Lake George Escape Campground was perfect for our group of 40. They are upgrading the pool which will be great next season. Located on the river, make sure to take advantage of the tubing that they offer. It was an amazing 2 hour float! Their golf carts are high tech and you can link up your music to it which is fun! They offer a shuttle into town. The only improvement I would recommend is them having more staff on to help guests when issues arise. We also loved the cabin, clean and had linens provided. Stayed here in July for a long weekend with family. Half the campground was closed down due to flooding which didn't allow us to utilize the lake or any of the boating activities in which we wanted to do. We stayed in one of their cabins which was absolutely stunning though! The camp ground had some activities we attended but you could definitely feel the social treatment towards the seasonal people compared to what we got for customer service. We would be interested in trying this campground again when all amenities are open and available. read more

Was just there for a few days last weekend. Had a great time. The staff was outstanding. Duane, the event coordinator does a great job. The staff at the store and restaurant were friendly and helpful. I would especially like to thank Kiana, one of the food service staff and Brett, the stilts walker. This is the second time I have been to lake George escape camp ground. I can't complain. It is still fun and one of the best places to go with the family for a camping experience. There are many sites for tenting, RV's and also cabins available for your type of camping style. The showers are free with hot water and the bathroom are maintained daily. The last time we had came here was back in 2014. The experience is still the same. They have tubing, canoeing and kayaking. The tubing experience is so much fun. The cost is 10 dollars. The camp ground staff drop you off with tubes and you go your merry way down the river. That leads back to the campsite. There campsite is also located near lake George. The resort has a shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up at lake George for your adventurous side to explore more that what the campsite has to offer. Been here pre and post pandemic. Stayed here recently with my family from 7/22 - 7/26/2022. The campground is really big and has plenty of things to do for kids. although a bit of a mix up happened: so basically we went to the campsite, and there was a rock in the site. it basically separated the 2 sites, but had to go back to the office to get a larger site to fit our large trailer. Aparently the person who made the reservation didn't know the difference between a pull through, or a back in. it's all good tho as we got a better spot that fit our trailer. setup went well. the campground is gated, but one can ask for the gate code if staying here. They are many sites for RVs, cabins and tenting. They also have a pool. One thing about the pool tho is that the area is around some grass, and some of the chairs are in the grass-- but if one wants to go in the pool, you have to step on the bare grass. The pool also only goes up to 4 feet. Good for family with tons of kids, but if one may like going in the 6 feet or 5 feet, you are at a disappointment. There is a restaurant that you can get food and drinks. I got a pina coloda with my dad, and it was really good and refreshing! overall good place, and perhaps will be back! read more

The campground is awesome. It truly has something for everyone. The staff are amazing. However my only gripe with this campground is that they have double and then some their prices in the past 3 years. Each year it has gone up tremendously. They are asking $10,000 plus for new seasonals. That is pricing for year round camp grounds. Not for upstate NY campgrounds that you only get the 4 months of camping (maybe 2 weeks in May and a few days in October).! read more

They let 12 year olds drive golf carts. "it's a rule" that nobody can drive one without a drivers license. The so called "Park Rangers" are a joke. they don't enforce anything. managers told all staff that they are to stop anybody under age driving. but Jeff the manager watches kids walk in and out of the building driving golf carts without saying anything. so how do you expect employees to enforce rules that the manager can't even enforce. the place is a joke, I hope they get sued. I have been coming here with friends every Memorial Day Weekend for the past five years. Normally we are very satisfied with the amenities. However, this year they left a lot to be desired. Facilities were not clean - clogged toilets, flooded muddy bathroom floors, and dirty showers. The cleaning staff was visible throughout the campground riding around on golf carts. I am unsure if they just weren't cleaning thoroughly or if they were severely understaffed and couldn't keep up with the demand. The showers closest to our campsite did not even provide a shelf or hooks for clothes and towels. Where are people supposed to put their belongings? On the filthy floor? Every time I showered, I had to bring a patio side table with me just to place my towel and clean clothes on. It's also worth nothing that the bar/restaurant is under new ownership this year. They were super friendly and I wish them all the best this season! Apart from the gross bathrooms, the rest of the campground is wonderful - the office/store staff is friendly and we love being in close proximity to Lake George Village. I am not sure we will return next year, we may look into other options in the area. We are not happy, especially with the premium price we paid per night. read more

The bathrooms is really dirty and disgusting . There was fecal matter all over the toilet seat and there was mushrooms growing from the sinks. There was no employee to clean the bathrooms and showers . The showers and really nasty with dead bugs inside the shower. And there is no fun activity to do with the kids. And why does it take 5 days to put a liner into a pool . I am really disappointed on this campground . I would give it 0 stars but it does not let me so I gave it 1 star read more

Booked a family reunion here without ever having been here, so was a bit nervous, and my expectations were far exceeded! Well-kept campground with lots to do and very friendly staff. On the event side -- which is a new service this campground is offering -- Duane and his team bent over backwards to help arrange the best possible space and plans. They were wonderfully communicative in the planning process, even in the off-season. We rented the "little top" tent - 30'x40' - perfect size for about 50 of us. The staff helped us pull in the right # of picnic tables and rolled up the sides of the tent, and they and provided a gas grill and a flattop for us to bbq our reunion dinner. We were surprised and so grateful that there was also an industrial fan in the space! Several families booked RV campsites and everything went smoothly there. We also had several premium cabins, both loft and regular, and were very pleased that they were extremely clean and well-supplied. They were pricey, but they matched the description and photos on the website exactly so we got what we paid for. Kids and adults had a great time at the pool and making s'mores in the fire pits. The food at the on-site restaurant was surprisingly great -- nothing frozen, all made in house and delicious. They recently updated their pet policy (2019) and pets ARE permitted in all of the cabins. Unfortunately, they didn't update their website, so we didn't bring our dogs, which was a bummer, but we'll know for next time. read more

My friends and I came here on the "off-season" (late September), and it was unfortunately, the one weekend where it suddenly dipped into the 40's after nice, warm weather. The camp grounds were nice and clean, though my friends noted that the female working the welcome desk was rather rude to them. However, I did not have the same experience, as the lone female working the desk was very nice to me, so I imagine they caught her at a bad time. On the contrary, when we went down for firewood and realized we four women decided to fill our hands with too much wood and extra food, one of the staff members was so nice and offered to throw it all in his truck and drive it to our campsite for us. It was waiting for us when we got back, which was such a relief since it was a decent walk back. I had my three small pups with me this weekend, and they had an absolute blast roaming the camp grounds and getting dirty. I wish we had been there during a warmer weekend, as the camp fire did not do enough to keep us warm, and while my sub-zero sleeping blanket and tent were enough to keep me warm when I slept, my friends were chilled to the bone. On the bright side, they have cabins here, so now we know we can play it safe next year for those who don't want to risk another cold weekend! It seems there is a lot that you can do at the camp grounds, and especially when it's warmer and busier, so we look forward to trying again next year!! read more

My husband, kiddos, and I have been full-time RV'ing for six months, all over the U.S. We've been to a lot of campgrounds, and this one is our favorite so far. The grounds are beautiful, with woods, chipmunks, frogs, beach lounging along Schroon River, etc. Our four-year old, Lily Beanz, had a wonderful time on the little poolside water slide, miniature golf, big playgrounds, and pedal trikes. All the facilities were super-clean, and the store had all you could ask for. The employees are so nice, including Natalie and her front desk supervisor who both worked so hard to find us a spot for more days there, and Roy, the facilities manager, who noticed how happy Lily was to be there and gave her a free slushee coupon for her first slushee evz. read more

May 2021, disappointing trip to this campground. We were placed on a newly cut in campsite. It was all dirt with grass seed sprinkled on it. The worse part was it was ACTUALLY fertilizer and the camper smelled so bad! We have children and a dog, so you can understand how difficult that was. There were other sites available, so I have no idea why they put us there. The staff actually escorted us there and thought that was a fine place to put us. It's my hope that the management will close these site off until the grass grows in! The camp store is cashless. This is ridiculous and inconvenient. I hope the management reconsiders that policy. We had to go to a nearby store to buy credit gift cards to buy things there. Absolutely absurd. No other store in the area is cashless. The developed part of the campground is very nice. Clean bathrooms, nice playground. Overall very clean. Obviously our particular site and the surround areas were pretty terrible though. Hopefully they won't do that to other guests. read more

I liked how this campground had plenty to do for adults and kids. It was close to grocery store, gas and dunkin! Only half hour ride from the actual Lake George! It had a restaurant/bar lounge area which was cool. This business was separate from the campground so the employees did not belong to the campground. At this restaurant/ bar lounge the owner and employees were very pleasant and friendly. Food and drinks were well worth the price. However, the campground staff weren't very pleasant. All bathrooms were pretty dirty and due to Covid we expected it to be much cleaner especially because you are required to wear face coverings every time you enter a building. Luckily we had a full camper. The two other families that joined us rented tent sites and ended up using our camper bathroom as they were that gross. read more

***BED BUG WARNING*** We rented a cabin at the campground for 3 nights, July 16 - 19. Everyone in our cabin who slept on or came in contact with the pull-out sleeper couch now has bed bug bites all over their body. Another family we traveled with came home with the same problem and their cabin was in a different area of the campground. They never set foot inside ours. A week and a half later and new welts are emerging on our bodies every day and we are concerned we brought the bed bugs into our homes. We have been attempting to contact the campground to inform them of their problem and help others avoid having to deal with this issue. Just a friendly buyer beware message. first time in LG, I must say impressive, one of the best getaways I have been to. had lots of fun; the lodge/cabin we took was very nice and fitted the 7 of us. the fire pit is always a plus. their is a laundry room, pool, restrooms and many more amenities. Here are the positives of our trip: The campground is huge and has a ton of activities available. It was nice to have everything onsite. The kids were able to take off on their bikes and we felt safe letting them do so. There was also plenty for them to do so they were never bored. The campground is right off of the highway and just a 15-20 minute ride to downtown Bolton. The staff was very friendly and helpful for the most part. We visited during Covid and knew that there were restrictions in place and were prepared for them. One issue is for two days of us trying to make our reservations for the daily events and tubing their system was down. This would not have been so bad if they accepted cash but they do not because of Covid. We did not reserve an hour slot at the pool for the kids because we knew it would just be a tease to them so they just went in the lake. Our biggest complaint is the lack of cleanliness. We showed up on Wednesday and the bathrooms near our site were okay at best but it is camping. However for three days the same pieces of toilet paper were on the floor that were there when we first arrived along with many new additions. The floor was never cleaned during our time there and it certainly didn't look like the toilets were either. The showers were absolutely horrific. There was more dirt and debris on the floors than outside by the dumpsters. We complained to two different employees on two different days and both said "we will inform housekeeping." We used the bathrooms by the office, by the pool and the other section near the sites but all left a lot to be desired. It was also quite disappointing that at 4:30am there was no toilet paper in the stall in the women's room which was not something I was prepared for half asleep. We saw cleaning crews constantly going in the cabins but not in the actual bathrooms. I know everyone is doing the best they can with Covid but why put other restrictions in place and not take cash when the areas that are shared the most aren't cleaned. From my experience, businesses are typically required to keep logs on bathroom cleanliness checks and I would imagine that would be increased during Covid. So my advice to you is if you do not have a camper with hookups find a different campground that truly takes cleanliness and sanitation seriously because this is certainly not the place! There is a bar/restaurant attached which was great. The staff was excellent, it was clean, and everything was very reasonably priced. I found out that is different ownership so they are certainly not included in the review above. They deserve a much higher rating! read more

Booked a rv spot for a week with the family . Got tickets to the nearby water park had plans set for a week of fun with the family . Get an email telling me my reservation has been canceled do to flooding. No phone call just an email . But they did refund my deposit, but in the same never offered me an alternative reservation or anything to that mater . If you think you have reserved a specific campsite, you have not! If you think you have reserved a trailer, cabin, or pull-thru, you have not! We planned and reserved our trip eight months ago--we were bringing together four branches of the family from all over New York State to meet at the campground. We picked localized campsites that were within sight and walking distance of each other. When we got there we were told of four different sites. after a lengthly discussion about our reservations and planning, we asked "Why can't we have the sites we reserved or another grouping of sites that would be acceptable??". That direct question was answered with some incomprehensible logic that resulted in (it seems) site numbers pulled from a hat. Insufferable apathy and rudeness. The implied solution to this impasse was to turn our vehicles around and make use of the exits. I ended up with a barely adequate trailer that was not what I wanted nor where I wanted it. The other three families were scattered around the vast campground. We knew when we planned the trip that we would have to rent a very expensive golf cart for convenience, but, for ninety-five percent of the time, the function of the golf cart was shuttling family members to and from the widely spaced sites. The sprawling campground could accommodate at least a thousand campers--two on-site multiple machine laundry facilities were there, except one was completely shut down--broken machines, and the other only having four machines available--no mention of this situation in advance, so nobody prepped for it--widespread complaints throughout the grounds. The teenagers made the most of the situation by using the activities offered, but for us, the picturesque setting, the very scenic Lake George could not overcome the disappointment that turned to anger we had--it dominated the entire visit, dampened the well planned and anticipated family gathering. never again--goodbye Lake George Escape!! read more

THE END OF A FAMILY TRADITION... Ihave been coming to this campground since I was little. I have always camped in an RV with my family and have LOVED it. HOWEVER.... I am camping in a tent this year and had to use the campground facilities. I NEVER saw anyone clean the restrooms.. not once. I stayed 5 full days and the same dirt and grime never moved. The showers are REPULSIVE. I am so incredibly disappointed with the cleaning staff (if they even have one???) in the bathroom there is a number to text to report anything and we texted 3 times and they responded and said "we will let our housekeeping staff know". I have tent camped many times at many campgrounds and have never seen such terrible facilities. Because of this, I will not be back again. read more

We have camped at Lake George Escape for over a week every year for many years now, with multiple families including various aged children and love it! This year, however, the weekend security was virtually non-existent - we experienced neighboring campsites with extremely bright lights shining into our tents all night long keeping us up, as well as very loud neighbors (not only after quiet hours late into the night, but also very early in the morning before quiet hours ended, waking us up at 6:30am and leaving us with very grumpy kids). We were also woken up one morning to staff loudly weed-whacking and chainsawing tree branches far too early in the morning. One security staff person, Travis, who patrolled hourly during the weekdays, kept things as they should be - quiet and dark during night time quiet hours, and made sure neighbors were respectful of other vacationers. However, Travis was not on duty over the weekends and it was very noticed. The 2nd weekend we were there, we did not see a single security patrol all night (we were looking so we could ask that our neighbor's light be turned off), so it was frustrating. If the weekend security staff were more like Travis, it would have been a perfect trip. read more

I was so excited to come here after all the great reviews, booked 3 months ago 2 premium cabins to celebrate my sons 5th birthday, we came with 4 kids and 4 adults, specifically for the activities. Rented a golf cart and all. First day we get ready for the pool and realized is closed for the weekend. Reason? Is dirty! Ok let's go to the beach at the river! Nop, half of the camp site is closed (all the north part where the river is) because of mud. Not a word on their website, not a word when I call before arrival to pay in full our stay. Now imagine the 4 kids under 7 yrs old, only thing they had to do was a bouncy house for an hour on Sunday. Movie under the stars? Inside a small place in a 32" tv. And the employees, well, let's say one of the general managers said to my husband he would call the police on him in front of our kids because he was taking some wood on the middle of the street that he thought was for the cabins. He later apologized but my 5 yrs old woke up in me middle of he night asking if his daddy was going to jail. read more

It is a great campground. The sites are clean and big. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only exception is the staff at the poolside grill and the funhouse. They are worthless. They don't want to be there and they let you know it. Too bad because they can spoil the whole experience. Plus, most of the games in the funhouse are broken. read more

My family have been coming here for years However this year was different. Here are some of my Negatives.... Gone is the Two Pools. In its place is a pool 1/3 its size of their big pool with a 4' 11'' depth and the smaller pool has been replaced with a splash type area almost like a kiddie pool that is about 3" deep.( this is a positive for campers with little ones). So on a hot day you can't get more than 25-30 people in this pool before it gets crowded. They also took the bingo tent and moved it right next to the treeline on the Softball field. So now, you are attacked by more bugs and you have to walk 1/2 way across the field to play Bingo. The store although clean is very minimaly stocked and very overpriced (2.00) for a soap dish They have a strict policy of vehicles going 5 MPH. However., I see golf carts doing about 10 or more MPH. Even the ones that the staff drive around in (with a 5 MPH sign on it) . My son was almost his by one this year. They need to get control of this. Positives.... it is still a clean park with a very hospitable staff. The bathrooms and showers are well maintained. Checking in and out is effortless Many of activities for children to do About 3 yrs ago they messed up our reservation(on Labor Day weekend) and we were forced to go somewhere else They reached out and offered to give us a free stay but due to personal family issues we were unable to take advantage of this offer . We stayed at this campground for the 4th of July weekend and decided to leave one night early because of the following concerns. We requested a refund for the one night that we would not be using the campsite, but the General Manager has a "No refund, no exceptions" policy. Concerns: -Very loud in the evenings and night. Cursing, yelling, and loud music can be heard throughout the campground into the early morning. -Quiet hours are later than at other campgrounds we have visited and not enforced until reported. -Slow response time from security for reported situations. -Very few showers, sinks, and toilets for the number of people camping here. You have to wait to use any facility. Also, they are very far from some sites. -Both sink and shower pressure are very low, basically dripping. The two restrooms in the camping area have sinks with knobs that need constant turning to stay on. -A lot of the sites are dirt with a few patches of grass, which gets very messy when it rains. Positives: -The staff members are nice. -Canoeing on the river was the best part of our trip read more

We stayed there July 6th thru July 8th. They had just opened their pools up and they were beautiful. The best part was the DJ, dancing and Karaoke was the best part! We were at a tent site, across from the laundry, bathrooms and showers. Which were kept clean. They have a lot of activities to do, throughout the day, so you don't ever have to leave the campground. Only downside about their location, is the mosquitos. The mosquitos are terrible. You'll need good bug spray, with a high % of deet! read more

Enter the campground with a sense of profound confusion surrounded by winter wonderland decorations in July and a lonely miniature golf course. As we continue into the campgrounds, see tiny "cabins" packed side by side. Many people take it upon themselves to garishly decorate with plastic white fences and pink flamingos. Most of the people here appear to be constantly drinking, but honestly, who can blame then? Pitch a tent on a small plot of land right next to the road. Don't worry, nature is overrated. Settle in to sleep, finally in the privacy of your own tent. But oh! You can't sleep. You are too surrounded by all the sounds of the wild: mothers screaming at the children, young men drinking through the night, and loud pop music. I booked a reservation at this campground in January 2021 for 7/27-8/1/21 and then an additional day of 7/26/21. 2 nights before I was set to check in I received a text message at 8:49 PM saying my reservation was canceled! This was 1 day before my vacation was to start! While I understand the reason why, (flooding in the area) there were no attempts to try and place us in another resort in the area and no attempts by this campground to make things right by offering any type of compensation for the major inconvenience this caused. Not only can I not take my family on a vacation that I planned 7 months ahead of time, I also lost numerous deposits for activities that I planned in the area that sum up to over $700. I was to be camping with another family who also got canceled. Where in Lake George are you going to find 2 reservations for an entire week stay 1 day before the trip is supposed to start? This campground gave me 1 day notice that we could not come and they knew at least a week ahead of time that this was going to be happening but decided not to let any of their customers know until the last minute. I know this because there were friends of our who also got canceled who were supposed to stay there earlier. This is entirely unprofessional to cause this much inconvenience and frustration to a customer. When I called them, all they said is there is nothing they could do and at least we got our money back. This is the worst customer service I have ever received from a company. They should be ashamed of themselves for treating people like this! read more

Let's talk about the good and the bad. The good. There is a lot to do within the camp especially for kids. The campsite also allows people to use their own kayaks and tubes as they wish so there is freedom to have fun as you please. There's golf carts, an arcade, a family friendly pub with music that caters to both kids and adults, pedal carts, a playground, a pool, some nature trails, and the beauty of all the nature around you. Outside the camp there is a short trip to Lake George Village where there are horse riding stables, cave explorations, kayaking, steam boat rides, go kart racing, paragliding, and the many shops and restaurants both on the shore of and in the main street of Lake George Village. The bad. It's extremely expensive to do a majority of the things outside the camp, though I understand that's not the camps fault. The campgrounds themselves are kind of crowded and unless you have quiet neighbors it can ruin your experience. This one family was blaring music beyond quiet hours and was reprimanded for it. There was an awful flooding this weekend and the campsite handled it poorly. No one warned the campers of the potential pouring and I kept overhearing staff tell people "We thought it would go away by today". There were people whose entire sites got flooded over night and whose campers were stuck in water. It looked as if the Frog Pond and the Schroon River had swallowed the campsites whole creating one large body of water. We realized what was happening early so we got our stuff and were able to get a new campsite on higher ground. A lot of people did not get that chance and the camp started to be overbooked. All the staff did was put little cones in front of where the water was currently and even those got swallowed by the ever growing flood. I am sure something like this has happened in the past so they should know how to handle it by now even if it hasn't happened at this great a magnitude. Maybe they could have sent staff over to help campers move or ride the golf carts around with a megaphone shouting the warnings. Then there's the cleanliness. The pool is small and heated and smelled of urine so I don't know how often it was filtered or the fact that for a camp of such size they chose to build such a small pool, too many people in at once caused for obvious pool odors. The only bathrooms that were cleaned daily seemed to be the main lodge bathrooms, probably because those are the ones almost everyone uses including people who just stop by the camp off road. The other bathrooms in the camp were full of mud, broken toilets and sinks, toilet paper everywhere, and looked like extended porta potties. I know it's not their fault that people behave like animals and don't know how to properly use a bathroom but it's their job to clean it daily. Other than that the campgrounds were VERY family friendly, very easy to navigate once you learn the main roads, and most people seemed to really enjoy themselves, especially the people that were lucky enough to have their own swimming gear or fishing gear. This trip is really what you make of it and even though I posted an essays worth of bad situations I would probably still come back because of how much fun I had with my family and how not just the campsite but the area of the Adirondacks itself really is something to experience at least once in your life. So to everyone who reads this take caution when you go but know that things are twice as fun if you bring your own stuff to add to all the fun they already provide. And bring your own toilet paper.
