused like I was, the lady asked how she should reserve the cabin to make sure it would be available if she were to come back again. The response was the same, "you only get the upgrade if it's available". The "Cabin Upgrade" was the primary reason I choose to stay at the Pine Mountain Lodge. I will not be back. Pine mountain is always one of my family and I's favorite place to go in the winter time. They have a wide variety of runs and both my kids enjoy skiing in the woods. It is a very unique experience and all of the staff do a great job of making the place feel like home. I would like to give a special shout out to one of the front desk ladies named Leslie. Every time we go, she is always there and she's awesome. She is one of the main reasons the resort runs so smoothly. She knows what she's doing and she's always very helpful and on top of things. I think it's easier to share what was good rather than bad lol. We were there for Xmas Eve-Saturday (today) i understand the restaurant just got going again new menu whatever but that's your job you should've been training on your new systems and leaning the menu somewhat which for the most part I think they understand they just have poor time management maybe I'm not sure. The service really wasnt that slow for new menu etc our waitress was kind and very apologetic and tried to take the time to make sure she got everything correct she was great! My food didn't have items it said it came with and it was way too garlicky (Mac and cheese). Now this is out of anyone control and was just a design flaw when they built it but it's such a hike to get to the rooms (at least the mountain haus) I have to make sure I don't get hit by skiers on the lift while lugging my shit up to my room. It's a hill, it's snowy, slushy, icey I get it's a mountain I get it but somehow it's gotta be easier to lug that shit up! It's dog friendly (great) no where to really take them to use the bathroom though u have to walk through snow, salt ( bad for their paws) or up the mountain and get hit by skiers or get tired hiking up lol. Maybe make a designated area idk. Rooms are fine generally speaking they tried to give upgrades to hide age fine but maybe put effort in? U can tell they wanted to spend the least amount of money and hired unqualified people. The entire floor everywhere throughout the house was covered in some kind of dust particle it made all my socks dirty but if u don't wear socks your feet get dirty and grimy and I don't wanna wear shoes I only brought boots my feet get hot. I know it's hotel style but the mountain haus has HOUSE in the name it has a full kitchen provide more pans pots etc. no garbage bags either just th one shitty thin one. You need to provide more for the shitty reservations u did but the prices don't reflect the age/ work. The dishwasher wasn't emptied upon arrival and many dishes left dirty also makes a lot of noises so does the heating units the beds also definitely aren't fully clean they leave some sheets out of the wash. OMG dead bugs by all the heaters too didn't get a picture bc I was livid and cleaned them up right away. This place sucks don't waste your money unless you're fine with dirty accommodations. Workers were also just mingling while I'm clearly standing at your desk needing help. Did not like my experience here at all. read more

Pine Mountain Lodge is a fairly old place, though it's in good repair. We took a "two-bedroom suite" and got that and no more. The bedrooms were small and there was exactly one (uncomfortable) chair in total. The restaurant was OK, but the service was slow. read more

I have gone here for the past 7 years for the golf stay and play. The staff was great as usual, but the course was in terrible shape with dry and cracked spots on the greens, tee boxes with pivots all over and not being repaired. Then you could not get any beers but some brand nobody has heard of and did not taste good. This made us not stay in the bar to eat and have a few drinks or get any drinks on the golf course. We will not be back anytime soon. We usually do a yearly trip but no longer. read more

Like other reviewers, if I could give this place negative stars, I would. The premium room that I paid for was dirty, old and in need of updating. The walls are so paper-thin that I could hear the guy next door snoring. We could hear the people in the next unit talking as if they were in our unit, and they were not talking loudly. The fireplace was "cosmetic only" - apparently the owners cannot afford the insurance policy on the place so that the fireplaces work. The website states that the fireplaces work but that is not true. Don't waste your money staying here. We had to leave after only one night, and our anniversary trip was RUINED. read more

We stayed at Pine Mountain from 8/15/23 to 9/17/23. We had rooms 320 and 318. We had a lovely stay there. Emily, Lindsay and Patty are lovely ladies to have for front desk staff. Very accommodating, kind and friendly. The only issue we had was in Room 320. We had to switch rooms because our 98 year old mother was with us. We needed handicap accessible. Room 318 worked out better for her. The bathroom door in room 320 didn't open without banging into the toilet. I got up to use the bathroom in the night and hit my knee that I had just had replaced, into the glass shower door because the door didn't open. Every time we needed to use the toilet, we had to step into the shower to go in and be able to shut the door. Famer's Restaurant was very nice. Food was very good. Really enjoyed the scenery around the resort and the amenities. read more

Pine Mountain is a great ski hill if you're looking for decent runs but don't way to pay the big-resort prices. We skied there on Christmas Day (I used to ski there more when I still lived in Wisconsin, but this was the first time in a few years). They have some decent runs, and multiple chair lifts to accommodate the runs. When I was there they didn't have all the runs open yet (they hadn't gotten a lot of snow), but they were clearly working on making snow to get fully open. They have a cafeteria area with basic tables and cafeteria chairs, but the food is good enough (as I remember from the past, since they were not open on Christmas, despite their Facebook page saying they would be). There's also a fireplace lounge area as well as a sit-down restaurant. Staff was friendly and helpful when needed. Overall it was a good experience, and a great value for the price. read more

While the hotel itself is nice and clean, the fellow guests ruined the experience. They allowed their children to scream in the halls until nearly midnight, throwing balls, and banging on walls. When we called down to management, they told us they received other complaints, yet did nothing about it. Noise is to be expected at hotels, but this was just utterly disrespectful(this coming from a 22 year old). Management should have worked with the loud parties to relocate, to down to the bar, or quiet down, yet seemed to do nothing. There is a time and a place for noise, and it is NOT in a crowded hotel at midnight. Besides that, we had an excellent time skiing, liked the live music and enjoyed the food at Famers. We also booked a king and were given 2 full sized beds. All in all if your looking for a classic ski experience go during the week, if you're looking to party And not fall asleep until the *ss crack of dawn then the weekend crowd is for you. read more

So this review is not just about the slopes. Will and Michael in the rental ski shop were fantastic! They made fitting our boots a painless process and made it about getting our fun started and off onto the slopes. I was hesitant since I had not skied in more than 12 years. They were patient, understanding and took their time making us comfortable enough to get out onto the slopes outfitted the best way possible. Super fun day and a plus that the slopes were not crowded! Therefore the 5 stars. Now about the slopes. It's a small ski Mountain and having skied in Colorado primarily, it's different. It is packed snow and it can get icy. It is not fresh powder. At least not the day we were there. It was not a crowded day so that was a plus. I can imagine such a small ski resort could get very crowded. I suggest calling and heading out if it's not a super busy day. Parking was easy and free. Short walk to the ski lift and rental spot. Then another short walk to lifts right outside the door of the main lodge. Only 2 out of the 3 lifts were open and at around 4 only 1 remained open and it was plenty. The lift guys were attentive as was the lift guy at the top of the hill watching as you disembark the lift. Overall fun day for less that $90 per adult person ski lift and ski equipment rentals. read more

Timberstone golf course is a perfect 10 as up north 'carved out of the trees' courses go. Narrow tree lined fairways and never ending natural beauty make this a top ten on any Midwest course list and probably nationally. Don't expect scratch golf and bring a few extra balls. read more

The outside and entrance are beautiful in this not so out of the way location near Iron Mountain. Entering the lobby you will feel as though you are in for a great experience at a bargain price. Things change as soon as we entered the closet sized elevator. I received a metal key for the door which I haven't seen in nearly twenty years. The room had a cramped feeling, the TV is not wide screen (how spoiled we've become). These are not too serious and I can live with some outdatedness and the beds were comfortable and the room and bath were clean as expected. Now to something a little more serious. There was no hot water. I let the shower tap run for three minutes and the hot water never arrived. Since the water temp. was not ice cold but more like room temperature I took a shower anyway. After all I've been in third world countries and the army and experienced worse. Figuring perhaps housekeeping should know they may have a problem I went to report the lack of hot water. The desk clerk's answer was ..." oh someone must have took a long shower and it ran out, just wait a few hours." Since the hotel did not appear to have dozens of teens running around that are prone to twenty minute hot showers I can't accept an answer like this. The next excuse was that the hot water heaters for the rooms is in the basement and if there was a real problem the kitchen would not have hot water and they aren't reporting a problem. Jump to the next morning and still no hot water. I got through another room temp shower and wondered what kind of a painful poor shave I could accomplish with cool water and decided to use the coffee maker to run clear water. Before laboring I gave the water another shot and ran the sink tap and suddenly there was hot water. Problem solved? Not quite, that night and the next morning no hot water again. Next situation. There was absolutely no Wi-Fi in the room, also 3G did not register on my device. The restaurant and lobby had a weak Wi-Fi signal and I could squeak by. The next day I did have an urgent message to send and could not find enough strength to send. I asked the desk clerk about the Wi-Fi and I was told .."Go stand in the restaurant.". I wonder where the transmitter was kept as the restaurant signal was one bar, but enough to get by. Some other little problems-The cable reception is sometimes fuzzy and the audio at times cuts out. Not all the channels listed on menu were available . Both nights we stayed we did not hear rowdy guests but there was a mysterious bumping noise and rumbling drifting through the walls. It reminded me of apartment living when someone upstairs would be moving furniture. The grounds are beautiful and be sure to go get some exercise by walking the steep steps next to the lift. read more

We recently visited Pine Mountain Resort for the ski jumping competition. We loved the resort and the accommodations. The resort is under new management and all of the rooms have been renovated. The rooms have a wonderful "lodge feel" and the bathrooms were also nicely renovated. We checked out a few different rooms for future visits. We enjoyed several meals at Famer's. The menu was varied and we had great meals and service. The Bloody Mary's were especially delicious! We also visited the Sitzmark bar in the resort both nights. They had live music each night and we enjoyed dancing! We did not have time to ski but conditions looked amazing and we will definitely ski next time. What we liked most about the resort is everything is under one roof, you never have to leave the grounds. You can swim, ski, eat, drink, dance and sleep. We cannot wait to return. read more

Ski Hill Review (19-20) Until 1-10-20 the hill was in spotty shape despite abundant natural snow and lots of stock-piled man-made snow. Some runs were ungroomed and presented hazards due to large ice chunks and mounds of snow. Beginning on the date above, the entire hill has been groomed and is in good shape. This place is terrible. If I could rate it at zero stars I would. My daughter was asked to leave because she didn't have her mask up when she was in the lunch line in the cafeteria. She just turned 16 and her mask was around her neck. Snow conditions were poor and staff was very rude and short sided. Kids make mistakes and I realize the fear of Covid, but cmon. Overpriced for what you get. Can't wait for Ski Brule to hopefully open back up next season. I will never recommend this resort to anyone I know thinking of driving ip from Green Bay. read more

Stayed here during the summer. This is not a review in terms of golfing or skiing. The building and rooms are not in great shape. There's a bit of a musty smell, overall. The bathroom had been remodeled in the room I stayed in, but things were still a rough around the edges. The AC was condensing into the carpet; there were a couple fruit flies; the remote did not work. The upside is that the property is pretty, and you can walk up the slopes for lovely views. The Wi-fi is free and fast. The staff is considerate. read more

The bar and restaurant are fine, but the hotel rooms are in serious need of updates. I wish I would have known I was stepping into a 70's time warp when booking this room. I would have stayed at another facility close to the resort. We were staying here for a wedding and the room was quite dated. Updated room for customer would be a plus - I would gladly pay more for an updated room. The tub has chipped paint on in the basin, musty smell throughout the room, blinds couldn't close because they were the wrong size and cigarette burn marks on the carpet. I understand that they have the ski patrons to rely on for business in the winter, but I have a difficult time recommending the facility in the summer. If you don't mind spending $90/night on a mediocre hotel room, this is the place. Also, the prices on the website do not reflect current rates. Highlight of our Spring Break trip to the U.P. Just came to ski...well, really for three kids from Chicago to get their first taste of skiing. Larry, Pam, and Tim were the BEST!! Started by calling Pine Mountain to get some details about coming to ski. I think, because I called in the evening (5 or 6 pm), that I may have gotten someone at the front desk of the resort. Because what I was told on Monday was so different from what I heard once we came to ski on Wednesday. On Monday, I was told, just get the kids the ski lift tickets and let them play around. On Wednesday, I was told, if you gave us 24 hour notice, we could have reserved lessons for the kids. BUT, Larry and Tim went above and beyond by showing the kids the ropes (because the mom - that's me - has never been on skis and it probably just would have been a bad experience for all). They took the time out and were so patient with the kids (two 8 year old boys and a 12 year old girl) that we now have 3 kids who "Love to ski" (after 2 hours on a bunny hill at Pine Mountain) and are looking forward to ski season. I hate that Pine Mountain is 6 hours from home, but the fact that I would even CONSIDER the drive means that these folks were exceptional!! If you are in the U.P. of all of the choices that you have for skiing. I think Pine Mountain is TOPS in terms of service! read more

Pros, Cons, Lots of Photos... Positives This is an old school Michigan motel with ski equipment rentals inside and chairlifts right outside. Free WiFi, indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. Rooms, rentals, and lift tickets are cheap. The food is good and reasonably priced. Everyone is friendly. This is the UP so runs are open here when places farther south are iffy. And it's not that much farther away from Chicago than the Dells. Negatives This is not a Hyatt. Think Motel 6...then go back in time 30 years. That's when 75% of the low def 19" TV's are from. No lie. Not HD. The showers are perfect if you are under 5' tall. The bathroom doors can't open all the way because they hit the toilets. See the photos. If you want a luxury hotel and expensive meals, go to the Dells or Lake Geneva. But if you are going for the skiing, this is a good option. See photos below. Ok, this one is tough. We don't ski or golf so don't know about that, important to many of you. I did stay here a few years back and can confirm that the rooms were shabby and badly in need of renovation so whatever's been done has to be a big improvement. This is really a review of Famer's Restaurant. We have come here for years, to meet up with family on our annual trip. Really love the locale and warm decor in the restaurant. No big changes to to that yet. But under new management, somethings rotten in the kitchen! Only a few tables of customers. Waitresses running around all the time, but took 45 minutes for food to arrive to our table of four, waiting for a Caesar, soup, one wrap, and grilled salmon which when it arrived was all very good. Waitress seemed surprised we thought it was a long wait which I take to be a bad sign. Cocktails were not made to our liking either, not recognizable as what we ordered. Because of our history with this place we'll try again next year hoping to see they've brought it up to par. Fingers crossed. read more

But I have had a room that seemed a little beat up and on a different stay, I noticed that the noise level from the hallway was pretty loud (the people were not out of line - the walls just didn't buffer the sound). Serious problem with A/C units fan very noisy! AVOID the restaurant at breakfast time. Not a great experience, not too much to choose from. read more

I was here for the ski jump weekend and I enjoyed every minute of it! The property is beautiful with great skiing. Since I had not been skiing in a long time I decided that it would be in my best interest to take a lesson. The instructor Roger was so nice and patient with me. When I finally hit the slopes by myself I felt like a pro. I would recommend the place to everyone I know! Plus the staff was very nice and the bar is worth a visit. read more

Skiing is good for the midwest - not the best but nice for our younger kids and pretty easy to get to from Chicago. It was also nice that when we went it was not busy at all. Staff were very friendly and prices seemed reasonable. Ski instructors for the kids were also good. The facility itself though is showing wear and tear. The pool heater was broken and had been for a week. The sauna was broken. The hot tub was turned up too hot (to make up for the cold pool?). The slope-side condos we stayed in were very hard to get in and out of due to a lack of sidewalks. May not sound like it but overall we had a good time. read more

Staff was overall friendly, with the exception of a hill supervisor whom we observed intoxicated in Famers restaurant in the resort. we observed this man use extremely profane language as he ridiculed and berated an employee. We also observed him the following afternoon as he did the same thing to an employee while we were on the deck at the rear of the hotel. He then walked past us and we could smell the alcohol from several feet away. he proceeded to climb onto a snowmobile in this state and drove away weaving between children and skiers, making for a very unsafe environment for all in the area. the rooms are passable but have a musty mold like odor and a strange smell was coming from the heater. the food in the restaurant was excellent, and all the other staff members we met were courteous and helpful. I would not recommend this resort to anyone interested, because of the unsafe conditions caused by this supervisor, and because of his failure to use language that is appropriate to use in the presence of children. read more
