I'm writing this as the sister of the bride because I witnessed firsthand how this caterer nearly ruined what was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my sister's life. We were literally in the middle of getting ready for her wedding rehearsal when my sister got a call from her venue, The Magnolia Room. The venue was calling to say that there were no bartenders, no staff, and possibly not even any catering because the vendors told them they weren't coming -- they hadn't been paid. You can imagine the shock, panic, and heartbreak my sister felt getting this news the day before her wedding, while she's trying to enjoy what should have been a joyful moment with her family and friends. She checked her email and found a message from the caterer where he casually said that he would "no longer be able to take care of the wedding tomorrow due to health issues." That was it. No phone call, no warning -- just an email less than 24 hours before the wedding. He even sent her a list of the vendors he had never paid, despite the fact that my sister had paid him months ago, in full. Because of his complete failure and dishonesty, my sister had to come out of pocket again -- at the last minute -- to pay for services she had already paid him for. I watched her, exhausted, in tears, calling around to salvage her own wedding because of this man's utter lack of responsibility. My sister still has not received her money despite his promise of refunding her within 14 days after the wedding. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. It was heartbreaking to watch my sister go through this -- the stress, the expense, the betrayal -- all because someone took her money, made empty promises, and walked away. Do not trust this company with your event. read more

Absolutely do not trust this company with your event, especially something as important as your wedding. Less than 24 hours before my wedding, Alexander Cruz canceled on us after having been paid months and even years in advance through multiple payments. He claimed it was due to "health issues," but that doesn't excuse the fact that he never paid any of the subcontractors -- no rental company, no staffing company, no bartenders. They all confirmed to us that he never paid them, even though we had already paid him in full. He left us scrambling at the last minute, nearly ruining our wedding. His lack of professionalism and accountability is shocking. One week after our wedding, he still has not refunded us a single cent. To make matters worse, his supposed coordinator, Gina Ricca, completely ghosted us. When things fell apart, she simply disappeared without offering any help, apology, or explanation. At this point, it's clear this is not just poor business practice -- it's dishonest and borderline fraudulent behavior. He took our money, failed to deliver the service, failed to pay his subcontractors, and is now avoiding responsibility. He is a scammer, and I would strongly warn anyone against trusting him with your money or your event. read more

Updated: The owner and executive chef both contacted my best friend to make amends and correct the situation. Where the food served seems to have stemmed from an initial miscommunication. The unprofessionalism, however is being addressed in-house. I have updated my rating from a 1 star to a 3 star. ______________________ Uncaring and inconsiderate to those with ANA food allergies. Absolutely no effort was put forth for a catered meal. Would have been easier, and more flavorful, if supplied with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Company was informed beforehand of anaphylactic allergies to onions and bell peppers. Company agreed to supply a customized meal to accommodate. The first meal was just the green beans and dried out, yet still pink chicken. Absolutely not a spice to be found, neither salt or pepper. The writing on the container was written by the caterer. The second meal was not labeled, and immediately sickened my best friend just by opening the container to the smell of onions and bell peppers. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional for a catering service that claims ServSafe Certifications to dismiss and ignore life-threatening allergens in their meals when THEY said they could accommodate. read more

Lake Norman Catering catered my brunch style wedding reception at the Charles Mack Center in Mooresville in Sept. The food this company presented my guests was not even remotely close to what my wife and I received at our tasting, and the taste and quality of the food served was embarrasing, to say the least. No one wants to pay their hard earned money for a WEDDING to be served slop. We were utterly embarrassed, and neither me nor my wife ate anything AT OUR OWN RECEPTION!!! The owner of this company is trying to discredit and devalue the honest opinions, based on individual experiences with the poor quality of his food. What grown folks really have the time spam reviews? Prior to our wedding day, we had a tasting with one of Alexander's chefs, Nathan Grice. The food he presented was great! We were presented shrimp and grits (yellow ground grits,  creole sauce with andouille sausage and jumbo shrimp), chicken and waffles (belgian waffle with seasoned, battered, and fried chicken tenders and a lemon basil sauce), and thick center cut bacon. We had one request, serve the creole sauce separately because my wife has a shellfish allergy. Chef Nathan left the company prior to our wedding day and no one communicated that to us or asked us to schedule another tasting. As a customer, one would expect to be made aware of this sort of change, ESPECIALLY if said change would mean a difference in recipe, taste, or quality of food one receives. That's not rocket science folks. On wedding day, we received Alexander Cruz's attempt at the menu, which was bland and nothing close to what we had at our tasting. White ground grits, no andouille sausage, and the shrimp sauce was mixed in with the grits. We also received eggo waffles, instead of belgian waffles and dry baked chicken tenders with panko bread crumbs (instead of seasoned, battered, and fried). He also failed to bring the cheese for our cocktail hour and did not have enough fruit to serve our guests (this is also a repetitive issue that is not unique to our review). The attention to customer needs and the  communication between Chef and owner is lacking also (ANOTHER repetitive issue that is not unique to our review). So regardless of whatever excuse Alexander gives, nothing will ever excuse the POOR QUALITY AND TASTE of his company's food, nor the lack of effective communication with his staff and the customer in order to meet the customer's needs. Also, no excuse will validate the deception of the tasting compared to the product we received. Deception / Bait and Switch on you. Please be careful with working with Lake Norman Catering LLC. Be VERY specific in what you want down to any little nuance as they will change up your menu and the quality of food without you knowing. We completed a tasting with their executive chef on one day but at our wedding they showed up with something COMPLETELY different. For example we held a tasting where the chef provided fried chicken and belgium waffles as what he considered the "norm" for their chicken and waffles but on my wedding day they showed up with EGGO waffles and baked chicken wrapped in panko. What "premier" caterer or ANY caterer of any kind would have the audacity to show up with EGGO Waffles??? Have everything in writing regardless if the staff says they don't need it. They completely bamboozled me on my wedding day. And yes, we took Lake Norman Catering to court for this "bait and switch" they did but apparently that's legal and I lost my case. My response is to just warn others. Unfortunately I should have read other reviews because this is NOT their first time deceiving clients. read more

LKN Catering catered our Christmas party at our business last night. Reading through some of the other reviews, I cannot say we experienced any of the negativity outlined. I expect some of it was a result of the COVID shut down and it was difficult to find anyone who really wanted/needed to work. Now, at almost the end of 2022, things are turning around for businesses in the service business, as am I. The food was well prepared and a LOT of it. At the last minute (literally) we asked if they could provide servers rather than just drop off service and we were accommodated. These two ladies are experienced and know how to treat the public. They have obviously had years of experience, again difficult to find nowadays. Since things are looking up for country and the world as a whole, I would highly recommend this business. read more

This is my new favorite place to eat in Mooresville. I've been twice and once for lunch and then for dinner. Both were delicious. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I had the chicken marsala tonight and it was to the best I'd ever had. It's a little hard to locate but definitely worth it. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

We had an absolutely incredible experience with Langtree catering! We came to Lake Norman for a four day business retreat and used them for all of our meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner for all four days with a group of women from all over the country. EVERYONE was pleased with the menu items. They were fresh, well seasoned and large servings. We worked with Nathan Grace to plan everything, it was very easy to work with and even personally delivered some of the meals. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I want to do another retreat in Lake Norman JUST to use this caterer again! read more

Our family decided to order a catered Christmas Dinner from Langtree Catering and Events. Order was paid for in full prior to pick up and we followed pickup instructions exactly on scheduled day and time to receive our meal. The trays of food were very well packaged and sealed and Alexander himself brought the order out to me. Everything was labeled on the outside with our correct name and the number of people to be fed. I was assured everything was there so I did not feel the need to open all the well packaged food items at that time. On Christmas Day when it is time to reheat and prepare the meal, we discovered that we were missing half of what we were promised and given double of some items such as rolls. This resulted in a very stressful scramble to find alternatives to Christmas dinner the evening of with all stores closed and virtually no options available. What should have been an easy and stress free meal instead resulted in frustrated tears and pints of ice cream bought from CVS down the street. Not the special meal we had been striving for after a very hard and distressing year. The next day I reached back out to Langtree Catering and Events via email and described our disappointment and asked for a refund as we did not receive what we had paid for. I received a very long and excuse ridden response in return, however, I was guaranteed a refund at the bottom of the email so I was satisfied with the response. Over the next several months we have sent multiple emails and called several times to follow up on the status of the refund. Alexander Cruze has since stopped returning our calls. This meal was ordered by myself and paid for by my mother. As someone who has worked in Events and Catering for over 14 years I do understand the challenges of a pick up meal, however, the response we've received has been unprofessional and insulting. It is now the end of March and this refund that was promised on December 26th has still not been processed. We have no other options than to file a formal complaint. This has been, undoubtedly, the single worst customer service experience I have ever had. read more

You took $500+ of my active duty family's money for NOTHING. We received no money in return for canceling due to my active duty military husband having COVID. Along with myself, who is pregnant with disabilities, there was no way we could host any event, or even see your staff for their safety. We booked Langtree as a caterer for our wedding a few months back and figured we'd try the Cafe food through delivery while sheltering in place. Their buffalo chicken wrap and chicken marsala was so delicious that we ordered the same exact meal again a few weeks later. The house chips also held up surprisingly well in delivery. Alexander and his team at Lake Norman Catering are Outstanding! They created an amazing menu featuring a unique dish from 8 cities within the USA as I requested. Alexander was in constant contact during the development of the menu and personally oversaw the set up and execution. He even went back and got several to-go-boxes for my guests to enjoy the leftovers. The quality and presentation of the food was amazing. You would be crazy to use any other catering in the area. In fact, his team is doing a 2nd event for me in October. read more

What a wonderful find. I was in town on business and wanted something local so decided to give it a try. I was ordering through one of those delivery services and my food never arrived. The staff at Langtree we're nice enough to notify me they had my order. They were even nice enough to bring it when I was unable to drive. They went above and beyond and I give them kudos. Also, the food was awesome. The steak and the wraps we're amazing. I will come back every time I'm in town. read more
