Since Dustin and Michelle have taken over management at Lake Louise RV Resort, the difference has been incredible! They have worked so hard to improve the campground and all of the amenities, and it really shows. Dustin's communication has been amazing--transparent, consistent, and honest. For the first time in years, we finally had a working pool and hot tub this season, which made such a huge difference. Dustin has implemented many positive changes throughout the park, and Michelle has done a fantastic job planning fun and creative activities for everyone to enjoy. We're sad to see the season coming to an end, but we're already looking forward to next year to see all the exciting new things Dustin and Michelle have planned. We just moved to the area 6months ago, we've been here twice already this summer and it's only early June! I have a 3, 5, 8yo and they all love playing on the beach, the little floaties, and my 8yo loves the big floaties (wibit)-they also enjoy the foam party. 10/10 recommend over Pearl Lake any day. My husband and I have been seasonal campers at LL for almost 10 years; there have been a few changes in management/ownership which have created some hiccups in the way the park has been managed and maintained. One management team closed the park to ALL outside visitors, which was just awful. No activities, no live music and the pool was failing. Followed by the next management team who decided that the primary focus was to make the outside people happy, this resulted in inconsistent communication for seasonal campers, the pool being shut down for over 2 seasons, very few activities, etc. But they did have GREAT fireworks. Yes, they did open the showers to the town when there was a large power outage. The newest management team, Dustin and Michele, have been really enthusiastic and positive. The pool has been open this season, activities have been communicated and on-time. The store has been stocked with essentials; and the café has been a great place to grab a quick snack or small meal. Yes, there are things which still need improvement; but for being in charge for less than 12 months Dustin and Michele (and their work crew!) have made such a difference. Dustin is looking at the bigger picture, has a long term plan and has been very honest and upfront with any updates. Also, I'm fairly confident they would help the town of Bryon if facilities were ever needed again. Come and try this campground again, you won't be disappointed! read more

Spent two months here and had no issues. Office staff were friendly and helpful. Office had any last minute forgotten items for sale and a nice size concession stand. The park was clean and some-what well maintained. I enjoyed all the outdoor activities that were offered. Only recommendations I would make are to put out dog poop cans. I had a far walk if I didn't want to take my dogs poop home with as there were only 1 garbage area and that was over a half a mile walk. Second outdoor maintenance. When I first arrived, my lot looked like it wasn't cut in weeks and then it took a couple days for someone to come and cut my area. On the way In and Out we noticed that the tall tree limbs were hitting our camper, so much so that we now have branch scrapping marks on our awning. Other than that, amazing facility and would definitely come back. read more

Long story short: this place is nothing like what it appears to be from their website. It's also definitely not worth the prices they charge. I would not recommend them at all. We stayed for three nights and had a very disappointing experience. Nothing close to the "extraordinary hospitality" the website promises. The reality is that we paid premium prices for minimal working amenities. This place has so much potential, but the campground is run down. Plus, the owners were not transparent about what working amenities they actually offered or what the current state of the campground actually is. For example, the site advertised a beautiful swimming pool and whirlpool, which is one of the main reasons we booked here with young children. Neither were working and were completely drained. Our kids were beyond disappointed. The frustrating part is we heard from the seasonals that it hadn't been working for weeks. Even recent Yelp reviews this summer confirmed with pictures that the pool area hadn't been operational for quite some time. The seasonals also told us the restaurant wasn't open either and laughed when we said it was our first time here, saying, "Well, try to enjoy this place for what it is..." as they told us about everything that was broken it not working. Again, no one from the campground told us about this before or when we arrived. They did have Wibits/inflatables, but the pond was pretty scummy compared to the pictures. It also looked like the inflatables were not properly inflated when we arrived, looking low on air. I never did see any kids in the pond, despite it being sunny and hot all weekend. The playground area looked fine from afar, but up close it had broken equipment. Everything was rundown. The monkey bar handles were completely missing and visible rust was in many places. The end of the slide was very high up off the ground and unsafe for little children to use. The one nice part of the playground area was a basketball court they converted into a pickleball court. But with so few activities that people could do, it was hard to find an open time to use it. Our campsite was wide, flat and had a nice tree for shade, so that was a positive. However, many were missing fire rings and when we arrived it looked like the grass hadn't been cut in at least a couple of weeks. Luckily we had a full hookup site because the dump station rinse hose required people to use a pliers found in the grass. We heard from others that it was also full... The water spigots were located very far apart with multiple nozzles on each, so water pressure was an issue at times. At other campgrounds we've been to, management is always around, making sure rules are being followed and the property maintained. Other campgrounds have staff who come frequently to pick up trash from people's sites. Here we couldn't find trash bins or dumpsters. The employees made themselves scarce, and we had to rely on other campers for help and assistance. Thankfully, the other campers were helpful and friendly. I'm also thankful we had a travel trailer to stay in because the bathrooms and showers were disgusting. They were very dirty, the sinks didn't work correctly, and the "ceiling" was open, covered by a wire mesh. The buildings also looked run down. Again, a very disappointing experience for what we paid and what we were led to believe. read more

Horribly disappointed- really wish we would've read these reviews and not the ones on the "falsely advertised" website 98 degrees- pool is Green- "it may open later- we are shocking it" however the bottom is full of sand and the hot tub is housing a family of frogs- not to mention the bird in the basket of the pool- (these things happen- but shouldn't someone be on top of it?) So let's go to the lake - no chairs? Also where you have to pay $5.00 per life vest that are required (ok/ safety) but IF you have no pool - and you are a paying camper ya think customer service would waive that fee- but ya no customer service Snotty kids running the place. And not sure what the wristbands are for? Not to mention the bathrooms are not suitable for your animals to use- let alone take a shower in. Really sad. We did have a very nice site with mature trees and surrounding campers were kind. We also visited a nice family restaurant called Sunrise I believe. read more

Last summer we came to camp at lake Louise.. it was great the pool was soo clean. My mom and husband camp with a camper we camp with a tent. This year they need to do a lot of up keep. We went for memorial day weekend. The pool was green no hot tub. There are a lot of holes that need to be filled. The roads are full of holes . For there lake they could have had it set up. There could have had some chairs out. They have a slide for the kids and it was not out. These are easy fixes but they didn't do it. We were not happy. The new owners are not nice people. They should have gave my mom a couple of free days. They didn't. I don't think he knows how to sell the place to his campers. The people that make him money and spend it. read more

It was not a good experience, in fact our worse ever. We were given a map and navigated our 30 foot camper through muddy dirt roads to find our site, they were not well marked. Some nice camper gentleman helped us, they show us a tiny site with a 10 to 15 feet long pad covered with geese, that were doing what geese do, pooping. There were permanent camper homes right beside it and an oddly placed tree across the street -- no way would we have fit there nor could we put our Ram and camper in that spot. We went back to the office and they you g man called his mother, the manager (we did not speak to her then. He told us we could have the other site across from it, which was the same. When we called the manager in the morning we were told since did not cancel 10 days in advance there was no refund. The one positive thing to be noted if you need a photographer to make you look much better than you are, find out who they used and hire her!! read more

My family came here to stay for about a week from a recommendation from my Stepdad's brother. My siblings and I were so excited to stay at this campground because of the lake and the pool and the activities advertised on their website. However, when we arrived it was THE MOST underwhelming feeling...EVER! - The lake is a sorry excuse for a lake. - Their bathrooms are deplorable. - YOU HAVE TO PAY TO TAKE A SHOWER. - There are insects and bugs in the restrooms. - YOU HAVE TO PAY TO TAKE A SHOWER. - Their shower is at the top of a hill, a 10min walk away from our campsite by the lake. - No signs anywhere to say where the shower or anywhere is. - Only one shower for the whole campground - My stepdad had to wash off in the sink because his shower was not working! He put in a quarter for the shower and after a while, the shower stopped so he meant to put in another quarter but it would not take it. None of the other stalls would take the quarter either. Just absolutely ridiculous! Safe to say that I absolutely do not recommend this sorry excuse of a campground! Glad we only stayed there for one night instead of the whole week we were supposed to stay there! read more

We visited Lake Louise Campground for Labor Day Weekend. We have a large group that likes to try different campgrounds so we thought we would try Lake Louise. this is by far the rudest and dirtiest campground I have ever stayed at. The sites were very crowded. We did not have any shade on our site. For the pool and the lake, you need to wear a wrist band. The pool was cold and crowded. We were told that we could not have drinks at the pool becuase they may "stain the concrete". The lake is full of weeds, so the fishing was difficult and not very appealing for swimming. There was a log roll in the water that the children seemed to enjoy. There was a dj on the beach, that kept the kids entertained with beach-side games. To describe the staff at the campground, there is only one word, "RUDE." We went to the office to ask for a map and were told, "You got one when you came." The bathrooms were exremely dirty and marked, "out of order". We called the office to let them know that the toilets were all stopped up and that the bathroom was very dirty. The staff member, told us, "I just got here. Have a nice day." and hung up on us. There was a band one of the nights, which was nice. The band members were friendlier than everyone in the campground. The children of the seasonal campers are left unsupervised. On three separate occasions, we were harrassed by groups of 8-9 year-olds near the bathroom and park area. In one instance, a child knowed over our bikes and anoher one kicked the bikes. This campground is very poorly managed. read more

This is our second year back here lots of new updates the owners are awesome they are not stuck up and rude like most owners they actually come and check up on there guest lots of new work done here since they been here still alot more to do but they got this they work with you if your not satisfied with a spot that may got booked they helped us we have a diabetic daughter that needed electric for her meters and a closer spot for the playground and bathrooms with me being pregnant they have a new store opened with lots of good goodies in there new beach toys I side and lots of other good things going so nice to hear that they have activities going on not just for adults the kids as well fair pricing even last minutes same goes for the holidays they dont jack up pricing for just a holiday event either they have wonderful little ones as well for a family that came out of state to take over a place that was falling apart and the work they have done to bring back up to where it is today you can't always judge people by a cover of a book not everyone is the same keep it up you guys we would love to see this place grow along with you guys and you are great people read more

Bathrooms and showers are filthy, worse than most campgrounds. Sites were very crowded, no wooded area at all. Felt like we were just camping in a big dirt field. What they considered a beach was nasty. Workers were rude. I would not recommend this campground to anyone. read more

Just got back from here for the weekend. They have seasonal, pull through and tent camping. They also have a pool and lake to swim, rent a boat, go to kiddie beach, or try out the log roll. The beach house has good food, and stuff for purchase in case you forgot stuff. They have activities every weekend and the place is very family friendly. During the week the pool and beach not at all crowded and would make for a great vacation. read more

Positives: Nice folks staying near us. Everyone went to bed early and it was nice and quiet. Our son played with the other kids from nearby campgrounds. Very friendly campers around us. Trash pick up was convenient. Negatives: Bathrooms were not taken care of. They were very dirty and one of the two toilets was overflowing. No fire rings. No picnic table on our site. Beach is very small and doesn't look taken care of either. Not enough facilities for the number of sites. Gates lock at 11pm, preventing anyone from leaving the campground for any reason. read more

Walked to the cafe this am for coffee. Machine is down, will be fixed by Friday. Walked to the pool at 2, POOL IS CLOSED, PUMP IS DOWN! Will be fixed by Friday. I smartly asked if the coffee guy also fixed pools! The elderly lady sitting behind the counter started complaining how the city of Byron is mad at them for cutting off access for the public. So I guess the lake is broke, too! Poor customer service/ management/ owners? Not coming back. read more

Stayed there with my family. They owner was very rude. We rented 4 campsites only had electric on one site. It was ridiculous. You pay for electric and water one each site....... didn't get it. The owner gave us $12.00 of for the inconvenience. Down right poor customer service. We won't be staying there again. read more

Our first weekend at Lake Louise. Not many Camping parks have a beach, pool and hot tub but this one has all three. This is not a new resort but an old resort in very good condition. The pool is one of the best I have seen. Crystal clear water and it is heated and it is big. The beach is a clear water lagoon attached to a 15 or 20 acre lake, probably an old gravel pit. Nice sand beach with a life guard on watch. Cliental is all middle aged and middle income seems to be the majority but there were a few seniors there.. Lots of park models, popup campers and travel trailers, motorhomes are scarce. Lots of kids and most were armed with I-phones so they seem to network quickly. People were friendly and I even made some great friends. Someone with a gulf cart gave me a ride because I was carrying 2 bundles of firewood. Place was quiet most of time and totally quite after 10:00 PM. No parties keeping people awake or distracted. Campsites are quite spaceous but the transient sites are a fairly long walk to the beach and the pool. They have a large number of sites with full hookups with 50 amp electrical hookups. Two separate dump stations and three or four different bath houses. Place is very neat and clean, lawn well groomed. No specific fire pits. People find a bare spot in the lawn to build camp fires. Probably simplifies mowing and parking RV's not having fire pits. Beware of the older gal in the office. She told us our site had a 30 amp service when most were 50 amp so we had 50 amp. She also circled the wrong campsite on the park map so we had to move after our first night. I didn't make a big deal about it but thought it was worth mentioning. We will definitely return. read more

Ok. I was a seasonal camper here for about 8 years. The previous owners ( brothers) were very people friendly. One of them managed the operations, and one promoted it. The family that owns it now, is headed by a lady that use to run food service for Brookfield zoo. When you operate in a vacuum, with no competition, your customer service skills tend to suffer. The connection the last owners had with the community definitely are no longer there. You used to see bus loads of kids coming out from various schools and churches, almost every day. I think lack of promoting the campground, and sales, are what caused them to discontinue offering daily admittance. The lake used to have a good population of trophy bass. Bluegills 7-8 inches were common as well. The new owners stocked 15-17 inch smallmouth bass in the lake, which decimated the bluegill population, and stunted the bass. Fishing regulations have changed several times over the years, from catch and release during spring, to CPR year round. This would be ok, except they never posted them, so individual people were free to do what they wanted, which watered down the results. In any case, I am sure running a campground is a learning curve. They did put in a pool, and hot tub, which were welcome additions. But one thing is for sure, when you deal with the public every day, you should like it. You are not doing your customers a favor. They represent to you, present and future income. The lake and campground are excellent selling points. Post regulations and rules, and strive to create an exceptional experience for each and every guest, that allows you that opportunity. read more

My review is colored by the memory of the construction of this "man-made lake. It was the closest thing to a "real" lake short of driving to Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. I remember the excitement experienced by my gang of 4-5 grade-school boys when a neighborhood mother volunteered to drive us all the way from Loves Park to this paradise south of Rockford. There was scenic excitement with the Rock River on our left and, suddenly, the satisfaction of seeing Lake Louise with its shiny beaches of white sand on our right. There was a nominal fee for the car to enter the grounds, and the reward was nicely-graded beaches for sunbathing or swimming (I remember bringing boxing gloves and going home with a bloody nose). From reading the reviews, it's apparent that the condition of the lake, the beach, the buildings, etc., can vary widely from year to year, depending upon the investment of time by the owner or caretaker. By the time I had advanced to a higher grade, we drove further south on #2 until, emerging from the trees on the other side of the Rock River (near Byron? Oregon? Sterling? Dixon seems too far.) was the awesome statue of Chief Blackhawk! After advancing a couple more grades, I would join the Boy Scouts and canoe from Camp Lowden (sp?) to a landing in the shadow of that statue. (I flunked canoeing but won a merit badge for my marksmanship with a rifle.) Soon--or after I had killed several small animals--squirrels, chipmunks, etc.--I developed an aversion to guns and a love of all living things. After experiencing the intelligence of pigs (they think and feel like us!), I foreswore eating meat and adopted an abandoned squirrel as a pet. We tent camp at lake louise a couple times of year because we have family that have a seasonal site there and we like to visit. While camping this past weekend i encountered some things that i hope will persuade my family to choose another campground next year. The older of the two ladies that works the camp store doesn't seem to enjoy being there and trust me after dealing with her for 5 minutes i didnt enjoy being there either.... Extremely Rude! The bathrooms are disgusting even after they cleaned them they are still horrible. I reported to the two young men who were driving around picking up garbage that the lights were burnt out, the garbage over flowing, 1 stall out of toilet paper and no paper towels... I was told they take care of bathrooms in the morning.... It only was 7pm!!! While in the pool a man walks in with a beer..... we were told previously only water in the pool area. The beach attendant (that's what his shirt said anyways) didnt seem bothered or concerned by this at all or by the dozen children in the hot tub.... Since when are children allowed in a hot tub anyways.... Aren't there regulations??? Or by the group of people who took over the pool playing with a hard soccor ball in the pool(not a beach ball) the ball ended up hitting my mom in the head! All of this was ok with the staff actually the only thing that seemed to bother the staff was when you brought such concerns to their attention. This campground has so much potential unfortunately the right people don't love it enough to take care of it. read more

This is by far the best campground I have been to since I was a little kid. Fishing was great. We played Bingo on Saturday night. It is so laid back and no strict rules as long as everyone is respectful. We got to fish until whenver we liked, which was very nice concidering by our house, you can't fish anywhere after dusk or without a fishing license. They have a store up at the front of the campground with just about anything you might need, and they even serve breakfast, lunch and dinner there! It's like a little family diner. The food was awesome! Our site was right next to the playground. We didn't have any kids with us, but the kids didn't bother us at all. They stayed by the park and weren't too loud. Joyce is the lady who checked us in and worked the store/diner the day we left and she was very pleasant and down to earth. We loved her! We will definately by back next year, maybe even to get a site for the year! read more

We are starting our 5th, year as seasonal campers, and we truly enjoy the benefits of seasonal camping at Lake Louise in Byron, IL, and being set up all summer. We weren't sure if we wanted to set up as a seasonal, especially so close to home. We live in Rockford, IL and from our driveway to the campsite is a 17 minute drive. We have 3 kids that all have team activities and jobs. It was so hard to get everyone together, that we weren't getting any use from our camper at all. When we did it was so much work to load the camper, clean and unload it again for a 1-2 day trip. Now that the kids are driving, the are able to go to their jobs/activities, and then join us afterwards. Now all we do is pack our clothes, grab some food & the dog , unlock the camper and we are set up and ready to head to the pool or beach. As a seasonal you can pretty much improve your site as you wish. (plant flowers, decorate, add mulch, put up a shed, have a golf cart & bikes) Lake Louise has a very nice park for the kids, although they could use some new baby swings. Activities are offered every weekend, but its up to you to join in. The pool and hot tub are very nice, there are adjustable lounge chairs out by the pool, some of them are broke, but that's because parents don't always supervise their kids and the kids jump on them. The lake is nice & the sand beach is clean. There is a little store and restaurant for your convenience, and 3 bathhouses. This is a family fun campground. You can find fault in any place you go if you look hard enough. But just come out, relax and enjoy yourself. For our family, Lake Louise is AS CLOSE, AS FAR AWAY GETS! read more

We love coming to Lake Louise to swim and just hang out.It is a great place to go and cool off in the summer and for us, it's close by. The lake is a lot cleaner thid year, than it was before.They cleaned out a lot of the seaweed, which is good, because there wasquite a bit of seaweed in the lake before. The staff is very friendly, and the food is good.They have everything in the little shack and I like their large selection of books, since I am an avid reader.Also, the lady working there told me when you buy a book, they donste the money to charity. We have never been camping here ( and probably never will, since we live so close), so I cacan't vouch for the campground, but its a nice place to swim and just relax.The only thing that keeps me from giving it five stars is that they need to do some repairs.The bridge going across the lake is uneven in one spot, and I hurt my foot walking across it barefoot.Also the railing on the bridge needs to be fixed, as does the small slide in the kiddie swim area.One of the rungs at the top is missing, and a child could fall right off the side of the slide, because there's nothing for him to hang onto.I mentioned it to one of the employees, and she acted like it wasn't s big deal, and they would repair it eventually, but the repairs should have been done before they opened for the season! read more

We enjoyed the swimming pool when we went in the early afternoon as it appeared very clean and well kept - they also have a hot tub, but I stay away from those! However, later in the afternoon there were folks in the swimming pool with dirty clothes on. I'm taking about shirts and pants with dirt stains. Then they went into the hot tub - gross. Nobody was there supervising or anything. We do a lot of camping and overall we would never go back to this site. Although they have amenities - such as the pool, beach, boats, fishing etc...you are better off going to a State Park and looking at other campsite in WI. The place is very congested, the bathrooms were disgusting, we were there for two days and they weren't cleaned once, garbage was overflowing everywhere. I asked an older lady who was in the office area about the bathroom and she was completely rude. She was also rude to my husband. They do pick up your garbage and take your fire wood. However, I wouldn't consider that a priority. Also it was loud and there were obnoxious people all around us. There is no security to tell so people around us stayed up till 3am laughing, singing, playing music...we were supposedly in a "family friendly" area. We have a toddler and we did not sleep. Also, as one reviewer mentioned - seasonal people in their golf carts drive around like they own the place, taking up lanes and talking to people. The dump station (although it doesn't smell) is literally right where everyone is camping - as a matter of fact it's pretty much by the kids playground. The picnic benches also have to be thrown - sitting on them was like sitting on a rocking chair. Don't waste your time and money - you can stay at Rock Cut State Park, Oregon even High Tides and get your money's worth with clean bathrooms, quiet hours, more privacy and friendly service. read more
