Lake George. My favorite hike, it's easy and under 1 mile. From parking you pass campground seeing Lake George immediately.

My husband and I live coming here every year. It's an easy hike which I like. It's a beautiful area. From the parking lot you walk on path that leads to Lake George, Barrett and TJ Lake. You walk by the campground which overlooks Lake George. It's a wide area to walk, eventually it will narrow to a path which is very pretty with Lake George on your right side. It's a great and beautiful hike.

Just left Lake George Campground, and I highly recommend this spot for camping!!! - clean restrooms - the campsite has everything you need - it's not far from the town and the village, in case you forgot something or you want to escape the "woods".. only 10-15 mins drive. - lake is clean and the view is so beautiful Make sure to come here earlier especially if it's a holiday! This place gets booked/full right away! Unless you wanna come during off peak season! I'll come back again for sure!!

Great Lake, vibe of the lake is very seclusive. You have cleaner restrooms around the lake. Lake is very clean, very quiet and you can see some snow up in the mountains. Gorgeous view.

ONE SLIP ON A ROCK AND THERE'S BOT! BACKGROUND: Crystal Crag is the obvious rock tower that juts out of the Mammoth Lakes area south of Yosemite. From the east, it looks like a huge, solitary granite tooth. The east and north sides of the peak present some challenging rock climbs, while the west and south sides offer slightly easier routes to the summit. Scenic views down to the Mammoth Lakes and out to the Ritter Range and SE Yosemite can be had from the summit. One of the nice things about Crystal Crag is that it has a very short approach hike and yet still offers enough challenge for most people. STATS: Distance: Ours was 5 miles. but you decide Elevation gain: 500 ft Difficult: Intermediate/comfortable with rock scrambling/climbing Duration: 5-6 hrs, depending on distance ESSENTIALS: At least 2 liters of water (depends on distance and temp) Know your limits Experience with altitude (altitude sickness is deadly)-do the research Comfy hiking shoes with good lugs Trekking poles Layered Clothing High protein food/snacks Electrolytes Camera Hat (optional) OUR ROUTE: Our play time started at the Lake George Trail head where we followed a well traveled uphill trail to the base of Crystal Crag. That's where the fun started. Climbing, hopping, and crawling over uneven unstable rocks we went. Balancing, quick thinking and a lot of negotiation is required when on the rocks, but even with all that, accidents do happen. I mis-stepped on a rock, my foot slipped, and down I went. Fortunately this fall only resulted in a nice little scrap on the knee...a small badge of honor, but I was first of The Crew members to leave BOT-blood on trail. WooHoo!!!! We Scramble and climbed as far as we could, to the point that ropes were needed, we took a well deserved lunch break overlooking Lake George. After lunch and play time, we headed back to the trail head, climbing and sliding down the rocks on the other side of Crystal Crag. Once at the bottom, we got to hop rocks to avoid the snow cold water. All in all another great adventure with The Crew. #HIKING #ROCKCLIMBING #ROCKSCRAMBLING #FREECLIMBING #TECHNICALCLIMBING #MAJESTICVIEWS #LAKES

Of all the drivable lakes in the Mammoth Lakes area this is my favorite. There has been plenty of parking spaces for the times I've visited this lake. There are picnic tables and bear containers available. During the high season, they have rental boats. For a small fee, you can launch your own Boat, Kayak or Float Tube. The last two years we've encountered a local bear and this year she brought her cubs. This year, I watched a guy jumping off this rock formation on the far side numerous times into the icy cold water. Though every Lake in the Mammoth chain has catchable trout, Lake George is my favorite and go to lake. Make be because it's the most scenic.

Our favorite of the Mammoth lakes, but all of them are amazing. Will definitely be back and camp again!

Not too many out on the lake (late September). Perfect weather and enjoyed seeing the leaves turn. Saw lots of fish. Dreaming of next Gull Lake boat ride. Gull lake always seems a little more low key, so peaceful.

I hope this email reaches the owner or manager responsible for customer service. We have rented boats on Gull Lake for years and have always had a good experience until this past week. Our first experience was August 18th getting our fishing license with almost zero communication from the two young men in charge. We then rented a pontoon boat on August 22nd and after getting on the boat realized two of us had grease all over our pants due to grease being all over the front seat. When bringing in the boat for a lunch break we asked the young man to clean off the seat for us and he said "sure". Upon our return the seat was still full of grease. There seemed to be zero appreciation or customer service which was so disappointing. I hate negative yelps...pants have been ruined and we are sad to think our rental boat days at Gull will not be in our future.
